    Water

I shot a coues buck a couple of years ago in a very dry and isolated set of mountains. This buck was miles from any water holes. He was very old, no teeth left whatsoever and his stomach was packed with cholla apples. Most were bit in half but alot of them were whole. I was surprised to see that but it made so much sense. There were hardly any does in these mountains, they were all in the foothills below. There werent alot of deer at all actually but there were a few, and more often than not old mature bucks. this deer had real heavy horns but crab clawed g-3s. This was the case for almost all the deer in that area, other than the huge non-typical that hung around. I think the isolation and lack of population density made for poor genetics. But i conclude this story by saying that i belive deer do not NEED to drink every day but i do belive they will travel long distances to drink once or twice a week.
  6. nice man. Looks like ur near the san pedro.
  7. nice pics. looks like it may be a javelina bt maybe a chupacabra.

    How's the water

Has anybody got out and fished the gila or frisco lately? How's the fishing been. I heard the smallmouth population was starting to boom in these rivers. I can't wait to get out there and hook on to one of those big flatheads. How about any lake or river in Arizona? Let's see some pictures if you guys got any. creed
  10. That buck looks a lil bit bigger than 75. Id say 82. Nice buck nonetheless. the snow buck is a nice one too.

Here is to the 06/07 deer season

You sure are getting things done. How is it that you killed your first coues this year? You seem pretty wise like youve been doing this stuff for years. Its nice to see someone so young being so succesful. I'm only 18 and its nice to see someone else fairly young getting 'r done.(No disrespect to all you veterans) creed

    RUTT???

You are right 30a is a little still but thats only because i am not finding as many deer as usual. Even in November and october i see more deer, but the deer that i am seeing are rutting. I can't figure things out but i think alot of it has to do with this weather. Where have you been hunting, if you don't mind me asking? creed

    SNOW!!

Unexpected snow day for alot of cochise county schools. The Dos Cabezas got hammered with snow. With most of yesterday being in the mid 30's all day and colder throughout the night, the snow should stay on the grounf for close to a week if not longer. creed
  15. I have only seen 2 scrapes and 3 rubs in an area that is usually packed with rubs and scrapes. Almost all small pine trees in the area are destroyed from last years rut and this years rut seems to have disappered. Is is yet to come? By this time last year I had shot at and missed 3 different whitetail. People in the area are starting to believe that its not gonna come. What do you guys think? How's the rut in your units? BY the way im talking about units 29 and 30A. Thanks creed

    Deer ruttin yet?

Mule deer are rutting hard down here in cochise county but whitetail, im not so sure. I have only found a couple small rubs and no scrapes and the bucks are somewhat still together. Looks like a 1950's junior high dance with all the bucks on one side of the room and all the does on the other. Oh yeah i saw one spike chasing a doe in 30a but there were 3 other bucks on the same hill and they were not interested at all. creed
  17. Cochise county got snow yesterday afternoon. The chiricahuas are looking nice and white this morning. Can't wait for Jan. How bout you guys. creed

    3 point.

Just curious but why did you leave that shed up there. I love antlers so much that take home racks that have been dissolved or eaten all the way to the bases. creed

NO rutting in 30a or 29. at least not what i have seen. bucks still running together and does alone, not even small bucks with the does. its cloudy out here today so maybe something good will happen soon. creed

    Another lady hunter scores

Nice buck. I'm hoping to help my mom score on a hog. It takes a lot of patience taking someone who isn't capable of roughing it like you are used to doing. congrats to both of you. creed
