thanks everyone. went out to dinner with the family (mom, dad, wife, daughter) this evening. nice juicy new york strip cooked medium rare (although my dad did have the ever popular ribeye). then had desert (home made cheese cake with blue berries AND home made brownies with ice cream, chocolate syrup and whipped cream) at home with some friends (no wonder I am getting fat). my great wife said she and my daughter are going to make my favorite breakfast tomorrow morning (french toast made from Kings Hawaiian Sweet Bread - yum). then tomorrow night we are headed down to the university to watch the #2 ranked SUNDEVILS whip up on the lowly mildcats. fun times. thanks again for the wishes.

got this off from rockypointtalk.net MEXICO CITY - U.S. officials confirmed Monday that an American citizen was found dead in northern Mexico. The U.S. Embassy said the body of Ronald C. Ryan of Phoenix, Arizona, was recovered in Sonora state, across from Arizona, but gave no other details. Jose Larrinaga, spokesman for Sonora state prosecutors, told reporters Sunday that Ryan's body was found the previous day partially buried near a creek on the outskirts of Santa Ana, a city 60 miles south of Nogales, Arizona. A cause of death had not been determined and the body was taken to the border city of Nogales, Mexico, for an autopsy, Larrinaga said. He said Ryan, 67, was reported missing May 3. State police had reported detaining three men the following day who had left Ryan's pickup truck at a car wash in Santa Ana. Officers seized several automatic rifles, dozens of bullets and marijuana from the men, ages 18, 20 and 21, state police said. Local media said two of the men are the son and a nephew of Jose Vasquez Villagrana, an alleged key operator of the Sinaloa cartel who was arrested in February.

thats a great price brian. I have been talking with a guy in Phx about a 20 gauge (he is asking more than what you are). still trying to decide what exactly I want.

Thanks Doug. I appreciate the invite and the opportunity to go down south and chase birds with you. looking forward to (hopefully) a great mearns season next year. as a true to the bone desert rat, I only wish I hadn't missed that snow. can't believe it was almost all melted by the time I got down there. oh well.

Looking to get a gun for my daughter
SunDevil replied to WOODSAZ's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
good choice would be a remington 600 or 660 for a decent price (if you can find one) or a remington model 7. 243 would be a good round. -
Remington model 7s are great youth guns.
-
to bad you were not able to get a pic of that greater trogar.

I know what Scout'ms answer will be: "Badges, we don't need no stinkin badges." -
in no particular order: heat, snakes, crowds, private property, missed shots, written applications, illegals, shin diggers, waiting on the draw, "opportunity". it is amazing there are so many of us that even hunt deer in this state.

congrats Doug! as usual, the guy behind the camera did an outstanding job - especially on those last two pics. \"/

just spoke with Doug a little while ago. he got about 3 different shock gobbles this evening just after sunset. he is in the same general area I was last year when I tagged out. hopefully he does not shoot one in the morning and lets me get down and spend a couple days chasing birds with him. -
interesting. no email for me yet. maybe that means I had better luck.
-
shoulda been turkey scouting. \"/

Congratulations Daniel!!! it took me many years to get my first turkey. keep at it.

I have a 7mm Rem Mag and shoot 150 grain bullets in it for WT. for off the shelf, factory ammo, I think you can go as low as 140 grain but only up to 160 grain. I know the 300 Win Mag is very popular for people that only want one rifle. I personally do not have one. I have a 300 WSM and know you can get 150 grain on the low end and 180 grain on the upper end. I know someone who only had a 7mm Rem Mag for years and he would shoot 140 grain for WT and then use 160 grain for elk. never had a problem with either one.

I would double check on this. I called the G&F about this and they said the parent or guardian that signed the tag over must be in the field with the child. it specifically says "the parent or guardian". this would mean to me "the parent or guardian" that signed the tag over. Otherwise it would read "a parent or guardian".

just make sure your wife "accompanies" him in the field. I think that means she has to be within 50 yards of him.

Got my mount back.
