Im not a big Football fan of any kind truthfully. But it would have been nice to the cards win, or at least see Pittsberg win without controversy.

No mater if the toes touched down or not. The last turn-over was an incomplete pass not a fumble.

Ok after spending a little over an hour reading another thread on here from start to finish, one question came to mind. I have my own opion on what makes a successful hunt for me. Now I'm curious what others use to gage thier hunts as a success or failure. I was not going to start first but what the heck it is cut and dried for me. It's the hunt itself and not the kill that makes a successful hunt. If I dont kill an animal, thats ok. I can buy meat from the store at a much cheaper price than the cost of hunting so thats not it. Again it is the hunt itself and the time outdoors in the field with family and friends that makes for success. Well what are your thoughts?

One word.....Awsome!!

Cliffs welding in Mesa did the extra sub-frame and rear receiver on the fifthwheel trailer. I have brakes on all axles of both trailers with control of them from within the cab of my truck. The set up works fine as long as I use the anti-sway hitch and bars... with out them it would be suicide! None the less, it is not something for the average person to pull without professional experience pulling excess wieght. It WILL keep you on your toes.

What makes a successful hunt for ..... YOU?

Great answer and well stated. -
For sleeping and getting there. For getting to that one special spot before the hike in the rest of the way.

Nice VJC sticker....here is your wave.

Thank you, I'm going to Dillion as soon as I get a chance next week. I'm thinking that it may have benn bent by something but I dont how or when.
-
I have not used my Dillion 550 in over a month. Now that I have went out to load some 44 mag the Primer Slide is binding and not returning all the way to the shell plate. Here is a list of things I have already looked at and they look ok...so what am I missing? 1. I have checked to ensure I did not have the bolts to tight and they are ok. 2. Pulled it apart to check for some powder that may have gotten under it ......it ok. 3. Cleaned it with Rubbing Alcohol as Dillion requests. 4. Checked the spring and it is ok. 5. It is even hard to slide when you use your hand to move it. 6. Inspected the primer Track Bearing....it appears to be ok with minimal wear on it at best. 7. Cleaned everything real good and put it back togather with no luck in it working right. Tha darn thing was working just fine last time I used it. Now I'm baffled as to why it is not working right.

I saw the same type of thing 2 years ago down in 36B. We sat there and watched a few bucks go at it for about 20 minutes with Does close by. Keep in mind this was also the October hunt when we saw it. Last week down in 36B on our hunt we saw quit a few bucks running with Does but could not seal the deal on any of them.

I'm headed out in the morning (Wednesday) to 36B. You will see me in my Blue 78 CJ7 running around with another White CJ7.

Best thread I have read on this site to date. Thats some tough old coots right there.(Respectfully Speaking) Kinda brings back some memories of my Grandfather who has long sence passed. Whew....choke, choke, na it's nothing I got something in my eye. Think of the knowledge we all could learn from that group of hunters.

My hunting partner.. "Can we leave yet Bubba?" Nice choice in a hunting partner.

Great information in this post. I work in Sedona and we get our share of them dropped off from the truck to pay back the coyotes. I am proud to say, I have managed to arrest a few for felony possession of forged instruments (fake id) which got them sent back to try again another day. The folks your seeing spend anywhere from 3-20 days walking through the desert without food or water. Only to be picked up and transported to various cities throughout America. They see America as a place for hope, and send chunks of their earnings back to Mexico to help their families, and pay off whoever got them here for say $2000.00. They are more than willing to tell you exactly how they got to where they are when you get them into booking. Of course they don't know anyone's name, but they do have a family member back home who gives the money to the coyote. I guess I don't worry to much about the illegals coming up to me while hunting since I have grown up hunting in 36A and B, as well as 34A and B. I didn't realize they were running in 34A You must be further South then where we were. They bother me less than the rattlesnakes, other than the trash they leave behind. Most of the ideas shared here are great pearls of wisdom. Having a buddy is nice, but my old man stayed down there 5 days alone the year before the 4 day hunt became a 6 day hunt. Never had a problem. Then again we haven't seen any coyotes or big packs. Of course someone always meets the 5%. Here's to hoping its none of us! Very good post, and how true for the most part.

Almost time to hit the hills!!!!

Good luck on your hunt. I will be heading down there to 36B also this Wednesday morning. -
Well the plan was to go down to hunt unit 36B and do some scouting for our up coming deer hunt. The area we scouted is about 20 miles west of I-19 and about 3 or so miles north of the US/Mex border. I have hunted this area every year for that last 10 years or so and like the area. the percise location I cant give out or I would have to find new hunting partners. I'm sure some of you will know the area just from the pictures. As you can see from some of the pics and vids, the weather did not agree with this idea for the most part. If it was not raining then it had just finished or was getting ready to start again most of the day. The wind was also a huge factor in the days events as it was blowing all day long hard enough to keep the critters bedded down and the fog restricted the glassing in the first part of the day. Not all was lost though, we did some glassing ,but mostly ventured into new areas we have not hunted before and revisited other areas to scout out the water holes for water or no water. All in all it turned out to be a pretty nice day. We saw alot of does (mostly bedded) but had no luck with seeing any bucks on this trip anyway. If you have scouted this unit this year post up on what you saw. And then the nice weather we had for most of the day. It did clear up later in the afternoon though.
-
Leave camp long before the sun comes up and return long after it goes down. Take a nap in the field if needed and pack a lunch. Thats just my thoughts and how I do it anyway.
-
Good job on the 2 bucks you glassed up, but I'm just wondering. What part of the unit where in that it was a perfect morning? I know where we were it was not suitable for glassing in the morning. I'm not saying my trip was not a good trip, as a matter of fact it was a great trip and concidered successfull.

You might do a search for Universal Ranch RV park in Arivica. They have RV sites you should be able to rent. I'm also going down there this W/E to do some scouting for my hunt and I will look around and post some more info if I find out anything that might help you. Good luck on your hunt. Here is a link to the RV park. http://www.universalranch.com/

I've camped at the Arivica Lake group camp area (Top Side) for the last 10 years and never had any problems. There is alot of good hunting around that area too if you know where to go. But you do have to stay on your toes while out and about in the hills due to border issues. I shot this little toad (102") down there three years ago on opening morning sunrise.

Nice ......Very nice Buck.

WinMag replied to GodIsGood's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
X2 I agree. BTW I'm a new member on here and this is my first post, I have been lurking for awhile though. Hello to everybody and thanks for a good resource site for hunting and swapping ideas for the hunts. I will post up some pics of my first Elk (Archery) and my first Coues Deer (Rifle) as soon as I figure out how to post them.
