    Kowa TSN 554

It's one of the best purchases ive ever made. It's amazing. You can hardly tell it's in your pack. It blows every other spotter in it's class out of the water. I wouldn't recommend it for trying to locate animals with because of its narrow field of view. But for sizing animals up that you found with your binos, I wouldn't carry anything else. Not a swaro. Not a zeiss. Nothing. Unless, I was planning on hardly ever getting more than a mile away from the truck. Then I would use the big 85mm kowa. Or the big stx swaro. The image quality of the little 554 kowa is so close to the 65 swaro that you couldn't convince me to take the weight penalty of the swaro. It does have a narrow field of view and also short eye relief. But the weight and space savings makes you forget about those two things real quick.

New Mexico UNIT 27 Mule Deer... HELP Please

I didn't hunt mule deer. I hunted whitetail. I saw multiple 130-140" type deer. Most of the deer that I saw were huntable huntable by day hunting. I didn't see anything at all that intrigued me enough to want to backpack hunt it if I had the mule deer tag. There were multiple camps with mule deer hanging from Geronimo trail to cloverdale. I would say the public stuff gets hunted pretty hard. Most of the really good mule deer turf that I saw was locked up pretty tight and posted heavily. You shouldn't have a problem filling your tag. But finding a big old deer might be a different story. I could be wrong.

New Mexico UNIT 27 Mule Deer... HELP Please

All flat land around the base of the MTN range in the unit has mule deer. Private property is tricky but there is plenty of huntable deer. Focus on all of the flat mesquite draws that leave the mtn range headed into the valley on the east side of the range. It's an over rated unit in my opinion unless one has access to private land.
  7. Im trying to help a friend replicate crossbow bolts that were made by him from somebody else. Does anybody know what fletchings/vanes these are? They are very stiff. I can't find them online anywhere. Thanks. Creed

Yup found them this morning finally. Aero vane ii's. I looked at aerovanes but didn't realize they had three versions. Thanks Bridger.

What is the name of these fletchings?

Ive looked everywhere online and can't find them. The individual that sold him the crossbow made three of these bolts for him and wants to charge him to make a dozen more. Im trying to figure out if I can make the same bolts for cheaper, but I can't figure out what vanes they are.

What is the name of these fletchings?

I googled razor vanes and didn't really turn anything up. There was razyr vanes that appeared similar but weren't the same ones. These have a small ridge or lip part ways up the vane that appears to initiate spin.

  13. Has anybody ever heard of a rejected card tag going to somebody on a group application? Or a late hit like this onna group application? This is making me think applying with somebody else is not worth it anymore!

That Atacama has my attention for sure.

    .

$40 seems like a smoking deal. I've seen coues and mule deer capes raw go for $100+ pretty regularly. Antelope capes seem alot harder to come by here in AZ.

Sauer makes a rifle in 6.5 prc. I believe Browning is gonna chamber one is an x bolt also.

At the end of the day I don't think otc archery hunters do near the number on the deer that the thousands of rifle tags given out in multiple southern units like 33 do. Archers just aren't that efficient. Even if archers were efficient, making harvest reporting mandatory would solve alot of issues and when the archers were being too efficient in any one unit, the department could react accordingly. Mandatory harvest reporting will not become the standard anytime soon though. Game and fish does not want hard data on true success rates in my opinion. I think they have an idea how many deer are actually being killed, but I dont personally believe that they want us to know how many are being killed. Harvest reporting would force them to post the data to the public. Also, it would force them to stop minimizing the seasons in units like 29 and 6a where they are trying to punish particular outfitters. As much as I despise them not making harvest reporting mandatory, I understand how important revenue is. And because of that, I am all game for the otc tags being sold to the non residents. They aren't making it to where I hunt, I promise you that. Getting rid of the otc tags would just make them increase tags somewhere else, to make up for the loss in revenue. That could be way more detrimental than some out of staters hunting deer from the roads in the 36's with their bows. I've watched alot of the YouTube videos the last few years, and I have yet to feel like them boys are much of a threat to our deer herd. I suppose them broadcasting otc az tags to the world is the real concern.
