What's the craziest thing you have done while out hunting?
biglakejake replied to AZ_SAWBUCK's topic in The Campfire
horn huntin' end of february 1997. my '73 waggoneer did not run too well when the temp was much below zero. wind came up after dark in the transition part of 4b about 9pm. up to about 70mph. blew the fire logs across the two track and under the jeep and into the bedroll i had laid out. stomped out the fires and crossed all my fingers 'n toes that the jeep would start-it did. after about a half mile-right on top of a bare ridge in the old wildcat burn-that ol' jeeps carb froze solid in that little winter breeze. by then it was blowin' near 90 with a little wind chill. IMR 3031 is a good powder for 257 R and worked well for an amc 360cid carburetor that night. thawed it out with a little blaze on the manifold and ended up sleeping on top of a concrete camp table at the old tonto creek campground. oh almost hit a mule deer doe on the 504 headed out for the low country. turned out to be my best shed season ever......'course i never did find a horn until may 1st!!! lee -
actually the best hunting joke ever is the 7mm/08. gotta give the idjuts credit for the laughs... lee

january 2013 fellow down the street asks me to help him get an elk tag. april 2013 fellow down the street gets a dec cow permit 1/2b/2c. june 2013 fellow down the street spends a grand on a new rifle and 3 grand on a new scope. november 2013 fellow down the street tells me he only has one leg but has a champ certificate of some kind. december 1 fellow down the street says to me- "if it's so cold i have to wear long underwear i'm not gonna hunt"(stop laughing and wait for the punchline OK) WAIT! then fellow down the street says to me- "when its cold my blood doesn't go where it's supposed to go. i lost my leg when i was hunting whitetails in the michigan snow wearing nice warm moccasins" now thats funny! lee ps fellow down the street did not leave his cabin during the hunt and refused to donate the tag. not so funny.

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/preps/articles/20130618arizona-best-high-school-football-programs-most-state-titles.html i was telling a fellow senior softball player with some serious credentials(400 bull, 105 coues) the other day about ricedorff shutting down fall softball so the cougar combine could use the fields. his response was ' the Moro program comes to show low'. Blue Ridge or Show Low-for another 13 titles or so the flatlander's don't get-i suppose we'll give up fall softball lol ! lee Insanity runs in the family-it practically gallups!

does anyone think there is just no such thing as a coincidence? like i don't believe in them? well i got a message on my machine a few hours after the site went down. the message went like this: "we want to find out what you think of the fishing in arizona with some questions. you will be entered to win a FREE lifetime license if you help us out. please call the number" have not heard of azgfd giving out free licenses. but i am sure it is just a coincidence! ;>) lee

uh-oh, the peoples republic is at it again............ (edit-my 500th post and its about sriracha-just a coincidence. right. but i don't believe in coincidence. buyin' a case tomorrow!) Time to panic: the #srirachapocalypse is nigh Published December 12, 2013FoxNews.com In case you haven’t heard the world in coming to an end, well, at least for some. Tuesday, the Huy Fong Foods company was ordered by the California Department of Public Health to hold all bottles of its beloved hot sauce Sriracha for at least 30 days before shipping, to comply with food safety regulations. That means it looks like there will be no more Sriracha until mid-January. From doughnuts to vodka to candy canes, Sriracha is being added to just about anything. The looming possibility of a shortage has struck a chord of fear in the lovers of the hip hot sauce, as evidenced by the Twitter #hashtag: #srirachapocalypse. The srirachapocalypse has already spawned a host entrepreneurs looking to make a buck off of those fears. Last month, an eBay seller with the username, "larryhagman" posted for sale what he called "the last packet of Sriracha ever made." His asking price: $10,000. As larryhagman explains on his eBay page: "I know you're saying, '$10,000 for a pack of Sriracha? That's crazy!' Well guess what, when the zombie apocalypse arrives and you're out of Sriracha, which are you gonna miss more—Sriracha for that rodent you just cooked, or the $10,000?" Who knows, he might just get what he's asking for. The sale ends Dec. 29. Meanwhile, some who make delectable delights with the hot sauce say they're prepared for the end. Slater’s 50/50, the southern-California burger chain, makes a popular Sriracha Burger: a beef burger blended with Huy Fong Sriracha, topped with Sriracha mushroom sauté, pepperjack cheese, Sriracha glazed bacon and Sriracha mayo. It all sits on a bed of Sriracha coleslaw and brioche bun.
