Wahoo, ahi and Alaskan halibut are my favorite fish to eat. You got two out of the three. Nice job. Sierras are great the same day you catch them. They taste like fresh water trout to me. Are jack crevel any good to eat? No roosters?

Headed south again last weekend. Thurs was a gorgeous day on the water. Caught 12 yellowtail. 4 Grandes on the troll. We got lucky and made it out for partial days on both Fri and Sat even though it was windy and rough. Caught 11 YT on Fri. All were grandes. 7 on the troll in the last hour of fishing. Scored 7 more Grandes on the troll before the wind and the whitecaps kicked up Sat am. Probably was a little warmer weather than if I had been chasing thunder chickens up north.

Flat tire on the trailer the day after I got home. No biggie. Everything else nice and smooth. I had left my boat down there for the 11 days in between trips. It sure was nice driving down without pulling the boat.

I talked to a buddy yesterday, he said the water in San Carlos was a little warm and the yellowtail were being caught about 25 miles to the north where it was a couple degrees cooler

You might want to get in touch with the guy that runs this charter. Fishsantotomas.com

You will be able to find plenty of good, inexpensive guys to take you out in a panga within 5 - 10 miles of shore and catch all the bass and triggers you would want. If you want bigger fish you are going to need to go out 30 - 50 miles. That is going to require a bigger boat, be an all day trip and cost a lot more money. Go to Capones. A lot of the gringo fisherman hang out there and can help you out. Good luck. Tight lines!

Penn Senator. I use it trolling for YT, dorado, sailfish, etc. they are great reels for the price. $110 new at Sportsmanship but you can find gently used ones for a lot less on the Internet. The last one I bought I picked up for $30. I run 150 yards of 50 lb braid as backing and then 300 yards of 50 lb mono on mine.

A couple buddies flew in from UT last week and we headed south. First morning I spot some spouts and ask if they want to troll or go whale watching? They chose the later. trim.CCFEF5A4-2FD9-41A6-9EBC-EAFAEC06C150.MOV It was a little rough that day and one guy got sick so we headed in early and were rewarded with this sunset. In the very late afternoon of the second day we were fortunate to hook into these during the last 45 minutes of the trip. We had a double on the 3rd and 4th fish but the 4th fish broke the swivel. Triple tails up. The first hour and a half of the third day produced the same results as the day before. Another 4th fish was lost when it ripped the hooked completely out of the rapala. Triple tails up again. These were two of the better pics of the weekend. It is so hard to get good pictures on a rocking boat with all the different shadows and close quarters. Sunrise on the last day. Getting ready to pack up and head home. Got home safe and sound. Buddies headed back to the airport. After getting on the computer I saw I was rewarded with a $135 charge from G&F. Icing on the cake

The road is good. You do not go all the way to Caborca. You take the rd to Desemboque. The last 2 miles is dirt. Arturo is very dependable. We missed out on fishing 1 day last year because he was rebuilding the tranny and drive shaft. It actually took him a week. They have a cell tower in town. When you are ready to come in you just call him on the phone. His son is also back from college now and works with his dad. Between the two of them there is very little wait to get launched or retrieved.

Another guy caught this 5 foot, 90 lb shark 2 weeks ago

3 weeks ago a guy trailered his boat down from RP and went out fishing. Within a couple hours he had caught a 5 foot mako and was on his way back to RP. We are going back down on Wed for 5 days. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

They launch in Lobos just like they in Cholla. I have not heard of people catching YT out of Cholla. What I like about Lobos is you can catch big YT within a few hundred yards of shore in 30 feet of water. The farthest reef I fish is 4 miles from shore

Just hope that she does not sell them for what you told her you paid for them

This was in Mx. My AZ registration has expired but I am planning to renew to go to the lakes this summer. Not sure about the CA laws. You could find out easy enough on bloodydecks
