Outdoorsman tall or short bino adapter?
azgutpile replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in Optics and tripods
The short will work fine unless you want some additional height out of your tripod. If you call them they will tell you everything you need to know and more. -
Look at stockystocks.com for cheaper prices on stocks. If I were to bed the factory stock, I would remove enough material to create enough space to have a solid untracked bedding job. With stiffer stocks you could probably go thinner. I would use Devcon steel putty along with pipe tape from the hardware store.

Higher BC bullets retain their velocity better and are not effected by the wind as much. If you really like the Nosler Accubond, I would recommend waiting for the new Accubond LR get back in stock and try them. Most of the other higher BC bullets will expand faster than what you are use to, which you might not like.

I doubt they new the rules or it wasn't in a box originally designed for the ammo. Another good idea is to print out the airlines and TSA policy's and carry them with you when checking your bags.
-
You are not supposed to use TSA locks on firearms. They will inspect the case with you present and then you lock it.

They have never asked me for it and I've sent my spotter and slc binos in for a checkup and cleaning for free except shipping.

Shooting Bows and pellet guns within a 1/4 mile of a building
azgutpile replied to wayno945's topic in The Campfire
The only restrictions that I'm aware of regarding shooting a bow or air rifle are in place at the city level. -
The Havalon knifes are great, but be careful with them. When the blades brake, they tend to go flying; had one bounce off my face earlier this year.

Duck Hunting Etiquette
azgutpile replied to CouesPursuit's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Good for you. I think I would re-read the original post. I didn't imply or complain about where I hunt. It even looks like at least a couple other people in the "community" thought the information was valuable, followed by better ideas on top of mine. That's CWT, right? And let's be honest, any open discussion on any hunting etiquette is worth having. Even if it doesn't apply to you. Ok, how about this. If I get to an area and there is someone already there I should move on ( first come first serve). Especially if I'm close enought to tell if they are sky busting, walking back to their truck, or I can tell how their call sound. If you take my advise about finding another location, all of your concerns listed above would go away. -
Duck Hunting Etiquette

I've hunted ducks in Arizona for 29 years and never had the issues that you are describing. I think I would find some new places to hunt. -
Any interest in a Remington 660 243 win with the laminated wood stock?

Brass splitting help!!!!
azgutpile replied to hunter1026's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
What you have is a case head separation, which is usually caused by excessive head space or to many firings of that brass. The best way to check the head space of the rifle is to take it to a gunsmith and they can use a go/no go gauge and see if it is within spec. Another easy way to check for excessive head space is by placing scotch tape over your case head and see if the bolt or breach will close. Do this with a new case and one of your reloads. If the bolt closes on your reloads and not on the factory you either are setting the resizing die up incorrectly or the die is out of spec. If you have already used the brass several times, the brass just be getting old. You can make your brass last longer by either neck sizing your dies or getting a head space gauge and set up your current dies to bump the shoulder back just slightly. -

explain some if u can Barrel $320 - The last I heard, you could purchase a prechambered barrel from Criterion barrels for $320 which you can either install it yourself, or have a gunsmith install for cheap. Then purchase a decent stock from stocky'sstocks.com for somewhere close to $200 and bed it yourself. Purchase a Timney trigger for $94.00 @ midwayusa.com Then purchase some quality bases and rings. With your current bold face you can choose from any cartridge that has a 308 or 30-06 case diameter. (e.g. 243 win, 7mm-08, 308 win, 25-06, 270 win, 280 Rem, 280 AI, 30-06, etc.) Since you already have the rifle, I would start with a good quality scope first and then work on the rifle.
-
A good quality scope with a parallax adjustment helps out a lot. The problem is that once you purchase a good quality scope, you will immediately start upgrading your rifle to catch up. The good news is that you have a rifle that you can upgrade to a semi custom rifle for much less than what you think, probably close to $600.

I was told a couple ears ago by someone at game and fish that you could tag the animal; however you can't have a weapon. The Steve Chappell shot and lost a bull that was later recovered by game and fish and he had to by it back at the auction. I honestly don't think game and fish knows what's the right thing to do is.
-
I've witnesses a perfect quartering away shot before where everyone thought he would be dead within a hundred yards turn into a 2.5 mile track and still lost the bull. The bull never layer down and, just kept walking in the directions of his cows.

Trying to avoid the crowds in 31
azgutpile replied to latigo11's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
All I know is that all of the roads going up to the Santa Teresa's from the Klondike rd get slammed?... Same as Tripp canyon. The road past the prison is fairly well known as well. You have to do some hiking to get away from the crowds in that unit. -

**SIDE OF HWY DOVE HUNT TOMORROW AFTERNOON!
azgutpile replied to hoghntr's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
It not knowingly occupied, just occupied structure without permission. You can't shoot from or across a maintained road or roadway. On most highways ADOT has the roadways marked and the markings are usually right along the fence on either side of highway.
