Alright I am not going to do all the math cause it would take a while and most people wouldn't read it anyway. But you are wrong. Think of it this way, for the antelope hunt I drew two years ago there were 6 tags and almost 1,000 applicants. So if you excluded 3 years of tag holders from the draw the pool would be 982 applicants instead of 1,000. Statistically not much changed. Ok so I guess I did do a little math but hopefully everyone follows. Thank you Wait periods are nothing but a feel good exercise to appease those that don't draw.

I'm sure she is a nice girl, but I'm just trying to say that she has 365 days a year to complete 3 draws. Every year there is consistently problems with every draw. It's ridiculous, they need to get it right. It shouldn't be rocket science You're an idiot. She doesn't do the draw, that's done by a computer. For your pea brain...... she's on the phone trying to fix a problem created by someone else and they're crappy programming work.

They hired a new IT guy last year, I'd start there.

You need to look at your choices and the likelihood of not drawing your 1st choice in the Bonus Pass, drawing your 2nd, then missing the opportunity to draw the 1st choice in the 1-2 Pass because you already draw and are out of the draw.
-
Regarding early archery, every hunt that had nr tags drop to the 1-2 Pass, issued the remaining tags under the nr cap except one. So, if you follow Thomas11's note, you can get a ratio of apps vs nr tags in that 1-2 pass and calculate rough odds. Bonus Points come into play so those with more points have the advantage of more chances for a lower draw number. Personally, If I wanted to hunt, I would heed AZbugler's advise and change units.

You HAD no chance, you now have a slim chance. I didn't need to check.

The new rule is "up to" 50% of the nr quota in the Bonus Pass. It's not a hard limit. There will be hunts that have less than 5% drawn in the Bonus pass and the remainder will be available in the 1-2 Pass. If there is a single nr tag available it cannot be drawn in the Bonus Pass.

yes, typo fixed.

Congrats to your pops.
-
Congrats, great bull.

I was incorrect. The AZ draw system looks at the application as a whole vs the individual(s) on that application. As such, the computer will see a party app with a nr, as a nr app and all tags in the party will have to meet the cap.

Pretty easy to just call and ask.

I would guess it's a typo and rifle unit 9 should be the early date, same as 27 rifle (9/9-9/15) with archery following.

Congrats to all.

Very nice, congrats.

There is no distinction between a resident and non resident in the draw process until the party leaders number is pulled. At that time the computer will look to fill all the party's tags, resident and non resident. Residents on the app will have their tags pulled from the resident quota, nr tags come from the nr quota. If the computer can't fill one of the tags, the entire party is bounced.

Well done, helping them out.
-
Sue for what? "Not fair"? They don't have to give nr a single tag.
-
That's my belief after looking at the applicant pools (elk). I could be wrong and time will show us how it plays out.
-
Correct, residents will gain 5% of the Bonus Pass tags, NR will drop to 5% but NR won't draw the full 5% remainder in the 1-2 Pass because of the number of residents. There will be no guarantee % for NR. The Dept had to make the change because there are multiple hunt codes where a NR has zero chance at a tag unless they are in the max pool. The new draw report will clearly show those hunt codes and with app services and magazines also pointing that out, they were forced to make some sort of change to keep new NR apps coming in. The change is a win for all groups but the max pool NR.
-
Veery Nice, congrats.
-
Don't think it has passed yet but it will. It will give NR with few points a better chance at tags and will also increase the tags drawn by residents. A win for both those groups, at a cost to the NR with a high number of points. They had to do something because there are hunts a NR had zero chance of drawing. It seems even though that gets mentioned, few NR take the time to actually understand if all they're doing is buying a point.

They look at both choices. If there are no tags for your first, they go to your 2nd. Also, if a guy drew tag 15 and got bounced, you could have drawn his tag as an "alternate". After the draw is done they re issue tags from bounced apps, retaining the original tag number. That's how I drew my tag in 2013. A 12 point guy was rejected after drawing the tag. Somewhat rare now because they call.

The only way the system can find your original info, is if you use that same info when creating the Portal account.
