Eliminate Auction tags entirely?
biglakejake replied to dobbs07's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
just a link to a hamberlin infected site...re:tax writeoffs....you have heard of it now take a look at the ugly state of hunting in the west. http://mossback.com/2012/03/08/conservation-tags-for-auction-this-weekend-march-9-10-your-next-tax-write-off/ i also hear that jay lopeman of mossbackAZ is lurking around CWT forums and posting under a pseudonym. has bigjohnsonboy ever gotten around to introducing hisself? lee Insanity runs in the family-it practically gallups! -
This is without question my all-time favorite thread on CouesWhitetail.com forums after 9 full years! Just thought it needed a little bump. Life isn't fair! lee

Big Lake could be open by then-keep your eyes on www.biglakeaz.com for info. ice out at Big Lake can be great. River Res. is still full of big ole browns and will be ice free. Becker is now a trophy catch and release water with lots of 16 inch plus fish being caught. catfish, bass and walleye will get going at fool hollow and show low lakes. AZGFD is working their little butts off right now trying to eliminate the northern pike in the show low area with gillnets strung all over the lakes. 28lber last week. i am not affiliated at all with the Big Lake concession. just part of my handle. lee

AZSFW Latest Tactic and ADA and AAF Positions
biglakejake replied to 40-year-AZ-hunter's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
trying to get my little brain around what is just happening here...............something seems a little off kilter.......a man who has outfitted at least 2 auction tag holders-and who would probably not mind taking on another 2 or 10 or 350 auction tag hunters-is helping to moderate a discussion about expanding the auction tag program. a man who does not seem to have an opinion on 2072 but who would be a serious benefactor to this legislation is a moderator of the discussion? i had started to like jim 'cuz he seemed like he was a hard hunter and a real arizona booster. but now this dog-n-pony show just won't hunt. not for me. did i miss something? has the kool-aid already been served? 2010 was a tough year for me. lost my two oldest hunting buds after 40 years in the field. one passed on and will be missed. the other turned over on his friends to get into bed with the hamberlins and is better entirely forgotten. i hope 2012 turns out better than it has started-CWT needs its sponsors AND its members to survive-with the right tools it takes only a minute to scrape off that sticker. lee -

thanks ron-i hope your get overnights for the next 10 years on your new job. but of course i could use a little more abuse. auction tags were a mistake from day one. my mom and dad both died before they got a bull tag in the draw. those hamberlins, mossbackers and littlehornettes- NIMRODs all. now just git-r-done. but git-r-done in another state. this one's mine. always has been............ lee insanity runs in the family-it practically gallups!

They are still at it
biglakejake replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Snapshot: i hope you fare better with the board than i did last august when expressing my disdain over auction tags and the hamberlins of this world. good luck! in 1995 it was an east valley rep that wanted to push through landowner tags to save us all from elk accidents on the hiway. in 2004 it was a lawsuit by uso that was out-n-out blackmail and we dodged a bullet. in 2012 it looks like they are banking on sportsman apathy, misinformation and high$$$ political influence-if they win this imagine what round two will be like. just ask someone from utah. lee insanity runs in the family-it practically gallups! -
this youtube video is probably inappropriate for a family website: juvenile obscenities, childish behavior by adults and a gaffhook to the eyeball. overall an excellent and fun tuna vid. maybe too much beer though...

many moon ago i learned about taking a length of chain with a padlock or two on it and wrapping it around a gate. stops most all city folk but all you gotta do is unwrap it.(two different size chains here is the giveaway!) also inquiring minds want to know who pissed on the state trust land sign!? lee Insanity runs it the family-it practically gallups...

the best source of info for the white mountain lakes and travel conditions would be the site that rick and clotilda law started with their kids. www.biglakeaz.com great pics too. anybody else wish they were 15 or 16 and could drop out long enough to take the dock job for the summer? lee

as far as getting a start on tuna and albacore.... buy a ticket on a 1.5, 2, or 3 day trip from aug 15 to sept 25 if you are looking for success on your first try. don't book a trip that fishes on or after(10days) the full moon. lee

The last Stand Of The Tin Can Sailors
biglakejake replied to KGAINES's topic in Hunting and Outdoors-related books
just finished 'last stand of the tin can sailors' and it was excellent. on par with Medal of Honor winner Richard O'Kanes' 'clear the bridge' and michael gannon's 'operation drumbeat'. lee ps next trip to Ft. Rosecrans the names on the Taffy 3 memorial will mean a great deal more. -
some birthday. a hundred years ago all we had to worry about was pancho villa and a few grizzly bears. nowadays we're up against el chapo guzman and the sfw tag monster. me thinks i would rather have to face up to pancho and ol' suzy.....at least those would be some straight-up fights.... lee insanity runs in the family... it practically gallups...

little show low shop has a bullsh@t board with all the trophy pics and just three notices...two for archery shoots in prescott and tucson(over 200mi from show low) and a bunch of forms to take with you promoting membership or a one time donation to azsfw. no info on any other conservation groups visible. this bunch is not out of touch they are simply pimping for the $$$$$$$ IMO. the full time archery guy is a cwt poster and gets in a lot of indirect advertising for his bows(and his 'custom bowstring') on Amandas' site with his videos. i walked out. i could smell hamberlin all over the place. with a hint in the air of mossback and littlehorn(a hamberlin/moss outfit). lee ps very tempted to relate the encounter i had with two pilots(really pissed-off pilots!) who flew for the Arizona gov elk tag this summer. does AZGFD really suspend flying rules for gov tag holders? -
Mule Deer or Coues Deer? Good mule deer numbers west of Dragoon along railroad tracks(and the old butterfield stage route-very cool when you find it!) toward the san pedro. also some burro's north of double adobe along high lonesome road. used to be some good herds in the gunnison hills northeast of dragoon. whitetail are up in the dragoons and the mule mtns-best access is middlemarch canyon west of sunsites and long hikes up the mule mountains west of high lonesome road. lee
