    WTB - Badlands 2200 pack

You can't go wrong with the 2200. It makes a pack job much easier and It's a very confortable pack. In my opinion its one of the best packs on the market.

    southern NW

Hey can anyone tell me how the mule deer hunting south of Lordsburg is? I have the opportunity to a land owner tag in that area and I wanted to see what you guys could tell me about it. Most of the property is located around the pyramid mountains.
  6. They are both great rifles, I personally have one of each and I love them both. I am shooting a fixed up 300 ultra mag that I love even more, which is just outstanding for the long shot. If I were to choose between the 7mm and the 270 I would pick the 7mm. I have killed elk and coues with both calibers. I took a nice 5x5 bull with the 270 and it took 4 shots in the chest before he went down. I shot a big 6x6 bull once in the chest with the 7mm and he took about five steps and fell over dead. I watched my dad nail a nice coues one year at 510 yards with the 7mm. The 7mm will definately reach out there. If you pick the 7mm go to Harry Lawson and have him do a trigger job and put one of his custom muzzle breaks on it and your girl friend will handle it just fine. Lawson muzzle breaks are great because they don't kill your ears and also if your shooting from a prone position It won't send dirt flying all over the place. Anyways I hope this helps.

I'm currently using an old RCBS and I don't even know which one it is. I'll look into the Lee Powder Measure scoops and see what kind of price I can find. Thanks for the help.

I just looked up both the scales on the net and it looks like If I'm going to spend the money the chargemaster combo is the best deal. Thanks.

  15. A picture of this buck is already located on the main website, but a couple of people told me I sould post a pic in the discussion forum. I shot him opening day of the November hunt in unit 33 about a 20 minute drive from my house. I use a 300 ultra mag and hit him through the back of the neck at 301 yards. I have been hunting a couple of big buck in this area the last three years. I killed a real nice palmated buck in the general are a few years ago that was pushing the 100 inch mark. I was finally lucky enough to get my tag on one of the big boys in the area.

It looks like they might be rubbing that gland next to their eyes on branches or something. That's a sweet buck by the way. I like the palmation on the main beam I've seen that type of palmation a lot in 33.

    Anyone shoot a bear yet?

That's a very nice looking bear there Triple Seven. Lets hear the sory. Did you glass him up, call him in, use hounds, etc.? -Tracy All I did was find an area that was thick and loaded with fresh bear sign. Once you find the fresh sign all you have to do is still hunt through the thick brush. I was in a creek bottlon and I was walking about 10 steps very slowly and then I would stop for a couple of minutes. I continued to do this down throw the creek bottom and I just came across the bear about 50 yards from me. Thats about all their was to it. I believe I could go into unit 29 and still hunt areas with fresh sign and be successful almost every year.

    Anyone shoot a bear yet?

That is a nice bear? How was the coat, what it all black? It looks like the back end has some reddish tint to it, or is that just blood? When the sunlight hit the coat you could see a little bit of red, but I consider him all black.

    my Nov. rifle deer 2007

Thanks for the compliment on my deer. That shed you have reminds me of a double main beam buck I was chasing a few years back. He was very non-typical with 7 on one side and 4 one the other with about a 7 inch eye gaurd on the left side. I saw him eight different times but when the hunt started he vanished. I havent seen him since. I really think a cat ended up taking him out. He was only about 5 miles from where I killed my drop tine buck.
