    any body been out fishin

My uncle took me to the Gila on the New Mexico side where the fishing is known to be good. We fished all day and only caught one 9-inch channel. The water was running so fast that there wasn't a hole that would hold our bait at the bottom. My whole family always go to the San Francisco above Clifton and we always leave with enough fish to last the rest of the year. The biggest fish we caught last year was a 35 pound flathead that fought for a while. Any of you guys fish this area? creed

    any unit

Well, i know some hot spots in unit 30A during the rut for both coues and mule deer. I would hunt the fist weekend to the second weekend of January, guaranteeing a great buck if i had a rifle. I've seen a lot of big bucks during this time of the year but i don't get as many oppurtunities to shoot at these big guys with my bow because they are so far away. Creed

    Crimson Talon broadheads?

Ryan, I too am 16 years old. I go to school in bisbee. the only broadheads i have used are the cheap allen spider mechanicals and the rocky mountain premier 100's. the allen spiders are bad. I shot a Javelina right behind the shoulder with one and it didn't penetrate through the ribs. The Javelina started to run and the arrow fell out. I then shot the same javelina with the rocky mountain broadhead and it passed through. I bought some muzzys last month and they look good. I can't wait for the late summer deer hunt. I've never used the srimson talons but i stare at them every time i look through an archery catalog. creed
  4. I just ordered the Stealth Cam Mc2-G yesterday for a total of $56 with shipping. I got it from ARCHERY EXPERTS. Was there something better that i could of bought, other than digitals? Am I going to be able to capture a good picture of that world record coues that walks in front of it about 60ft out? If i set it up on a well used trail, how far away from the trail should it be? thanx, Creed
  5. I need to know how you guys set up your trail cams. I don't have one yet but i will soon. Do you guys bait or is a waterhole good idea? Do you just get on a well-traveled trail and hope to get lucky? A trail cam should help me out a lot and do a lot of my scouting for me, although I won't just quit going out on my own. How often do you guys check them and is it a hassle? Thanks a lot, Creed
  6. I have never seen a buck on this river but i usually see a doe standing off the side of the road when i drive by. My uncle has a humungous 5 pt shed found on the river. I think it was found aroun St. David. I found a skull but it looked like the horns had fallen out or someone pulled them out. It was weird. I've never seen anything like it. Have you guys ever hunted it or seen any deer here? Creed

coues deer on the san pedro

Thanks guys. It is good to know that there is good people willing to give out their best info to help another guy out. I thank you. My uncle's name is Vince Waters. He lives in Elfrida and he said he tried a couple of times to stalk the big 5 pt but the deer stayed where there was not a whole lot of cover and he could not get very close. Creed

    Any luck rattling lately

    thanx guys. Creed
  10. Any of yo guys had any luck rattling during this year's rut? It doesn't seem to be working like it did last year. I don't know know why. I sure have seen a lot of scrapes and rubs though. My uncle and I set up a treestand over an area hammered with rubs and scrapes in unit 29. He's gonna sit it this weekend. Creed

    Nice 29 Buck

Great deer. I believe you when you say you went 6 for 6 in 29. Good job. I hunt there a lot. I live in the valley(Double Adobe). How big were the other bucks and what did this deer score? Where did you get 'em, if you don't mind giving up your secret spot? Creed

    Post Rut Location

all does that have not been bred go into a second cycle but it only lasts for a couple of hours. I think. All of the bucks I've been seeing have been around groups of does with a couple of yearling does these last few weekends. I saw a mid-90inch buck on saturday. I ended up betweeen him and a couple of does and he did not want to leave their site. I had a 60-yd shot but only for a couple of seconds. creed
  13. i was just wondering if any of you have been attacked by any deer you've shot and walked up on or if you've been attacked by any deer.
  14. I was just wondering if any one decided to hunt mule deer this year. If so have you guys had any luck or is your hunt still co ing up. Good luck
  15. I've noticed that a lot of bucks that come out of one area all have the same form of antlers or that the horns of some bucks look a lot like other deer in the area. Do genes play a big role in how many big bucks are in one area or how big the deer will get. one area i hunt the bucks tend to get longer g3's than g2's and in another area (in the same unit) the bucks seem to have better mass than in most places. i've also noticed that in some area i'll find sheds that will only get three points but in other areas the sheds get more but their a little smaller.
  16. I have never experienced it but thanks for answering, and oh yeah, bull elk count

    what's up with 30a

Do you guys have any info on what has happened to 30a?There is a large area that has been gated off. I believe the rancher's name who closed the gates is Snures or something. He only owns pieces of labd where the gates are and he has closed hundreds of forest land to public. this area is east of highway 80 just northeast of Douglas. It's in the skeleton canyon area. Can you guys help me out? i have hunted this area for a long time and i want to know how to get back in there.

    Batchelor herds

Well, Most of the bachelor herds i hav seen have contained only a couple of bucks. I usually see bucks in pairs with at least on average-to-good sized buck. just thought i would reply because the topic was pretty interesting. creed
  19. have you guys had better luck sitting in a tree or walking miles a day? I have never really tried sitting in a tree stand. I hav just always thought that coues were the kind of deer that you need to go to. They're sneaky animals and unpredictable.i have only known coues to follow trails on steep hillside or in thick areas. What do u think? thanks, creed
