Well for the the 3rd consecutive year I find myself posing for a picture with another quality buck with my bow. I glassed this buck up pushing 10 does up a hill and notice he has a good main frame and good width. I decide to make a stalk on this buck and once I was within 150 yards of the buck the wash I was in became unpassible, so my only option was to walk into the open and right towards the herd. With all the deer staring at me I decided to put my bow above my head to simulate antlers and proceeded towards the deer ( I dont know why I decided to do this). It allowed me to get within shooting distance of the buck, I believe they thought I was another buck. With the wind in my face I took a few more steps and busted a few does, they ran to my right and at this moment I heard what sounded like rattling. There he was, 50 yards to my left raking a tree. He looks right at me, i put my bow above my head to simulate another buck, he proceeds to rake this tree violently. The buck then starts walking to my right and at this moment I lower my bow and nock an arrow. I look to my right and rangefind a tree that was in the direction of where i thought the buck was heading. As he walks behind that tree at 42 yards I pull my Mathews bow back, as he steps out I grunt. I put my 40 yard pin low behind his shoulder and let it fly. "Wack", the buck takes off with my arrow penetrated into his heart and I watched him pile up 50 yards to my right. This buck has a little character to him, he has a main frame three point on his left with a 3 1/2" tine coming off his G2 and a 1 1/2 kicker off his main beam above his ear. He has a 21 1/2" inside spread and 24" outside spread and 19" tall. I taped him out at 155", not a monster but a very nice buck with a bow and I will take it. Technically he is a 4x5 and my third consecutive 4x5 in January.

Well 2010 started off a little slow for me, not seeing the quality bucks I have seen in the past. I have only been out glassing a few times when I decided to hit an area I have never hunted in Dec/Jan before. So I hit the road serching for a buck that will top my last years 165'' 4x5 I shot in Jan 09. I pulled out my binos and within 30 seconds i had a good buck pushing 4 does. I grabbed my bow and took off following the buck into a cut running up a mountain, I took off fast around the mountain to sit just below the backside of the saddle the deer were heading to. A small 2x2 ran over the saddle 38 yrds in front of me, I waited for what seemed to be 30 min but was only 5. Out of the corner of my eye i see the buck walking fast my direction. I kneeled down and pulled my bow back waiting for him to step out broadside when he turned and was headind straight for me. He stopped at 15 yrds and I let him have it straight in the chest. With my arrow burried to the knock he took off and piled up 20 yards to my right. I couldnt beleive I just shot my second 160 plus buck back to back. The first picture is from 1/16/10, He scored at 163 5/8". The second is from 1/4/09. He scored at 164 6/8

That is what I had in mind with the pedestal mount, maybe a cedar tree with two branches. One branch higher than the other and have one at a right turn and one a left turn.

Checked out my cameras this weekend and the buck I call Brutus and his big brother which I have not been able to get a decent picture of until now are still showing up along with two new bucks. 5 more days and counting, any guesses on scores now.

Just from judging my buck from last year I would say the 8 point is in the 90's and the 10 point is in low 100's

This is my 2nd year hunting coues deer and I am having trouble scoring this buck, the one in the back ground looks bigger but he will not give a good picture, anybody have a rough score.

This coues deer hunting is really addicting and can't wait to add another deer to my wall with a bow. Allready have an 80.5 with a rifle last year.
