I also disagree with staying away from from lee dies. I actually prefer them over my rcbs dies. I've got a rather limited amount of experience reloading though.

Thanks Phil. Working, so I don't always enjoy that but I do enjoy getting paid. We're unfortunately also eating my wife's mule deer tag today. But other than that it's been a good birthday thus far. Thanks for the birthday wish!

That's a stud of a buck. Congrats. -
Man johns ram is a toad. That video totally sparks an interest in those cool looking creatures. Looks like it would be a physical hunt. Can't wait for part 2.

Gotta love the character.

M77, legit question/statement. I didn't glass him up in his bed. I watched him bed. There was no question about what species of deer I was looking at. 100% grey ghost. He was 100% grey ghost the first time I saw him two years ago also. Az_shooter- the bullet traveled through his neck and unfortunately exited his head.

39 and 32 grain v max's typically. They're deadly. Never had a runner after shooting either bullet. Have had a few runners using lubalox coated silver tips follow up shots did the trick but I quit shooting them and only shoot v max's now.

The season was closed. I called while I was watching them just to double check even though I knew it was closed. The boar was probably the 5th biggest bear I've ever seen.

I hunted one day with my young cousin last weekend in a border unit. Saw three bears. They're still out. I see bears in December quite often.

My favorite right now is a ruger m77 mark 2 in .204 ruger. Zero recoil. Flat as can be. Dumps coyotes where they stand. My wife has dropped a couple of javelinas with it too. Very accurate little round. The wind bothers the bullets at further distances but not much more than most other varmint calibers. It's just really fun to shoot. You can't really go wrong with any varmint caliber though really. You're pretty much limited to coyotes and smaller though a.243 or 22-250 could be used as a double duty gun for big game if necessary. Can't go wrong with a good ol .223 either.

Awesome. Nothing beats a successful family hunt. Got it done before the wind showed up too!

I'm in the market for a new rifle for my wife. I'm really wanting a 260 for her but there just aren't very many factory options for her in that round. Everybody makes a gun in .243 and I may go that route but I really would like to see her with a little more gun than that for them big ol flop eared Mulies she likes to chase. I'm a little worried about the recoil on the 7mm-08. What do you guys think? Loading up some 120 grain bullets an option to help with recoil? I would be happy with a .257 roberts also but finding a factory rifle in my budget in a 260 or 257 is pretty tough. I'd like to spend under a grand for the whole deal ( scope, reloading dies and brass and projectiles, and possibly a drop in pinkish laminate stock). She's currently hunting with my .257 ackley and it's about the max for her in the recoil department. A custom build would be the best option but it just isn't an option at this time. What would you Guys do? I'm really liking the marlin x7 based on reviews alone. Howa seems to be my next choice. Savage being my next choice after that although it would be more expensive than the first two choices because I really don't want an axis or edge. A used gun is an option also if it's in good shape. Anybody got any advice?

260 rem vs 7mm-08 vs 243 vs ?

4350 was the next powder of choice if the reloader 17 didn't produce. I don't own a chronograph, although I have access to one, but I'm assuming the velocities between the 4350 and the 17 being very similar. Reloader 17 is supposed to produce more velocity than any of the 4350s but I don't believe it's always the case. -
I just ordered one from boyds with a 12 3/4 length of pull for the same rifle. $120 if you keep it basic.

I was lucky enough to get my desired pull weight by just adjusting screw number 1. When you take off the stock the internal magazine will almost be in your way. The Allen wrench needed is tiny and just a few turns lightened it up a bunch. Slam the bolt shut after you adjust it and bounce the butt of the stock off the ground a few times to make sure it's not gonna slam fire. -

So after mucho consideration and a lot of research I pulled the trigger on a new rifle. I was pretty much torn between a .260, .243, and 25-06. I was pretty positive that I would be buying a savage but after I spent some time looking at what all tucson had to offer I came home with a remington 700 adl stainless in .243. $499 at sportsmans. This rifle is going to be a surprise. She really likes the looks of stainless guns I think she'll love it with the new boyds laminate in black jack color. As soon as I got home I loaded up some 100 grain sierra pro hunters under reloader 17 and laddered up to max. I also cut the pull weight on the trigger in half. It's very crisp now. The ease of adjustment on the trigger is one othe reasons I decided to go with this gun. It showed zero signs of pressure and shot the max load the best. I'm actually pretty impressed with the out of the box results. Thanks for all the input and recommendations. I may regret not going with one of the other calibers once she puts a bullet into an animal but for now I'm happy and I think she will be too once i give it to her. -

She's not afraid of the recoil she just doesn't enjoy it. She loves shooting my .204. She would hunt deer with it if I would let her. My .257 is pretty heavy and really doesn't kick much although it does kick just like most any gun does. But it's obvious that she doesn't enjoy shooting it. She shoots it great but after only a couple shots she kinda of just loses interest. Tines-I do reload. I am looking for a factory made rifle (mass produced). I've pretty much decided that I'm not gonna be getting anything bigger than a .260. I want her to enjoy shooting it and become extremely accurate. Ironically my cousin just got a ruger 77 in .260 for his wife and said it kicks as hard as his .308. It's a light gun so that has a lot to do with it. I'm gonna keep looking but if I have to get her a .243 for her to enjoy shooting and be accurate then I will. I really prefer to not put a brake on her gun if I can help it. Does anybody have any bad experiences with a .243? If so id like to hear about em. Have any Of you guys seen a shot with a .243 where an animal was lost or close to being lost where a larger caliber would have made a difference? -
Buy a pair of zen rays from amazon and look through them before you settle for any pair of vortex under $500. You can return them if you're not satisfied. I've researched a ton before I settled on zen rays. They carry the same warranty as vortex also. I've had warranty work done on both brands and zen ray sent me a brand new pair of glass while vortex repaired my issue. Both free of charge. I own glass from both companies and must say, that unless you're buying a riflescope, zen ray is leaps and bounds above vortex in glass quality.

That's impressive where did you purchase it from? My wife is 5'2". Do they make a youth model? A shorter length of pull aftermarket stock is an option I imagine. -

Also how would these rounds perform in a 20-22" barrel. Surely that what she'll be shooting.
