I hope somebody might shed some light on the Arizona Big 10 Award. I have heard rumors but can't find any good literature on the subject. I am curious what agency or group gives the award and how I can find a list of folks who have won it in the past. Please fill me in if you have any details. This would be a great thing for my 1 year old nephew to start thinking about. Thanks....

You can request specific lenses to be replaced. I can't remember the cost of the small lenses but the big ones are about $140 a piece. It will probably take a month to get them back from the day you send them. My 15's got ran over by a low-riding '86 Cutlass Supreme on the 87 heading North to Payson. It was a heart breaker to watch... i still see it in slow montion when I close my eyes. Only car on the road, 80mph, didn't even tap the breaks. Totally destroyed them. I sent the pieces back for repairs and they are replacing them for $500. If you only want some lenses polished or replaced it shouldn't be too bad. Just call SONA and they will get you setup. Good Luck.... BB -
We Glassed... And Shivered... And looked... And Glassed Some More... And Glassed Even More... Then Located pigs... Then Stalked... And after many seasons of no pigs, lost pigs, blown stalks, and faulty equipment my brother gets it done. Here is an example of the mount he will be getting done. With any luck, I will get one next... And a big THANKS to Tyler (elkhunter) for helping two strangers in a new unit... Thanks again dude...

Anybody Hunting AZ Bear this Week?
Black Bare replied to Black Bare's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Had high hopes for this hunt, but saw nothing but pretty country. Glassed Friday evening and all of Saturday without luck. I think I may have been hunting to low. I wish I would have had Roninflag's weather, "...gentle mist, 53 degress..." -
Anybody Hunting AZ Bear this Week?
Black Bare replied to Black Bare's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I haven't seen many ripe pears in the area I have been scouting. Haven't seen much for acorns either. Don't know what to think. -
I appreciate the heads-up... Thanks all.

Would I be waisting my time and money getting a spotting scope for less than $500? I'm looking for something to team up with my swaro 15x56 but don't have the dough for upper-class glass. The few cheap spotting scopes I've used have been worthless and hardly usable. Those experiences have me concerned about buying one for less than $500. Any opinions on a spotting scope in that price range would be appreciated... Thanks, B.A. Bare

We couldn't close the deal on this buck this morning. Glassed him up eating on a palo verde tree at 10:30am. This buck will haunt my partner and I for some time to come. He was a heavy 4x4... The pictures aren't great but it's all I got. I'm so bummed....

I will soon be hunting coues for the first time. I am still not accustom to seeing/judging bucks in the wild. The pictures below are of a couple of bucks I've glassed up while scouting. Just looking for some opinions on the maturity of these bucks. Is there any "sure-fire" ways to judge coues on the hoof. I tend to error on the side of not shooting, but am afraid I may let a good buck walk because of my inexperience. Any thoughts? Multiple pictures of two (2) seperate bucks: (picture quality isn't great)

You have got me thinking about buying a new tripod set up. I like the Velbon Sherpa but can the PH-157Q head it comes with be removed? I can't tell from the pictures online. And is it compatible with the 700RC2 head? My $19 tripod and head I got from walmart is on its last leg. Thanks....

With bear hunting not far off, i was filing through some pictures from last year getting fired up to do it all over again. The best part of the hunt was watching a sow and her two cubs. We watched them for about an hour. The blonde cub was a joy to watch. I was lucky enough to snap off a few pictures. I'll be heading north to WA to bear hunt Aug 1st. I'm going in blind on a five day backcountry mission into the Manson Unit (243) just east of Lake Chelan. Never hunted for bear in WA. Anybody hunt bear in this part of the world? If nothing else it will be nice to get away and hunt bear in some cooler weather.

Switchback, Did you just happen upon that bear? Where you hunting for other animals, hiking, or what? That is an awsome bear. Good call on getting the picture before he gets hungry.

Ran into a suit trying to sell some property while hangin around Klondyke a few weeks back. I was taken back at first... thought he may be lost. He didn't seem to happy that I wanted drive through his propery to check out the China Peak Observatory. I hate to see develpment hit a place like Klondyke or any area I like to hunt. I guess its about time I get over this kind of stuff..... ONE WEEKEND OPPORTUNITY 60 Acres only $29,900* 154 Acres only $59,900*

Guys, When glassing I generally get up on a high point and glass down into and across a canyon. What I am wondering is that in an area with flat land and high peaks (not canyon after canyon), is it better to glass from the flat area looking up at the facing slopes of the peak. Or is it better to climb the peak and glass down into the flats. Hopefully my question makes sense. My concern is that if I climb the peaks to glass, the deer will be bedded down under me on the side of the same hill and I will never see them. What do you think? Am I crazy? Thanks. BB
