Just killed a big female at about 8 yards in the mesquite jungle of a wash.. Crazy to be 10 yards away from an animal for 15 minutes and not have a shot. Was glassing but not seeing any. There is tons of sign so I decided to sneek through the bottom. Predator called once with no response. Walked right up on her about a 150 yards later. Cat and mouse for 15 minutes trying to find a lane before the shot at 1 pm. Arrow blew through her so fast I lost it. Now if I could just have the same luck with a deer...

+1^ And maybe throw in some early cow hunts 3-5th choices to increase your odds to go elk hunting. Might not be antlers but meat and experience is worth alot.

I got this 5'x10', all steel trailer to carry extra gear for my 22 days on the strip in 2012. Comes with 2 spares one of which is brand new. I now have a ranger and this trailer is too small but they guy I bought it from used it for his quads. Asking $600. Also have a very good condition bimini soft top with rear window that came with my '07 700 XP. No use for it because I built a custom roof for mine as soon as I got it home. Retails for $100, asking $50. I also have a back seat bracket with seat belts (no seat tho) for my ranger that I have no use for. Free. Ryan

Was in flag all day testetday. Looked like maybe 3" as of yesterday evening. Was melting pretty quick but started again at dark.

Same issue and mine is as stubborn as they come. All honors and AP but he hates homework and requires constant prodding to focus. Drives us nuts, he knows it, and doesnt really care. 1st quarter is not even over and he had 3 Fs. He has raised one to a C, one almost a C and one is still an F and all his others are now A's. If he was less of a pain in the butt I might consider a little leneancy but for the stress he causes I'm not rewarding Fs. Normally I would take him out for a week. If he pulls it off he will only be allowed to miss 1 day of school. Kills me cause we both want to hunt and a tasty cow in the freezer would be nice. We'll see. His best case scenerio is about 2.5 days to hunt, down from 7 which hurts our odds too.

Very Cool. Curious on what was working call wise to bring those bulls in and how agreesive (or not) you were calling.

I got back last night after 9 days scouting/ deer hunting. Very few bugles in the morn/evening but tons of fresh sign. I was in 4 different parts of the unit and narrowed it down to 2 to hunt. Rain caused every draw and road into streams and mosquitoes were thick but still found a good number of elk. I do have a backup bull located but hoping for something a little better. This bull was pushing cows a little and was tolerating a raghorn as long as he didn't get too close. Hopefully it picks up. We start huntin Wed evening.

I'm deer hunting/elk scouting and found a herd of 40 + today. 2 nice bulls and I got within 30 yards of 1 on the walk out. Probably upwards of 60 elk seen today. The area stinks of elk. Was gonna leave it alone and not pressure em but I left my streamlight flashlight where I parked the ranger so I gotta go get it. Not a single bugle yet and I've been in 3 parts of the unit...

+1 DanH. A 72 hour orange tag would be the only way for them to authorize the tow - theoretically a reasonable amount of time for u to comply. What if u left unexpectedly for any reason with the intent to return and that end up exceeding 72 hours? If it happened to me I would dispute the legitimacy of the tow, especially for that much $. You have the right to a hearing within 10 days of tow. If u win the FS could be liable for the expenses minus the admin fee. That would probably force them to address their field policy if they end up paying for for a bunch of wrongful tows. I would take pics of ur setup too just in case u go to the hearing and that way u can show that u had a reasonable setup.

The Mexican llantera shops are good for cheap spares too. I had procomp xtreme ATs and switched to the Nitto Trail Grappler MTs mainly on price but I lost 2 mpg and I'm not overly impressed with the tread wear. 2 years old, less than 25k and im already getting close to needing to replace-that's alot of $. I'm gonna try and go back to pro comp ATs or comparable and may drop from 35's to 33's. they'll last me thru the end of the year tho so not a huge priority yet. E rated sidewalls are a big priority for me.

15 bucks in 3 days in 6a is pretty sweet. I'd be very happy with that.

I work 4/10's. Also work some extra jobs here and there to mostly finance my hunts. Now with my oldest hunting and my youngest getting close we definately need to start puttin in as a group cause I won't have enough vacation time to cover it all.

I'm gonna switch to PineDonkey's method too - those legs are kinda a pain.
