    Sunflower Fire...how it started

Thats awesome that you caught them. I hope you got/get a reward Don't want a reward. The whole thing is ugly. I just look forward to the monsoon to squelch this fire so the area "may" open up again. I am anxious to check my camera, or what's left of it, and get back to scouting. It makes me sick to read some of the idiotic comments posted at the bottom of the online news articles. Emotion and lack of intelligence from people obviously not from AZ, Libs, heck.....even racist comments.....huh? Being a father of two sons in their mid-20's, I have mixed feelings about the young man that was arrested. Yup, I'm pissed that my favorite coues area burned up. Yup, it was REALLY stupid what he did. On one hand, he broke the law, and there are penalties. On the other hand, I guess I have some sympathy.....he may be a good kid, just got a little crazy (been there done that). I pray he can get past this, all these boys learn a lesson, and he can move on. Great post Brad.

coconino forest changes starting in may

I have not read all the thread but up to this one only. You are right it is unacceptable and our next step is to comply. The time to fight this was in meetings that have been posted in the past with nobody showing up except the greenies to fight it. The problem lies with us....... The people that use the outdoors and yet fail to unite from one group to the next to icrease numbers. The Off-road groups blame it on the huntting groups. The huntting groups blame it on the quads. The quads blame it on the RV's. The RV blame it on ect, ect, ect..... The greenies blame it on all of us and stand togather in numbers to screw us over.

    Why Do I hunt?

Here are my thoughts but what are some of yours? I spend my time in the woods with friends that I consider family. From this I find a brotherhood that shares the same interest and respect of a heritage that has been passed down to us over the years. Everything I do on a hunt or before a hunt is intended on getting my animal but that is not my measure of a successful hunt. If it was I would have burned out on hunting years ago. Its me the outdoors and the animal. This is one of the biggest reasons why I dont use electronics on my hunt or trail cameras as I dont consider that ethical hunting. But that is just my opinion only. My measure of success on a hunt comes in many ways. Learning new things or new methods from people with different experience improves a person who is willing to open the mind. Sharing ideas and creating a solution to achieve a goal as a team builds character. This team is not built in the field but rather in the camp and then applied in the field individually by all members with the same shared goal. Of course it is the time in the outdoors finding out who we are and what we are made of. There is nothing like the smell of a cold crisp morning when the chill gets right down to your bones. Thats when you find out what you are made of. Do you have to stay there or can you go back to camp and sit around the nice warm fire with a hot coffee. Sure you can, but then you will know what youre made of. The feeling you get when you have an animal in your sights sometimes at long range and others when you can smell the animal 5 yards away from you. Your heart beating at rates you cant achieve by running alone, even uphill over long distance. When it snorts and blows snot all over you but still cant see you. Realizing depending on what youre hunting it can turn on you and make you the hunted. Knowing that at any moment even the sound of your breath or a blink of your eyes can scare it away. That is when you realize youre alive and you have a decision to make. Is this encounter worth the shot to call it a successful hunt? At times yes its a no brainer, but the hunt is over and the challenge is gone for that moment. I find my success or reason for hunting in what brought me there. My friends, my family, the camaraderie and an opportunity to know Im alive with the freedom to live my life on my terms. In all honesty, I really could hunt with a Kodak camera and have a successful hunt. .

    Shame on you

I'm not going to take the time to read all the pages.... I read the first page of post. With that said, I hope you picked up all the beer cans they left behind as that is the way most of us do it in Arizona. We pick up after ourself and then after any asshats that left trash behind also. If you did not clean the mess up yourself then you are just as bad as the ones that left it behind!!! Now quit bitching and educate the next group that disrepects the land instead of whinning about it.
  19. I apologize this has nothing to do with hunting but I have a couple of questions about trail cameras. I figure this site has a ton of knowledge on the topic of trail cameras. This is why I asked the question here and not at some store with an inexperienced sales person. I work in the mining industry and lately we have been being hit on some of our plants by people stealing copper wire. I know having a camera will not stop the theft. But it will hopefully give us a picture of the thief to give to the LEO as a lead in catching the thieves. My question is; what type or brand/model of camera is there that can take high definition color pictures at night time? Also is there one out there that we can access the picture remotely from a desktop computer or smart phone? Thanks in advance for the help, Shane
  20. Lance, that is a really nice system. I read through the web page and it is something I will present to corporate to see what they say about it. Thanks to both you and Amanda for the suggestions.
  21. PM sent with my phone number.
  22. This has nothing to do with a hunting story but it fits anyways. I was riding my bike cycle across the reservation a long time ago while heading to criminal science class at SCC. As I approached Thomas road going north on Alma School rd a pack of dogs came from a house charging at me snapping and snarling their teeth, growling and barking as they chased me. I started to pedal away as fast as I could and was making ground on them when my hat blew off my head. Well it was my favorite hat so I hit the brakes jumped off the bike and as loud as I could started growling, screaming and running towards them with my hands in the air. They turned away and ran from me as I leaned over and picked up my hat.
