RoughCut replied to June's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I guess they are checking for Rabies, that would really suck. I tell you what that bobcat walked into the wrong bar. I can just imagine the look on their faces. "who brought there house cat, oh wait...... Nice to know my hometown is making the news. -

2009 Elk and Antelope Application numbers

I told you guys not to get excited. -
I always like inside info from the "I know a guy" guy. Keeps my spirtits up.

I really love those guys. I would shop there any day over Cabelas and Bass Pro. They always took expired coupons no questions asked as well as returns with or without receipts. Cabelas is terrible, good luck finding anything below retail there. The sales they run are a joke and good luck getting anything shipped to you for under 12 bucks.

Anybody have an idea of what Clay charges for a coues shoulder mount?

And we have a funny guy -
I apologize if this has already been posted but wanted to get some thoughts. Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act This is the Blair Holt Firearm Licensing & Record of Sale Act of 2009. We just learned yesterday about this on the Peter Boyles radio program. Even gun shop owners didn't know about this because it is flying under the radar. Basically this would make it illegal to own a firearm - any rifle with a clip or ANY pistol unless: ·It is registered ·You are fingerprinted ·You supply a current Driver's License ·You supply your Social Security # ·You will submit to a physical & mental evaluation at any time of their choosing ·Each update - change or ownership through private or public sale must be reported and costs $25 - Failure to do so you automatically lose the right to own a firearm and are subject up to a year in jail.. ·There is a child provision clause on page 16 section 305 stating a child-access provision. Gun must be locked and inaccessible to any child under 18. They would have the right to come and inspect that you are storing your gun safely away from accessibility to children and fine is punishable for up to 5 yrs. in prison.

The recommendations will be on the Game and fish website the 11th of April. They are the same as the regs essentially. So just 2 and a half weeks more.

How Would You Hunt This Coues Spot?
RoughCut replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Sounds like a lot of you guys like to get up close and personal with those whiteys. I would wonder how many deer sneak over the top of that ridge when you skyline yourselves. I don't know if I would get much closer than where the picture was taken from. I would try and get a better angle on those cuts however. Scent issues would be way reduced from that range. You wouldn't box yourself in from farther away and drastically reduce glassing areas. I am not sure I would key on that area in the first place with that dirt road right there. Just my thoughts -
For me it wouldn't matter the size. The experience I think for most of us define a trophy. The harder I had to work it the more I would appreciate that particular deer. Personally I think I wouldn't go after a small two point with a bow. I try to steer towards more mature bucks. That small two point may be a beast some day, whereas an older buck will be a lot closer to their potential. Just my thoughts, but honestly I've gotta hand it to anybody who has Spot and Stalked a Coues Deer

I too haven't had any trouble with the border units. I was in 36C last year. Though I had two encounters w/ illegals they weren't threatening in any way. The first group we glassed up were just trekking over the mountains. The second occured in the evening when we were sitting by our campfire. An older mexican man saw the fire and was asking us how to get to the main road because he wanted to turn himself in. (speaking only spanish, of course). The guy looked pretty bushed.

My 1st Bobcat! WOOHOO!!!!!!!
RoughCut replied to Gr8 White Jr's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Ummm, sorry to burst your bubble, but that is your every day typical annoying house cat. Just Kidding awesome kill. -
Can you guys give some input on when you think Whitey's Mulies and Elk shed their horns. Do they all shed at the same time. When would you say they are absolutely done shedding by. I know it's about this time but wanted more specifics. THanks for the thoughts
-
I wouldn't count on that. If anything it will be the same as last year. As opposed to the small increase of applicants year over year. If we are lucky there might be a small drop.

Funny how the Apaches of the San Carlos hold the Mule Deer Sacred, but their fellow Apaches to the North hold All deer Sacred.

I am completely with Coues&Coyotes on the "let em have it" front. Next Time you see that, take a few of em down if you can. It's not only pretty fun, but I wouldn't doubt if those yotes took out that cow while she was birthing, judging by the time of the year it is. Ranchers will love you for that.

That is awesome, I saw on the Today Show about six months ago, some leftist was trying to convince everyone that there were only about a dozen bald eagles left on the planet. I think they were trying to make a case for protecting some specific habitat. When I was in Alaska, we went to an eskimo fishing camp where seriously I couldn't count all of the Bald eagles. It was truely remarkable. I would say at least 40 of them were in view, at any given moment. Now I am all for protecting habitat when people have there facts right, but it's a shame they let someone that clearly doesn't know there stuff to preach to millions of people wrong information. Go Media!! You should be excited that you just witnessed 1/6th of the global Bald Eagle population. Really Awesome find, Nice Pics. "I will get off my pedestal, sorry."

When does the San Carlos start selling tags?
RoughCut posted a topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I though there website would show the new list of tags and prices by now. Does anybody have any info???
