How many animals have you harvested in Arizona

That's a lot of success from an out-of-stater bohntr. Congrats. With so much negativity lately about the game and fish and poor management its nice to see somebody having something nice to say for a change. Means a lot coming from a non resident with so much success in our great state. I too love az.

    Fixed blade broadhead vs. mechanical

Solid information. Thank you. Still won't convince the anti-mech guys though.
  3. I'm interested in buying a nice set of floor mats and seat covers for my f250. Anybody got any recommendations? I've heard good things about huskys and weather tech floor liners but I only want to spend that much money if its necessary. Im considering camo for the seat covers but haven't decided completely yet on but a good fit and long life is most important. Thanks guys, Creed

    $200-300 Bino's

The Zeiss terras were very disappointing. Even considering the price tag I expected more from Zeiss. I recommend zen ray's for that price. Minox is tough to beat for the price also but I was in the same market as you a few years back and I went with the zen rays. You have to buy them online but their warranty is great and the glass is the best in the price class hands down. Swift and vanguard were glass I considered also but ended up going with the zen rays.

    Alpen Optics Customer Service!

Ive had the exact same experiences with Alpen. I had an Allen spotting scope that I damaged so I ended up replacing it with a vortex. After awhile I damaged the vortex spotting scope also ( I'm rough on equipment). So there I was in the middle of a hunt with no spotting scope. I looked into the warranties of both scopes and sent them off the same day. I actually received my Alpen scope back two days sooner than my vortex. Both companies were super easy to deal with and have equal service in my opinion. Alpen deserves more credit than they recieve.

    Zen Ray ED3

Best glass for the money. Probably won't get many more responses just because they're so unpopular here in Coues country because they don't come any bigger than 10x but I feel like they're better glass than the vortex and that's an extremely unbiased opinion. Vortex has the best warranty out there but I'm pretty sure the ed3s now carry a no questions asked warranty also. Zen ray has only one thing scarring them and that's where they're made. But as far as glass goes, they're the best glass under $600 hands down.

Epperson's Africa Plains game Hunt Part 2

Wow what a dream hunt. Congrats on all the success. You got to experience something that most of us can only dream of! What kind of set up were you using to take down all those animals?

    2014 pigs?

Here's mine for the year. Most underrated meat there is. Even the big boars taste better than a mule deer buck any day!

    Broadheads accuracy

I've had the best luck with slick tricks. I know they're four blades and I expected them to be less accurate because of that but it wasn't the case. The razor tricks actually seemed to be the most accurate for me. If you're dead set on a 3 blade then the strikers are probably your ticket. Or WAC 'ems.

Deer hunting is done for 2014

Good job Brent. Nice big ol mature buck. Gonna be a long year!
  13. I had an absolutely amazing time with my younger brother George and my close friend Dana Mcclean from Michigan on their 2013 early December coues deer hunt. Words cannot describe how awesome this hunt was so I will keep the words short and let the pictures do the talking. Dana, George, my dog Tila, and me covered alot of miles and had a ton of close calls. In the end, both tags got filled on some outstanding bucks and we made some long-term memories. Hope you enjoy- Some of the bucks we layed eyes on- Dana was the first to lay the hammer down. This was his first coues buck. We had found it the day prior and it slipped away from us. We found him at first light the next day and he put a perfect shot on this deer at 308 yards with his remington .308. George really did not have high standards going into this hunt. He was looking for a good time and was willing to shoot anything decent. None of us had intended for George to shoot such a good buck, but we werent gonna pass up the oppurtunity once it presented itself. He definitely worked hard for it and deserves every bit of this buck. I can honestly say that of all the kids I know, George is the one that can shoot a buck like this and not let it ruin his future. He doesnt get caught up in the "inches" thing. He knows that he may very well never have a chance at a buck like this again in his lifetime and he is very well ok with that. Good job George. I am extremely proud of you and watching you smoke this buck is better than me taking it for sure. George shot his deer right before dark and we were a long ways in so we elected to pack the deer out the next day and bring some pack mules I thank George and Dana for letting me be a part of their amazing hunt. This hunt ranks near the top in my memory bank. Thanks for reading. -Creed

    105 December coues 3x3

Awesome buck congratulations. Age makes a better trophy than score no doubt about it. Good job on a buck that has them both. You gotta love the knobs that grow way up the main beam and way up the eye guards. I would say that your buck has survived a hunt or two good job.

    .22lr for fox

I've killed a pile of coyotes with a 22 and normal Remington hollow points and subsonics. Most have been shots to the lungs with about 50% of the shots requiring a follow up shot. I use a ruger 10/22 so the follow up shots are always very quick. I can't imagine how a 22 isn't ideal for a fox. Especially if you're accurate with it.

Need some opinions on these 3 packs

I've been around a lot of different packs. As far as day packs go, I think I've been most impressed with the antidote from blacks creek. The new tenzing pack looks impressive as well. Badlands make quality packs but I do believe that blacks Creek packs are more versatile. They're packs have lifetime warranties and they are awesome to deal with. And they handle a ton of weight! I would look into the blacks creek antidote or one of their similar packs or look into the new tenzing day pack.

Beautiful deer. Ugly hat, but beautiful deer. Congrats.

    awesome hunt in wilderness

Thanks for all the replies. Tila was pooped everyday haha. She would run about 3 times what the rest of us walked. If at any point any of us would start lagging behind she would run back and check on him. She got nailed by a skunk on our way out in the dark after george shot his Buck. We all gagged for about a 1/4 mile.

  23. This has probably been asked in the past, maybe not. A friend of mine has a January coues tag on the s.c. I'm not sure what unit its for. He broke his ankle two days ago and is worried about not being recovered fully by January. So, can a person sign his San Carlos tag to somebody else or is it the same as a normal az tag where once its yours, its yours for good unless you give it to your child or grandchild. Any help is appreciated.

    conversion bucks.

Well my two young brother in laws made the switch to coues this year and I think its fair to say that they may be hooked. Each boy came into this hunt with two mule deer bucks under their belts and they were chomping at the bit to hunt whitetail. They both fired a few warning shots at good bucks opening morning. Saturday they had sports to tend to and Sunday Anthony and myself were back at it. We made it deep into some country and at about 430 pm Anthony hammered his first coues Buck at 300 yards. What a hard working kid. He packed both front quarters, both back straps, and the head back to the quad. He earned this buck no doubt. Anthony's younger brother Isaiah and I made it out the next day and at sunup we had two bucks spotted and we were on the move. We covered the 3/4 mile distance between us and the bucks in no time and by 7:30 Isaiah had smoked his first coues Buck at 250 yds. I had an awesome time with these boys. I know I enjoyed it every bit as much as they did. Anthony's buck: Anthony's Buck alive: Isaiah's buck:
