    Young and Dumb

Is it really from 30a. thats the first unit that came to my head cuz my first was a 92" that looks very much the same as that buck, and it was shot in the same unit. My buck only had 1 1/2"inches of deduction, its crazy how much my buck looks like that one. creed
  3. is there anyway i can get some pics of my hunt from my phone onto the website. maybe i can text them to one of you or something. thanks guys. creed

    Fewer Deer in 30A

I tagged out in this unit also. saw a lot of deer but not in the same areas as usual. i think u are right about the limited access and lions. Im a local so i have many areas in the unit to fall back on when my favorite areas wont produce. My uncle killed a lion in an isolated mtn range in this unit that nobody can hunt during his oct. hunt. we usually see tons of bucks in these mountains but this year there were no bucks to be found. the lower elevated hills were where all the deer had migrated to. this is a very inconsistent unit but i love it. the lions really are a problem though. they have pushed all the mule deer from the foothills to the mesquite flats. it just seems that the deer move alot depending on the lion pressure. i did not come across another hunter so it was great. creed

    Any luck?

man i'm gettting desperate. im hunting 30a and i have seen a good number of deer for this unit but every deer ive seen has bedded down before 8:00. i catch most of em on the southern slopes but before i can get close enough to em they move over to the northern sides of the hills and thats when it becomes almost impossible. I've been holding out for a good one and i have seen a some big ones but getting a shot has not worked out for me. i spotted about a 105" buck the first day from about the first day so we took off after him. on the way there i spotted an 80" buck about 500 yards away. im trying to help my friend tag his first deer but i got greedy and we continued after the big buck. i regret it but i know he'll get his chance this weekend. anyways we lost sight of both bucks and never picked em back up again. karma, i guess. good luck to everybody else. creed

    Deer's eyesight

I've always wondered what a deers vision is like. I really don't think they can see too well at night. A lot of mule deer in the flats around me go into open fields at night and just bed down. I think they do this so they can see predators. I imagine its the same with all deer but i don't know. what do you guys know? creed

    Deer's eyesight

I once sat underneath an oak tree to have about 12 mule deer does come all around me. i was back against the tree and they definitely smelled me, but they all just stood about 6-10 yards away and stomped and blew at me till one finally got gotsy and stomped close to about 3 yards. i moved my leg and they all got out of there in a hurry.that sameday another group of deer were about 20 yards away in the same area and i watched two small white bulls, only a couple of months old chase the entire herd in circles and then a couple of younger mule deer does would chase them and so on. it was pretty cool. its those kinda days that i wish i would have left my bow and brought the video camera. creed

    Moon Phase for Jan 07

I have heard over and over again by older guys that cold weather triggers the rut. I believe it only triggers the bucks behavior but has nothing to do with the does estrus cycle. I do belive that the reason for does coming into cycle all about the same time is because predators can only take so many fawns at one time. So if there is an overload of fawns then predators can only eat so much, leaving some to survive. I would say i see more bucks in late dec. and early jan. then any other time. This is what i consider the pre-rut, where the bucks are checking scrapes and rubs and whatever else, but about the middle of jan. they seem to not move as much, meaning that most does have come into cycle and a couple of bucks tend their territory and the does in that territory. i have a lot to learn, but these are just my theories based on my experiences. creed

    Check this Monster out

if he found it in 27 why would he drive down into the desert flats to take a picture. the skull on that would be pretty wide for a coues. notice how he tried to cover it up with his hands.

    whats this years buck forecast

cochise county got some moisture last night. a slow but steady down poor all night. is that a good thing or a bad thing for all you oct. hunters? how did the rest of the state do with rain? creed
  25. Is all this rain down south gonna make for a good hunt? I think so. I think this is gonna be the year for some monster bucks. Is all this water gonna make the deer harder to find? easier to pattern? allow them to move less? what doyou guys think? creed
