Report post Posted April 8, 2005 I spent nearly all day on Stehr Lake a couple days ago and my neighbor and I couldn't figure out what the crap the bass were biting on. I did catch 3 on 4" watermelon lizzards but for 5 hours of fishing I considered it slow. My friend didn't catch diddly. Didn't try spinners to much as they tend to get caught up in the cattails. Worms eh? Seems a little like trout fishing to me. Josh GRONG-josh epperson

wonder whatever happened to the az grizz hide they had at Buckhorn mineral baths in mesa for 75 years or more. lee a funny aside in the early '90's i was pulled off beside the hiway past Arivaca in my 73 ford glassing for coues when this other old ford pulled up. strange rig-they were ;pulling a boat and trailer with no engine or seats but it was stuffed full of hatch chilis. they introduced themselves but all they wanted to talk about were the pronghorn hanging on down there.. later realized it was rick bass the the real grizzly man doug peacock. ran itno babe winkleman down there once also.

i'm just a homer at heart but really give Cattlemans steakhouse a try. any questions at all just ask for Tiff or Tim they are always there just like mom Geri was for 20+ years. good wine, great food, best service and if you ask you might get to sit in the chairs signed by the Duke, Ben Johnson or Ken Curtis. I hear those boys were always thirsty when they visited Apache and Navajo Counties. for show low pizza i'm thinking the elk's lodge on whipple. that where pat shaffery of pat's place works now. lee

i know of a seeker jigstik gathering dust in a garage down the street-the fellow i gave it to 5 years ago only fishes for triggerfish now. that stik was attached like a transformer comic to my right arm for 10 years. 100yds with a salas 6xjr was never a problem. lots of yft would have grown bigger except for it. lee

just a huge GOOD LUCK to you guys and 3 little notes from experience when things get tough. the hardest bait to catch in the handwell is the best bait to fish, flylined baits always catch more fish than lures and lighter line gets bit more often. luck, lee

PRDATR & son & metau make some memories and come home safe w the boxes full. did i mention wrapping the ice chests in carpet or carpet pad -inside vehicle-will result in little or no ice melt. luck, lee. ps if you get too sore to fight fish just cut the hooks off of a popper or surface iron and have fun

just do what i used to-hook 'em up, enjoy the first 30 seconds of 60mph smokin' drag and then hand it off-'here-fish with this rig for a while'. pick the greenest greenhorn or youngest kid on deck. the best fishermen can always get hooked up but how much fishing do you get to do when you are lassoed to a 150lb gorilla on steroids? anyway just my dos centavos. wish the heck i was goin'. lee if you go as far south as st martin or colnett you might want to have some wire in the box
