Did Tom ever tag out? I was following his post under the bighorn section. -
Here is my opening day ram that I shot at 312 yds!

Congrats on a stud buck!

+1 I'm all for an archery only sheep hunt!

I was lucky this year to have drawn a desert bighorn sheep tag with 8 pts..hopefully I can get a rocky tag just as quickly.

My son killed his on the jr hunt with a 243 using 100gr core lokt. It blew a huge hole in it. This next year he is going to use a 7mm.

Awesome...love the fist pump!

I believe the sheep were introduced in 05 then 07 and again in 2010. I know the lions played a big role with the sheep population not being able to stabilize. Seems like the sheep population in 42 has finally stabilized and hopefully they continue to issue a tag from here on out. Here are a couple different pics!

I was hunting unit 42 which this year was the 1st year it offered a hunt. Being that there was no previous hunts or history to the unit I was forced to scout every weekend since the draw came out. The ram I shot was my #1 ram based on early trail cam pics of him on water.2 weeks leading up to the hunt I was sitting on him from dawn to dusk. 3 days prior to opening day 2 new rams moved in on him and I had a feeling they would move him from the mountain he had been on and my thoughts were exactly right. Thanks to friends and family we were able to pick him up again on fri evening 5 miles from were he had previously been. We sat on him from morning to dark and on opening morning he was right were we left him the night before. A 1 hour stalk lead us to within 312 yds and the rest was history. A special thanks goes out to all my friends and my brother who helped me out alot..also id like to thank Troy scott and Eric hunt for talking to me about sheep and there habits and what to look for and expect.

I was shooting a Remington model 700 7mm with a 140gr nosler ballistic tip. We rough taped him at 173.

No greater challenge than glassing and hunting the flats of the sonoran desert. Best way to do this is to have a friend you can trust and or family member that knows how to guide you in on an animal once you find him. Getting as high as you possibly can is the key and radios are almost a must.

Great buck congrats to all involved!

Well I took my son out this morning for his jr hunt and right away I glassed a bachelor herd of bucks. A 2 hr stalk brought us to within 200 yrds of them and my son made a great shot and had his 1st buck at 11 yrs old.

Congrats on the success!

You don't want to show field pictures but you blast the unit? Doesn't make sense to me at all. I would think you would title it without the unit # if your so worried about it. -
Just got back from 6a and the bulls were off the hook this morning. We knocked down one great bull this morning and should of had another one. Hardly any people hunting were I am. Got my nephew on a 340" 6x this morning at 68yds but just to far for him to shoot.

congrats..great buck!

Congrats to both of you on awesome bucks! -
Yes at the time the taxidermist said that his neck measurement was the largest circumfrance measurement he had ever seen. The bull also had no ivorys left.
