What length barrel and synthetic stock? -
If it shoots as good as it looks, you will be carrying that thing all over the hills hunting, regardless of the weight. Have you considered having the stock Hydro dipped with the exact camo you are trying to duplicate?

learn how to walk thru it... If you get caught turn / roll towards the bush. Plus if the bush is small enough, go right over the center instead of skirting it.

My only question is how can a totally logical machine like a computer generate a random number?

Mountaneering/hiking boots vs popular hunting boots
azgutpile replied to creed_az_88's topic in Other Hunting Gear
If anyone is interested, I have a very lightly used pair of the La Sportiva WLFs that I will sell, size 10.5. I purchased them from the Hiking shack a couple summers ago and by the time if figured out that they were to small, it was to late to return them. They have probably 5 miles on them and the are currenty sitting in their box in the closet. -
Tape or a balloon taped to the barrel. You can shoot thru it, but if you have the time, take it off.
-
That is exactly how it was on the north end this year.
-
Every time someone asks about 24B everyone all ways says the southern portion gets hammered. Because of this, the majority of the hunters have migrated to the north. The area you mentioned has seen a big increase in pressure over the last couple years.

There is a couple by Tonto Creek.

What bullet are you using? Are you using the makers advertised BC?

Three of my friends have purchase the 4-16x50 Viper PST. One of them had to send their scope back because of tracking and still isn't happy. Another one is currently having problems getting his previously accurate rifle to shoot groups and the scope is a suspect. The last one hasn't had any problems, but is planning on upgrading to a NightForce. When my first friend returned his scope, the guys at Vortex informed him that the Viper line is sensitive to over torquing and when installing the rings, you should use the minimum torque required, otherwise, it can effect the tracking.

Trigger pull for hunting rifle
azgutpile replied to mulie hunter's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
It depends on how you hunt...mine is at 1 lbs, but I don't load mine until I'm ready to shoot, if you do a lot of hiking with one in the chamber a much heavier pull would be appropriate. -
best cooler canyon or yeti
azgutpile replied to hunter72's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Buy a Colman extreme and call it good. Igloos suck and break after a year, and all the others cost to much. I don't want to worry about my cooler being stolen. Plus they are a lot lighter and I've never seen where they keep ice longer. If I was to buy a nice one, it would be an Engle. -

Which bullet were you using? This is the exact reason why I stopped shooting the barnes triple shocks, they grouped great, but very little is transferred to the animal. 308 cal hole on the way in and dime sized on the way out. From what I understand, they do work better on larger animals and the newer Barnes T-TSX do a better job at expanding. -
Great rifle. Did you buy it with the magnum laminated stock or did you add it later.
-
If the overall rifle isn't to big for her, another option is to purchase the reduced recoil 308 load. http://www.hornady.com/store/308-Win-125-gr-SST-Custom-Lite/

The Montana Mountain area has a lot of ATV traffic, most of which aren't hunters. And the hunters that do use he area rarely leave the roads.

Bruno's has some 168 grain classic hunters in stock. Might be a good backup plan.
