I've been looking for something similar for my next rifle and the scopes I'm considering are the ones you mentioned. If weight is an issue go with the zeiss. If you can over look the weight go with the NF, you will get a scope that is nearly bullet proof. Leupold... I haven't had much luck with and I feel they are overpriced for what they are.

Can you say where?

Zeiss did a good job with the new HD5; however, they are still missing the boat with regards to their reticles, at least for a longrange scope. Since you are looking at the Nightforce Velocity 1000 reticle, I would assume that you are planning on one going with R-Z 600 or R-Z 800 reticle in the Zeiss. The problem is at .35 MOA, the reticle thickness in the Zeiss is too thick in my opinion. The NightForce is a .1 MOA reticle which allows much more precise aiming. The other concern I have with the Zeiss is that it is brand new, but I have a feeling that . That being said, you would save 11.6 ounces with the Zeiss and have approximatly $800 left in your pocket. With the Nightforce, you will have a much stronger scope, more internal adjustment, illuminated reticle.

Also, ask your smith how much it is going to cost to have it trued up and then call up some of the custom actions shops like Stiller and see what they are asking for a new one. You will probably see that you save some by going with a remignton, but the custom will retain its value better.

What do you you see in the picture?

In 25 years, I have yet to receive a Bull tag thru the second pass of the draw, they have all been thru the bonus point pass. Some people are just luckier than others, but I'm not one of them.

Sure did, using your glass.

I don't know about the Nikon, but most of the cheaper rangefinders have a wider beam that prevents them from ranging things thru small openings. I would tell him to keep it as well.

If you look further down in the comment section they mention the following components. X-Treme Custom action Titannium Hart Barrel, muzzle dia. ..580 @25" W/ break McM Edge stock You could probably buy all the parts and have a builder put them togather for half the price.- 5 replies

His technique will get you close, but it isn't perfect. What it doesn't take into effect is that the bullet still has to travel thru the air the entire unadjusted distance which means it is effected by drag. He would be better off taking his MOA adjustment (12 MOA) and multiplying it by the cosine making the adjustment 9.24 MOA. Again, his technique should work fine when shooting out to <500 yards.

I haven't had a bird done since my guy moved out of state. I recently found that he reopened up in Utah and plan to send him all my future bird. http://www.crawfordstaxidermy.com/index.html

Az killer is correct... 3rd choice is a different story.

If it wasn't for the bonus point system, I would never get a tag. The last 4 bull tags that I recieved were thru the bonus point round. I agree that it doesn't help a lot with the second pass, but I have more of a concern with how they assign you with your random draw number.

It looks like they are all good eating ducks.... Except for may be the smaller black one in the back. I have a pintail on the wall and it is by far my favorite duck mount. -

+2... In addition, maybe we can have a few of our December archery hunts back.I don't understand, G$F said it was not about success rate. It sure the heck wasn't CWD. I have a hard time believing it wasn't because of the precieved higher success rate of archery hunters using bait. Besides, what's an easier argument to win; saving the animals from disease, or changing the rules because hunters are too succesful? In addition, if baiting truly did increase the archery success rate, banning it should decrease the ratio of archery to rifle kills, which should allow G&F to reopen alot of the units currently closed during the December archery hunt. So, in your opinion they lied to push an agenda because it was easier to sell CWD? I don't think it was a complete lie... CWD probably added a tiny little bit to their reasoning. I keep asking myself why would they still allow baiting in some of the states that already have CWD if it helped spread the disease? -

Can someone point me in the direction of what exactly they just passed? Will it effect placing salt in front of my trail camera? -
Get a jetboil with the coffee press and never look back... You can also use it for soup later in the day.

I also have had better luck with H1000 compared to Retumbo. Also note that the RUM is designed with a lot of freebore, to reduce pressure, so if you are looking to seat the bullets just off the lands, or in the lands, I would recommend starting a couple grains lower than you would with a SAAMI OAL. (FYI, I have a 27" Schneider P5 barrel.) My load is 210 HVLD 86.5 grains of H1000 seated .020" off the lands, Federal 215M primers Nosler Brass. 3,050 FPS My best group was 1.5" @ 750 yards My buddy's rifle likes 92 grains of Retumbo under a Barnes 180 TSX.
