Personal opinion... A long, long, time ago, when I lived in a little bubble, I honestly thought all Guided Hunters were high rollers that tossed cash around in order to slay a monster bull. Bluntly, I thought most of them were jerks. Over the past 10 years I have met many Guided Hunters & Guides during hunts & many of them have been good guys. Now without a doubt, there are those Guided Hunters & Guides that can be plain jerks. I have also seen this trend increase with DIY/UnGuided hunters. Before you get bristled up, let me clarify this, I have never been the hunter on a guided hunt. I personally enjoy the aspects of scouting & doing it on my own, even if it means my success rates are compromised. It's just who I am & what I enjoy. With that said, the rudeness within the entire hunting society is fueled by jealousy & the desires to kill a trophy animal at all costs. How did we get here? How did we get to where we won't shake the hand of another in the field? (I am not talking just Guided hunter vs UnGuided hunter, I believe there is an increase in hostility between UnGuided vs UnGuided, as well.) How did we get to where we hate the other guy when he kills a big buck? We are all guilty of jealousy to some degree, myself included. I have caught myself in the middle of sentences, only to later realize, I said something out of jealousy. Maybe, those guys were jerks or they didn't do it how I would have, but that's their choice. You can't control others, but you do have a choice to put your best foot forward & choice to make No EXCUSES. after tax appointment editing... I believe & truly believe this, we NEED to truly NOT forget why we started hunting in the first place. If we can get back to that place & worry about ourselves, we will be better off. Governor hearing a sales pitch for HB2072 today
CEI replied to audsley's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
+1 Honestly, the bill states some very factual reasons to raise money, but the means from which they want to raise money is not sound. It's still public money & public wildlife. I think the Anti's could spin this one on us & point out that we are stealing public funding to hire lobbyists. We are supposed to be the GOOD guys, not the left wing crazy freaks! Many are ignorant & they don't get that we are LOSING hunters & access. Many hunters believe we have MORE hunters than we should, they want less! They want to draw more often, well heck don't we all! We are seeing more people in the field because there is LESS places to hunt! I sent Amanda a Region 3 General Deer Hunt breakdown, with regards to a HUGE decrease in applicants over the past 10+ years. It's startling! The only hunts that are getting harder to draw are the PREMIUM hunts. The general deer tags are at all time LOWS, low success rates & increasing in draw odds for these hunts. It's great because I can draw a general tag, but with out the recruitment & retention we are FINISHED. -

We are different in SO many ways! This is yet another... We didn't really like the clutter of the first cover layout & so made some changes. What do you think? After all, it is your publication & it is going to be in YOUR truck all year! Pre-Order Now & Save! View the full article

Here is what the Front Cover should look like. What do you CW members think? Eric's buck is one heck of a buck, but his isn't the only one in the 2012 Arizona Edition!!!
-
Hope you guys like & order! LOL We might make some minor tweaks to the front & back covers, but the core parts are done.

It is illegal to cut the lock off, but it's also illegal for some one to lock that gate. Contact the Regional Office, ASAP! They deal with this stuff all of the time & should be able to help you.

Governor hearing a sales pitch for HB2072 today
CEI replied to audsley's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I just see the Auction tags as being tags that ultimately ELIMINATE almost anyone with a normal income. I can see how the bonus point deal would be disturbed with all of the other tags, but it doesn't get under my skin like the auction tags. The money not going to Game & Fish doesn't really bother me that much, well...I guess it's because you see a lot of waste in government agencies. My main concern, & this is just me, is who decides where the money goes for access, youth projects & such?. So they raise all of this money, now who's in charge of it & who controls it? This is Public money, not just theirs. They didn't exactly enlighten us on this bill, so are they going to ask our opinion & discuss the financial decisions with us, or just ask the guy with the big pocket book. Just my opinion & honest feelings. -

Thanks Amanda! OK folks here is what some have told me & where you need to come from: You can complain about the tags or lack of... You can complain about the money not going to wildlife conservation, but these are not going to make bit of difference. This whole thing is about money & the economic benefits of the tags & expo. So, you need to understand the Governor & her office is going to look at this from the ECONOMIC standpoint. The bottom line, does it BRING in more money to the STATE than the current system & expo? I don't know if it does or does not, but if you want to plead your case, do it from the economic side. The ISE Phoenix Show was not a great show this year & for me it would HELP my business if this Hunting Exposition was to take place. With that said, I don't believe we should have 54 ADDITIONAL Auction Tags & I don't believe PUBLIC funding decisions should take place behind closed doors. These are my issues with this bill & how it was pushed upon ALL of us. -

Honestly, I cannot believe those involved would take this step again. I agree that we need to raise money for the causes, but 54 auction tags is an EXTREME number! Is this confirmed Amanda? -
Good job guys! That takes some time, effort, skill & luck.

This is a cool story, but pretty sure it wasn't for love. Probably, had more to do with breeding desires. We really wish the newscasters would have reported on where the money came from to help reintroduce the Sonoran Pronghorn (Hunters & the Arizona Antelope Foundation) Sonoran Pronghorn Video </img></img> </img> </img> </img> </img> </img> View the full article

As the 2012 Arizona Elk & Pronghorn draw deadline approaches, I hope some of you that follow our blog & publication, draw a few tags. I was on Youtube & typed in "Arizona Elk Hunt" & this video was at the top of the list. It has been awhile since I have watched this video, but the memories are still fresh in my mind. What you can't see or feel on this video are the emotions I felt after my elk tipped over. Honestly, I have seen bigger bulls & been on better elk hunts, but having my dad find this group of elk & then to take him down, meant the world. What's not on the video...Kenny ran up to me a few minutes after I made the shot & watched the bull go down. When he got to me I gave him a hug for all the help & thanked a few other friends, family & the good lord out loud. Then, I grabbed his two-way radio I walked away. I proceeded to call my dad on the radio & honestly, I cried like a baby. I am not sure how he could even understand what I said & I can't explain too anyone how I felt. You can never replace the memories. You can always kill bigger or go to the store & buy a package of hamburger, but the memories are embedded with you forever & that is why I hunt. So whether you go guided or you chose to do it on your own, remember it's the memories that will last... For a list of AZ outfitters, taxidermists & game processors we recommend, email us at: info@outdoorsmansresourceguide.com</img></img> </img> </img> </img> </img> </img> View the full article

#1 Video on Google & YouTube Search Terms-Calling Coyotes, Coyote Calling Honestly, by mainstream standards this video has not gone viral, but by hunting video standards it has. We were actually on a business trip for the first part of the video & we caught the COYOTE FEVER! We get hammered a little for using a .22mag, but it gets the job done if they are under 100 yards. </img></img> </img> </img> </img> </img> </img> View the full article

Oooouch!!!! Arizona had some great precipitation to finish off 2011, but it has been dry since. Colorado also just received a fair amount of snow, but this outlook map isn't very exciting. We bring this up with draw deadlines approaching fast. We also had several people with lots of points inquiring about whether or not too apply. Should you apply for Arizona for Elk if you are a non-resident with 13+ points? Yes! Could this answer change by the end of February? Yes! February & March are going to be critical, so pay attention to the weather & this blog. </img></img> </img> </img> </img> </img> </img> View the full article
