Ive been scouting it a lot lately. One thing I can say it that unit 10 is HUGE and has a lot of huntable ground. Ive seen a fair amount of goats around tin house but they don't seem to stick to a general area and water is everywhere. Scouting is must and this year there seems to be some real whoppers in there. The biggest goats ive seen are around Williams in the pines. Good luck!

Although ive had success in 6a the last 2 times I drew it Ill probably never put in for it again. Here is a pic of the last 2 bulls I killed in there. Although not monsters both were 6x6's and the one had 12.5" bases.

I personally wouldn't have cashed in 11pts on a 6a tag. Im guesing you were tag #1? Expect all 800 tag holders to have 2 buddies helping so your looking at roughly 2400 guys in the field come opening day. 6a is a huge unit my best advice is be mobile and cover a lot of ground searching for those rutting bulls. Elk can be found throughout the entire unit so pick a general area and get familiar with it. Sitting water can be effective if rain doesn't present itself during the hunt. Ive also found the 2nd week to be better for bugling bulls and less people to deal with. I like the southern half of 6a..

Today was my 1st time in there. I can honestly say it's bigger than I thought. Saw 3 antelope bucks and 1 bull elk in the Prairie land. That elk was miles from any tree.

Scouted 10 today found goats outside the boquillas. Covered a good portion of the unit outside the boquillas. Still looking for a decent goat and a waterhole to sit.

6a has become the unit for opportunity. Back in 2011 when I had that tag there was roughly 675 tags and it seemed crowded but I found being mobile helped get away from the crowds. Good bulls can still be found there and I found the 2nd week is the best as the rut seems to be more in swing and new elk start showing up. I also liked back in the day when 6a was split into 6an and 6as. Good luck to everyone!

My last (2) tags I had in there I killed a 320" and a 330" 6x6's. If any of you two who drew that are non residents want help pm me.

1st of all congrats on the tag. 800 tags in 6a combined with every hunter having 2 buddies helping him and your looking at 2400 guys in the field come opening day! As the hunt goes longer there will be less people. Avoid bugLlng as every tom, dick and hairy will be doing it. Be mobile and cover ground. chase bugles in the morning and sit water in the evenings. Elk can be found just about anywhere in the unit just get off the roads and you will be in action. Good luck!

I drew unit 10 archery goat as a 2nd choice with 6 pts. Most of the goats are on the boquilla which they won't open for scouting till Aug 7th.

Great pics..thx for sharing. The 2 rams on the far left of the 1st pic look really good. They appear to have great mass.
