I've owned both brands. I wear the same size in both although both of mine have been different models than the ones you speak of.

I finally drew my archery antelope tag. Just got back from my first scouting trip to 10. I have the archery hunt next month. I did not see near the number of antelope that I thought I would. Saw way more elk than I thought I would including one jaw dropper bull. I did find one really good antelope buck and a few borderline shooter bucks. I was definitely not expecting it to be 100° each day I was there. I'm sure I missed some animals because of that heat. My question to all the antelope gurus out there is, how far would you expect a buck to travel between now and late August? I am extremely interested in relocating this buck during the hunt and prior if possible. He was that good. The monsoons have yet to hit up there it seems. There weren't tons of does in close proximity to him but there were some. Will these does move much once the rains come? Every tank in the area was full so the only thing that will change will be green growth. I intend to focus on relocating this buck and if that is not possible move on to some undetermined plan b spots. Any info from previous tag holders would not be turned down 😉. I intend to pay to hunt the bo if necessary. Can I wait until halfway through the hunt to buy a permit to hunt the bo or do I need to get one soon? Any of you seasoned archery antelope hunters have any other advice for me? I plan on grinding it out and spot n stalking them just like I do deer and probably get my butt kicked for most of the hunt with the hopes for one or two opportunities at some great bucks. You probably already know my vote. Meopta fanboy right here. Get ready to glass up more animals by going to the 12's! Unfortunately you'll maybe miss out on slightly more bedded animals if you leave the 15's but I think it will be negligible. Carrying only one pair of binos is awesome though. Screw having a pair of 15's in my pack on top of all the other heavy crap in there.

I know that is a generic answer but the entire unit is coues deer country. Finding the area you want to hunt is up to you looking at the country and making a decision. Just go park your truck, take a good hike to some good glassing spots and glass. You'll see deer in basically the entire unit doing this.

Overview: Since whitetail populations are well distributed throughout the forest, hunters will be equally successful in just about any location in the unit above 4000′ elevation. General distribution is moderate at elevation 5000′ and up. Since the majority of whitetail habitat is located on lands administered by the US Forest Service, access is very good, especially for hunters willing to strap on a backpack and hunt into the wilderness areas. For detailed access information, a Coronado National Forest map is invaluable on a hunt. The USFS map of the Chiricahua Mountains, Coronado National Forest is available from US Forest Service Offices. Glassing from high points or stalking brings results for hunters. Most sportsmen use a combination of the two methods. The use of binoculars and/or spotting scopes is highly recommended. Area: Work the upper reaches of these drainages of the unit. Starting on the west side of the unit, the following road accesses are recommended: Pinery, Pine, Upper West Turkey, Cottonwood, Stanford, Pridham, John Long, Rucker, and Tex Canyons. There are sign in boxes into Jhus Canyon and John Long Canyon. Hunters MUST sign in to gain access into the area. Hunters that do not sign in will be cited for trespassing and future access into these areas may be lost. On the south: Price, Shake, Jack Wood, and Horseshoe Canyons. East side: Sulphur, Dripping Springs, Fossil, Cave, East Turkey, Silver, East Whitetail, Jhus, Brushy Canyons. Jhus Canyon can now be driven into and PLEASE obey all posted signs. The landowner agreed to allow vehicular access to the forest as long as hunters obey all signs. On the north: Woods and Emigrant Canyons. I cannot over emphasize the value of the Coronado National Forest map for finding access. Scouting before the season will help greatly. Access to the west side areas can be gained by using the Willcox exits on I-10 for Highway 186 and then 181. North side locations can be reached by exits at Bowie, San Simon, and Road Forks exits from I-10. Southern portions can be reached on Highway 80, east of Douglas.

I will almost be willing to help pay for the zeiss' glass just to help him get out of those horrid kaibabs! And thanks for kind words, but generally I'm just really lucky.

As many people as I know that have yet to get a hit when they put in for easy to draw and traditionally 100% draw hunts I feel like something strange has happened this year.

Sun can't interfere with pics if the camera is facing north. East or West you'll get some sun in your shots at sunup or sundown.

If they are guaranteed 35a tags and they have it as their second choice, then they won't even be considered for 12a east. I may have misunderstood your post though.

Gotta change your oil bud more often bud. 😆. Jk. I know of so many of these motors with 350,000+. While researching and looking for a hunting truck, I was blown away by how many claims there were on forums about how many miles some of these guys were getting out of these motors.

I wear the valderas. They seemed like the best compromise between support and flexibility. Best boot I've worn. Two long hard seasons and theyll last one more.

Those 2v 5.4l motors last forever! This truck should have a ton of life left in it.

What are your intended purposes with the scope? I bought a kowa tsn 554 with the flourite lens and feel like it was a very good decision. I've had it next to multiple top end hd 65mm spotters and did not feel outgunned in the slightest. It blew my mind that something so small and so light could be so clear and so bright. Field of view is not the best and neither is eye relief but I don't glass with it and only use it after I have glassed something up or at the range. Doug and camera land gave me a surprisingly good deal also, which helped make my decision easier. I recommend at least doing some research on it unless you're dead set on something bigger and more expensive. There is literally zero difference in clarity between the kowa and the swaro hd from what I could tell. Bold statement I know.

Took my 3 and 5 year old out a few days ago. They loved it. Didn't find any horns. But they climbed a "mountain" and got some great pictures. I guarantee they'll remember it forever.

The amount of smugglers that pass through was a huge challenge for us in 27. Due to the lack of public access points, we decided to back pack in, and every single ridgetop in the areas we wanted to hunt had footpaths a foot wide going down them. We were forced to camp In a spot that was not very flat, nor very comfortable. I believe that 27 is a backpack hunters unit, with the potential to hunt deer that have not been seen by other hunters, but we did spend one afternoon hunting close to the truck, and found a handful of bucks. Aside from smuggler activity(more here than anywhere I have seen and I live in a border unit in AZ) and the lack of access, this unit is a great unit that seems to be equivalent to alot of the border units in AZ with way less hunters but potentially lower deer numbers. Good luck drawing a tag as a non resident. No experience in 26.

Just got off the phone with the rep and he stated that this scope has a zero stop. Am I missing something? From everything I see online is that it does not have a zero stop. Does anybody use one of these scopes and if so, do they in fact have a zero stop? Can the turrets be shimmed for a diy zero stop? Any info on these scopes would be appreciated. Looking for a cheap, dialable 1" scope for a muzzleloader.

AZ hunts have way bigger draw odds.

I know the answer has to be yes, I just can't ever recall hearing or seeing pictures of bulls taken there. Is there a resident population here that contains mature bulls year after year? I ask because I'm pretty sure that I'll be hunting here with my mom come sept. I intend to scour the area looking for bulls before the hunt if this is the tag that was drawn but a little hope that a mature bull is a possibility here would be awesome. Are the genetics as good as they should be considering the neighboring units?
