personally I shoot a 7mm rem mag. IMO it is a little big for WT but it is what I have and it shoots good. It is my experience and observation that going with lighter bullets in big calibers reduces accuracy. a 130 grain 270 is probably going to be more accurate than a 140 grain 7mm mag. bump the 7mm mag up to 150 or 165 grains and accuracy improves. same with 300's. 180 - 200 grains in 300's shoot great. drop down to 150 grains and all bets are off. if you are going to also possibly use it for elk than a 25-06 is little small. lots of guys use 270s for elk but then lots of guys use 300's for WT. a 7mm mag is right between them. a 257 weatherby mag would also be a nice gun to have. ammo is limited and even more expensive than other calibers. if you are going to get into reloading than might as well go with the 6.5 x 284. good luck and let us know what you end up with.

Nice bull! Congrats and thanks for sharing.

for WT and javis I would probably go with the 25-06. remington 700's can not be beat. Scout'm has a sweet Rem 700 chambered in 25-06 that is extremely accurate. here is a video of a friend of our taking a WT last year at 456 yards with it. I think he shoots 115 ballistic tips. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/36824-danos-leftovers/?hl=dano

SunDevil replied to idgaf's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
sept is a good time of year. the grass is still green, the deer are in their brown summer coats. the bucks are in velvet. IMO these things make it a little easier to find bucks. -
Did a little salmon and halibut fishing after my hitch.

the Russian river (during the week) is one of my favorite places. -
this just reported. there is a P E T A lawsuit and a judge has ordered the G & F to halt issuing any additional tags for upcoming hunts. Glad I got my leftover tag on Saturday!

it is unfortunate that people will now have to pay to access property that before was free but I am guessing a lot of guys that hunt spend more than $65 in one evening at the bar or on booze and cancer sticks for a weekend. it is all about priorities.

apparently this got missed by the nogales north wannabes. we all know preseason polls do not mean squat. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/colleges/articles/20130726pac-12-football-media-poll-2013-asu-second-south-arizona-fourth.html

that is one of my wife's favorite salsas. although we do not grill the ingredients but rather, we broil them in the oven. we prefer to make it the night before so it has had time to cool in the fridge.

so Redman, you are only willing to wager on the ASU vs nogales north game, IF ka'deem stays healthy? that is weak! My money is on the Devils beating the kitties and finishing the season with a better Pac-12 record than who of a.

check out the Pursuit Channel (channel 604 on Direct TV and 393 on Dish Network) tonight at 5:30 (8:30 eastern) for a NM MZ elk hunt. The hunt was outfitted by Cola Blanca. It also will re-air Sunday if you miss it.

I was not interested in getting up at 4:00 am for the super moon so I took this pic last night through my Nikon digiscope.

as a teenager, the Russian river was one of my favorite places to fish. I greatly preferred the clear water of the Russian to the murky, glacier green water of the Kenai or Kasilof.
-
first half of july is usually the best time of the year for fishing on the kenai peninsula
