Suggestions on which long range gun to buy
azgutpile replied to Big Browns's topic in Long Range Shooting
It appears that the B.C. from my ballistic program i are incorrect. You are correct in saying the 6.5 -284 is a great long range round, it's just not my ideal extreme long range deer hunting or long range elk hunting cartridge. I thing something in 7mm SAUM, 7mm wsm or the 7mm rem mag would be a better choice when you balance all the factors. -
I had the same issue with my iPhone. Cleared my history and then clear your cookiies and all is good now.

This isn't really a fair statement. For example, take your 6.5mm 140 grain A-Max (B.C. .550 G1) and put it up against the 180 grain A-Max (B.C .580 G1) in a 300 WM you will see that they have similar muzzle verlocities but with the slightly higher B.C the 300 WM is acutally flatter shooting, has less wind and has more energy at 1,000. -
I think antler restrictions would promote bad genetics alon with what was said earlier about putting the pressure on the two and three year old bucks. Infancy, if you want larger bucks, you should have a spike/ fork season.

Let me guess...You we're putting in for a mule deer tag and then recieved the coues tag on accident, and now you are addicted to coues.

I would say he has a 90" base frame with an additional 7" of extras. I would hang him on the wall for sure.

It would be foolish to pick up and save the head of a rattle snake. I have personally cut the head off a rattle snake and had it bite the stick that I was using to bury it. In addition, you can fairly easily identify the snakes by its tale (The Mojave rattle snake has grey and black coon tale). You can also just take a picture and start moving towards the hospital.

How to clean a rifle chamber
azgutpile replied to swaro06's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
A brush and mop -
You either are getting high pressure ( bad ammo or bad barrel and chamber) or have a rough chamber. Is there any chance you can post a couple pictures of the used cases ( primer side). Either way, I wouldn't shoot it until you have someone check it out.

Set up a trail camera next time you leave your trailer. I've done this on a couple of occasions, but nothing ever occured.

They would probably take off with all of your equipment and blend back into the desert.

I beg to differ, even if your were to buy a used action lets say at $350.00. I have a gunsmith true my actions for $300.00 a piece. so all in all your into a trued remington action for 650. Diffrent buildera have diffrent definitions of trued/ blue printed and and yea you can get one trued for $350 possibly less, but you wont get your money out of it when uou sell it. In addition, you wont get all of the features that you would a custom action. I've done it both ways and I still wonder if the smith did my Remington action correctly. -

It will be expensive to shoot... Look up how much the brass costs. Also, it will have more than "very little re-coil". It is however, a great round. -

I'm a fan of having one built, but I'm not a fan of using factory actions. Purchase a stiller or similar action, custom barrel( Schneider, hart, krieger, etc), stock (McMillan or Manners), jewel trigger and choose something in the 7mm or 6mm range for caliber. Btw, I recommended HS to a buddy and the stock is a POS, this will put you close to $2,000. If your still looking to stay under $1000 buy a savage. They come with a button rifled barrel, floating bolt face and the accutrigger is supposed to be nice. In addition, if you decide to make some changes, you do a lot of them by yourself. -
If you are taking the animal to a processor and have a way of directly loading into the back of the truck use the traditional gutting method. You can leave the skin on only if the processor is really close( keepers it cleaner). If you have to cary it any distance use the gutless method. To answer your other question, you don't have to cut/ crack the pelvis to remove the bowels. Just use your finger to seperation it from the pelvis, cut where necessary , tie it off with a piece of string and pull it thru.

It's just like your truck, the fronts wear out faster. At least that sounds good to me.

Two other benifits of goats. They will take care of your weeds during the off season and you don't have to worry about getting kicked in the head.

I always get laughed at when I talk about buying pack goats. They are light, easy to feed on the trail and at home, they can go anywhere, you usually dont have to lead them, they dont drink much, and the fit in the back of your truck. you can still do the walking, the goats are the way to. The down side is that they run to you when the get scared and I've heard stories of them doing rain dances on cars. However, in your situation it sounds like you would benifit from an animal that can be ridden.

I believe the both have the same size scabbard (j34 & Dragonfly). I have the j34 and I like the way it fits and rides. The side pockets are not very accessible when the straps are tight and the main pocket isn't very usable when its zipped up. Also, I'm not to excited about the way the top pockets face downward... i worry about leaving it open an loosing items. But overall the pack is by far the best that I've own. If I had to do it all over again and since I to have a large gun ( that's what she said), my next pack will be the gunslinger II.

Don't get leupold. Look at talley or Warne. -
The diffrence between say 1.5" and 1.75" ring height, at 1000 yards is approximately 2.25"

From what I see, the most abused government land in Arizona has been the state trust land. Plus access is an issue unless you actively hunting. Also, I know most of you on this forum are for Romney, and that is fine, but you better be vocal when he tries to go thru with his plan to sell off public land to reduce the deficit.
