Packing in with mules is so much work without a designated at camp animal tender. Even if you didn't have to go back to water them you probably still feel obligated to go back and make sure they didn't leave you and head for the truck. I agree with coues meat being the best.

That buck is sweet

Sounds like a blast. Hunts like that are a ton of work no matter how easy you make them look. Thanks for sharing.

Seeing Muleys Instead of Coues
creed_az_88 replied to WarrZone's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I think it depends on the unit. For example, unit 27, higher doesn't mean more coues deer. In the southern units, if you're seeing mule deer then you're looking too low. -
Happy birthday Phil, hope it's another great day for you. You've had a season to remember so far that's for sure.

Seems like a smoking deal. I love my grizzly and I paid alot more than that back in 2009. -
That's awesome. Crazy how much technology has changed. Those rifles are so much nicer than the rifles I got to use at that age. Good job all the way around.

I loved reading every bit of that. Good job to the whole crew, and wow what a first buck. I hope she's hooked for life.

I normally like to write out a story about epic hunts like this but I'm just not gonna have the time. We videod alot of it so I'm hoping that once the video is edited and put together it will tell the story a little better than I would have been able to. I was shocked to find out that my friend cody and I had drawn this tag. We put alot into making sure we were prepared for this hunt and after a few scouting trips we decided that we would set up camp at a spot that was twenty miles from the trailhead. This hunt would not have been possible without Cody's dad John malbeouf and his mules. This hunt turned out to be more work than I had anticipated but it was worth every bit of sweat. Cody and I both shot our bulls on September 2nd which made for a very long night and next day. I'm sure cody will share his account of the whole thing. I tried to talk myself out of shooting my bull so early in the hunt but I just couldn't walk away from him. I ended up shooting him at 65 yards and then shooting him again at 30 just to end any suffering. Enjoy the pics and stay tuned for the video. Creed Can somebody please rotate the pics for me. Thanks.

That's an awesome bull. Were you out of your comfort zone being so far from the road? Jk. Congrats to your friend.
