I would look where the snow line is, from what I've experienced they like that new vegetation that sprouts up as the snow melts away. Seems that they like that area and move towards it.

+1 just the minimal prep word is a pain in the A if your doing a lot of rounds; trimming, sizing, primer pockets, swaging. After loading 1000 rounds of once fired brass at one time made me think twice next time :-)

From what I understand it can not fit in a short action unless its custom. You don't want to go long action because that defeats the purpose of the WSM. I just got done getting one put together and it required a lot a machining to make the 7 mm WSM work smoothly in a short action. Look for my thread on the 7mm WSM, I have yet to find another one like mine (in a 700 short action).
