Here is the link to the video: Outdoorsman's Resource Guide-Video Promo We didn't have a lot of time to put it together before the show next week, but at least we got one done. The Arizona Edition is going to have 15+ stories, along with some Top Outfitter, Game Processor & Taxidermist insight. We will try to update this video later. </img></img> </img> </img> </img> </img> </img> View the full article

Matt with his 1st Archery Mule Deer!Vaquero Outfitters recently had a few successful over-the-counter Archery Mule Deer hunters take some great bucks in Arizona. Corey with his first archery BIG Game animal!Matt VanRay took this 182" buck at 52 yards on the first day of his hunt with guide Lee Murphy. This is a great mule deer anywhere in the country, let alone with an OTC archery deer tag. On the second day of his first archery mule deer hunt, Matt's cousin Corey VanRay shot this great buck at 45 yards with guide Aaron Overton. 177" OTC Archery Mule Deer buck is pretty dang impressive for your first archery animal. Click here to book a 2012 or 2013 over-the-counter archery mule deer hunt with Vaquero Outfitters.</img></img> </img> </img> </img> </img> </img> View the full article

gearnagger do I know you? I always get a kick out of this crap! Is it just about the NUMBERS? Is that the only reason you hunt? If it is then do us all a favor & QUIT, pack it in, become an Anti! I don't care what this bull scores, he is HUGE in many folks eyes! Are there bigger, heck yes! I believe he is around 380, but that doesn't matter. I am not & WILL not lower myself to a pissing match across a PC forum. If I am going to do that I would do it toe-to-toe with whomever (unless they fight in the UFC). YES, I am feeling a bit PUNCHY this morning, I watched Rocky IV last night! LOL

I am not even sure if we posted this on CW.com, but here is the NEW cover. Keep in mind the 2012 Edition will not be published until July of this year. We are publishing DIY hunting stories now & we have a couple of CW.com members that are contributing. We have some great animals & stories to go along with the resources & businesses that support our way-of-life. Why DIY stories? First, we didn't even want to do stories, but the emails from others said you wanted to read them. Second, we believe most people want to read about the DIY type hunts, because obviously that is how you do it most of the time. We also felt like guys will buy print at a higher rate, if the content is about something they are interested in. I personally want to read about Arizona or the other state's I apply for. I honestly do not care about many of the states I have no interest to hunt. With that said, we do have some outfitter contributors & they help us with the field judging sections. We think they are great resources & provide some quality insight about animals inside their home state.

We are always looking for more stories & photos. We have around 12-15 short stories so far & we want to PACK it full of them. We have been very lucky, as Arizona grows some GIANT animals & these hunters are getting it done! I was the exception this last year, but at least I can live through the successful ones. Obviously, the size of the animal does help, but a great story or experience is what we are really after. We just talked with a guy that killed a 28" Muley with traditional equipment. This was an OTC tag & his first animal with traditional gear. He really felt it was not worthy because it wasn't a 190 buck. I disagreed & he is writing us a story now. Also, you CAN be a GUIDE & submit your own story or your family members story! You are a DIY hunter, we just aren't excepting any client stories.

+1 Ethics are defined by ones personal values & decisions, not by the State, Government or a PSE commercial. I think common sense would tell anyone that you would want to draw as much weight as reasonably possible. Do I think it is enough weight for an elk? Maybe... Do I think you should shoot big game out to 100 yards? Maybe... Do I think most mechanical broadheads suck? Maybe... Gino, this should be good for the Shop in Payson! LOL

All you can do is write letters, go to the meetings & send emails. Please keep in mind, the Game & Fish gets a lot of rambling complaints or suggestions. Lots of guys get so dang pissed, (my dad) they lose all sense of meaning & many of those comments get overlooked. Keep your stuff brief & explain your position with facts or at least an observation. Also, contact the AES or RMEF & see where they stand on these issues. I know Steve & the gang (AES) usually have an educated response to any issues they see. They even hired a biologist to dispute some of the permit increases! I would encourage any of those whom aren't a member to join the ADA, AES, RMEF or what ever organization you fancy because public access isn't going to get any easier, crowding is going to get worse & tag tees will continue to rise.

It's that time of the year & we will have a booth at two different shows in the Southwest. It's actually a nightmare logistically for us, but someone has to do it! Why? hmm... Well, for starters it is a great way for us to get a feel for businesses that are liked by others. It's also a great way for us to update our information, as plenty of folks vote & then tell us about a NEW business in their town or the one that went out-of-business. Arizona Wildlife Designs-Region 5 Taxidermist Ad Almost all of the gun shops, bow shops, taxidermy studios & game processors are small businesses. Small business equals tiny advertising budgets! We offer advertising discounts to the Outdoorsman's Top Picks & they get the endorsement logo in their Ad. Bull Basin Archery-Outdoorsman's Top Pick Arizona Region 2 & 5 Ad We all have our own opinions & you get a chance to see them ton on forums, chats & Social Media. Honestly, that is what is great about the web & these outlets. Users can voice their opinions with the touch of a button, but you don't typically get a concrete answer & you are left with 30 different answers, from 40 different unknown users. Here is a perfect example from a popular hunting forum:Arizona's Best Elk Guide-Monster Muleys Forum Picking the Top Arizona Elk Guide Service isn't cut & dry, as there are several great choices. The fact is, we only have 1 Top Pick per category & we DO NOT pick the Top Pick winners. We simply hold the voting, count the votes & publish the results. This is truly YOUR opinion & your chance to VOICE it! 2011 Arizona Elk Guide Service Top Pick Results: Total Votes-3231. Mullins Outfitters-55 Votes2. Mossback Guide Service-45 Votes3. Southwest Hunting Adventures-23 Votes (2011 Outdoorsmen Supporter)4. Timberland Outfitters-19 Votes 5. Colburn & Scott Guide Service-17 Votes (2011Outdoorsmen Supporter) Others with 10+ votes: Arizona Outfitter & Guide Service, Arizona Wildlife Outfitters, Borderland Adventures, Chappell Guide Service, Chasin' a Dream Outfitters, Koury Guide Service, McClendon & Sons Guide Service & Vaquero Outfitters. Vaquero Outfitters-2011 Arizona Mule Deer Guide Service Top Pick Ad Honestly, promoting the Top Picks is risky for us as a publishing business. We could just promote the businesses we endorse & hope customers would buy into our opinions, but then we would be just like everyone else... Vote NOW! Arizona Colorado FYI-You DO NOT have to be a Top Pick to advertise with us, as we understand not every quality business can win.</img></img> </img> </img> </img> </img> </img> View the full article
