And even the Southwestern ones RARELY have any articles on coues. it seems the only publicity these deer get is when a monster is killed down in Mexico... Oh well, just better draw odds for us! YOU GOT A POINT THERE CORY -

How many are hunting the Nov. 36A whitetail hunt
MARCO SERRANO replied to AzTrapper's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I live in the North end of 36A, Close to Pima Mine rd. & Mission. My hunt starts Nov 7th and goes to the 13th. My early scouting hasn't show me much here in the north end. But it seems the best scouting times are just begining for me. I know there was some nice bucks here last year after the season, which kind of surprized me with all the hunters that showed up last seasons. seems like the word got out on how to get into the area. I know I wish I had a Mule deer tag instead of a whitetail as I have seen a couple of three huge bucks in places you would never think they would be so to speak. Of course the fact that there are more mountain lions in this area than I would like to see. So if you plan on hunting the north end of 36a besure to get a mountain lion tag as well. aztrapper where at do you see a lot mountain lions? I've been trying to get one for a lot of years maybe you can help. -

Lets hear about your close calls
MARCO SERRANO replied to IHunt2live's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Well I but a stalk on a beautiful 4x, big antlers. He was running around with 2 big mule deers. I actually thought he was a mulie. I started my stalk around 6:30 am, after an hour I was 90 yards away. I'm an amateur so I feel comfortable at 50 yards at the most, I relaxed took a couple of deep breaths and took another step towards him when I heard a cluck sound, I had stepped on a dry twig making almost no noise at all, he turned towards me raised his huge beautiful white tail and ran towards the canyon never to be seen again. I have never seen a deer like this one, I could have sworn he was a mulie, I was under the idea I was stalking a mulie, and much to my suprise he was a whitetail. He's ears, face, body everything looked like a mule deer. Has anyone come across any whitetail's like this? -
CONGRATS, VERY NICE
