Let's Make a Deal if you have 12 or More Bonus Points
azgutpile replied to azbullelkman's topic in Elk Hunting
just curious if this would classify you as a guide? Compensation being the bonus points? -
I think it is same as mine and I lay it in boat and put it on boat at lake.. It is a back breaker but sure works good. But still a lot lighter than most 4 strokes.

What rifle are you shooting and what modifications have you made to it? -

If you go with a pistol grip head, it will add a couple additional inches. I have slick 624cf and the outdoorsman pistol grip with the extended adaptor and its over my eyes by a couple inches and I'm 6' 3"

once you have gone through the carb, I would do a compression test.

The archery being pushed back a week or two doesn't seem like a bad idea. I'm willing to bet that the archery success rate will actually go up. The only down side is that the archery hunters don't get the first shoot at the largest Bulls, but considering its a lot harder to get an early rifle bull tag, maybe they deserve it.

Send them in and have them fixed. A lot of the time they will fix them for free. Vortex has a great warranty, but so does a water pump from O'Reilly.

Looking to build a big 33 and have some questions

My vote is 338 Lapua Improved with a Defiance Deviant action and a Bartlein Sendaro or hvy varmint. McMillan or Manners stock. -
Using old brass versus New brass for working up load
azgutpile replied to murfys69law's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
If your full length resizing, there isn't much difference; however, if you are adjusting the dies on the fired rounds, so that it bumps the shoulder back far just enough that it chambers smoothly, then you might gain some accuracy. -
Stand close to the target and shoot with your eyes closed focusing on form and consistency. Grip, anchor point, shoulder position and smooth release.

Nice... Like the cupped wings. Where did you get the Old Squaw?

Stiller uses ptg bolts in their predator actions. The only reason two reasons I would change bolts to go to a smaller diameter round, or to tighten up the clearance between the action and the bolt. Probably not neccessary for a hunting rifle

Question about tanning a snake skin - updated with pics
azgutpile replied to CJNAZ's topic in The Campfire
If you tan the skin with the rattles attached, it will the rattle a little darker and quieter. It does seem to make it more durable. You can just pop the rattle off at the last button and then glue it back on later. -
There is no benefit to SMJ's unless the other person has a vest.

210gr. VLD's thoughts for a 300 ultra Mag.
azgutpile replied to SO I HUNT's topic in Long Range Shooting
With the VLD's my rifle likes.020" off the lands. With the 215 Hybrid's, I haven't done a seating depth test yet, but they already shoot as good as my tunes 210 load at.100" off the lands. -
See if you can find a used nightforce with the NP2DD. It's a very clean reticle that I use and like.
-
I might be interested in tagging along, I need to see how the rest of the week goes.

+ 1 on what Lance said and add the 230 grain hybrids as well. H1000 or Retumbo and Fed 215 primers. -
