Mike, its 5,6, or 7. you missed the pronghorn in the last pic
-
I bet not, mountain lions don't care too much about automobiles or anything else. it was likely nearby just holding tight.

your looking at roughly $550/hr for charter(helicopter's time from its base to you, location, then back to base) plus survey time. regular stuff (Bell 206) is gonna run you around $900/hr, if you want to get real close to the ground, its going to be closer to $1300 like Mike Priest said . For a full day of surveys, your in right around $7k. Fixed wing is a lot cheaper, charters should run you in the neighborhood of $300-500/hr I think your better off in a fixed wing with a skilled pilot if your trying to learn a unit, anything lower than 300 AGL and your missing the "big picture" if you want to identify individuals, then copter is the way to go. The cost with copters is really tied into the maintenance (not just fuel), they are costly torn down, and rebuilt. Either way you split it, its still more than good pair of boots and a few weeks off work!

Gopro for Archery Hunt
dsturla replied to out2hunt's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
sternum harnesses are nice for a lot of hunt filming but not appropriate for the shooter to wear. I learned the hard way last January on a pig hunt. I shot a pig at 6 feet and he never once was in the frame. Think about which direction your chest is facing when you fling an arrow. (example below) -
Using the trail cam's IR flash to Trigger a send or third IR flash
dsturla replied to rednrusty's topic in Trail Cameras
check out the older reconyx trail cams, I think they allowed you to hook up additional IR flashes. good luck! -
I counted somewhere around 5 lions that were coming in to this spot and an occasional Tom. It doesn't sound like a lot, however, within a 1 mile radius it is a lot. I had other locations with an equal amount of activity and many larger Toms passing through due to the amount of females hanging around. pic #2 is a nice tom, great photos thanks for sharing

PM me if you know of any east of the 85. would love to talk!

I have noticed that if they aren't on a kill, they may cover 1-4 miles a night until they are on back on a kill. After 3-7 days feeding, they make a large movement out of the general area. I wouldn't hold your breathe waiting for that cat to show back up.
