  3. dang... I filmed this buck in 2008 just after I had shot a 172" buck. After studying the film I figured the buck would go 195+ and gave him the nickname "NT". I looked for this buck in 2009, 2010, but kind of gave up on him in 2011. Well my suspicions were correct and the buck had been killed.Over the past few years I have become good friends with Jesse Schreiner. While watching one of our YouTube videos he discovered that the buck I called "NT", looked pretty familiar. Jesse called me and told me to stop by his house one day, so I did... NT's big side was shot off! There was no mistake about it, Jesse had killed NT the same year I filmed him. The unfortunate thing was the buck's left antler had been shot off sometime before the general season. Jesse was trying to take another buck, but light was fading and he shot NT on accident. Well, NT would have scored in the 202-206" range, but he was now half the buck he use to be. Congrats to Jesse for taking a legend in my mind and I hope the guy who tried to POACH this beautiful buck falls in a HOLE! View the full article

    Radar App-Review

Thanks to a friend I found an App called, "MyRadar". Over the past few months I have been testing it out during the Monsoon Season. Weather is something I follow while at home and out in the field. So the ability to have a mobile radar is something I find useful. On to the review... Saturday August 18th test MyRadar ActualLike most Apps that provide real time information you will need data service. Obviously, this is something we don't always have while out in the field. If you don't have data service you will continue to need to monitor the sky with your eyes and warnings from the NWS Office because this App, like most, will do you no good.If you have 3G+ data service the MyRadar App works pretty good. It can track your location (if you allow it) and you can view the radar overlay on a road map or over a terrain map. With both of these you can zoom in to a very isolated spot, in order to see if it is raining around your favorite tank or canyon. After chasing a few storms and comparing the data to where it is actually raining, it is fairly accurate, but no where near 100%.Saturday August 18th MyRadar Test Screen The radar is always in a loop setting. You can slow it down or speed it up, but you cannot set the radar on a static view. The radar is also slightly behind, or indicates more rain than what is actually happening from what I have found, but it is still pretty accurate. The image labeled "Test Screen" was a screen shot taken from my i-phone and labeled "Actual" was what was happening out the front windshield. I could see some heavy rain to the South and Southwest of me, so I am assuming the radar was slightly delayed.Final Verdict...The MyRadar App is free with an upgrade edition available, but I don't think the upgrade is of value. This App seems to function pretty well and works well when you have data service. Sometimes the radar overlay will be missing digital blocks, but overall it seemed to function well. I believe it is a useful tool, especially if you are hunting or fishing in an area where you have data service. MyRadar App is available through both Google Play and the App Store. 13. Hey guys thanks for the comments. Just being 100% honest, we are not trying to knock guided hunters or outfitters. We just understand there is a different story or hunter that works his tail off, and doesn't want to, or doesn't have the money to hire an outfitter. We want to make sure both stories are being told in our state editions, but it's just a fact that 90% of hunting is done without paid help. I started this publication with an idea in 2009 and hardly anyone really knew what we were trying to build. Now we have an outfitter waiting list that gets bigger each week and we believe in putting out a better product each and every year. We have limited outfitter space within each state edition and we want to make sure our supporters are not swarmed with other outfitter stories. We also want to make sure you can pick up a copy and can relate to what you are reading. Oh yeah, we love the stories, but through it in your truck!!! A phone number can save you some time or money while on your hunt! more than magazine.

    Leaving a Bull overnight

CooseFan & Tines hit it spot on in my opinion. I have also seen far too many bulls pushed after the shot. It happens every year! Unfourtunately, you typically have to learn the hard way, but the important thing is you learn from it and don't repeat your mistakes. Hopefully, any new bowhunters or young hunters out there take these experiences they read about to heart. Bull Elk are tough mother suckers!

  18. This is the time of year I can't sleep or think about anything other getting my butt out of my office and into the hills! Anyone else have butterflies? I didn't draw any tags, in any states, but my boss (wife) drew two good AZ Tags. We have received some great feedback from our pre-order customers with regards to the NEW AZ ORG. We also sent out some promotional publications and we are looking for your feedback. We hope you guys like them and find them to be an assest while in the field this fall & winter. If you like the Outdoorsman's Resource Guide feel free to spread the word. We are doing well on Newsstands, but we NEED feedback from our customers in order to make a better product. We aren't some big company with corporate funding, we are a small company made up of people like you that wanted to make a useful product. We wish all of you luck this fall & winter!

    15A / 15B Buck

Nice buck. Looks young as Lance stated. We have had a lot of rain and the goats will be spread out. There are a few bucks bigger than that running around in those units, so keep searching. It is a fun hunt and I would recommend a GPS with Land Status.
  20. Racer, That was a Typo. Freakin' idiots... Thanks, Craig Steele

  22. Here is the Blog Topic Link: Arizona Big Game Unit Precipitation July 2012
  23. The Southwest is known for being a dry climate. With that said, precipitation amounts can dramatically influence antler growth and big game rutting cycles. The above Arizona Big Game Unit precipitation data map is for the month of July. This image is GREAT news if you are an Archery elk hunter (rut factors) or hunting deer south of the Grand Canyon (antler growth). These precipitation unit images are something we will eventually only share with our members.
