Mauser 83 Sniper Rifle
biglakejake replied to Rifle man's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
i was going to be a smartass here but apparently these were fine mauser target rifles. original poster-for the most part we know '95, '96 and the '98 with all its updates and commercial versions. of course Levers and Ben Brown will prob have some leads if not expertise. lee -

4A. we always had non-campers stay in winslow-lots of hotels and 24 hour food choices. there is 1 high end hotel there-la posada-and lots of mid levels and cheapies. winslow is about 30 paved miles from the forest boundary at chevelon butte. we always start scouting at chevelon butte then work south and west towards wiggins crossing. its mostly transition forest and canyon country-lots of bulls to look at and listen to. if you want to hunt up higher along the 300 rd that will work-200 hunters will not put any real pressure anywhere in 4A. 330 bulls are hard to come by but that and bigger are in there. good luck, lee ps does anybody know whats the deal with that eco-resort at dutch joe ranch?

the first time always seems like you are trying to stop a volkswagen with a fishin' rod. many years ago a couple from red river ND and living in mesa AZ got a care package of bluefin from me-they said it looked like garbage in the bag. three days later they were knocking on my door asking to buy some so they could send it back to ND. lee ps the san diego airport is only a half mile from the landings-i walked it once after a rough landing lol.

2004 red gmc sierra pickup with body damage plate 127XTY have not been spotted in over 30 hours and phoenix radio reports they were last seen near st johns. the security transport route is nuts. why didn't they jump on i25 in denver and go down to i-10? NY to Tucson by way of Moab? BS!. i hope they headed east and are long gone. lee

all tips and cleaning fees(galley tab is the boats) are usually combined and divied up with the cook and hands but not the skipper or 2nd ticket. i used to bring shirts and hats for the skippers when i worked at the gm desert proving ground-we had some great custom artwork. jackpots i won half or all went to the deckhands. i would always get my value back the next few times on that boat. shirts, hats and dvd's are always welcomed by crew. lee

the manhunt movies are always played out as being in texas but i think Arizona has the real tough ones. danny lee eckard, tyson /greenawalt, danny ray hornung, the mcclusky bunch, don bellanger, the show low cop killers and now the barksdale duo-the blood trail is very dang real.. law enforcement needs to be careful out there-these two are not going to play nice. pack 'em if you got 'em. lee

This is the single best topic i have seen in 15 years on the forum. Millions of hunters the world over can only dream of such an awesome hunt for the magical Coues deer in the sky islands of Arizona or on the rim. None of us get up at 3am for blake owens or the daily politics-we get up to fulfill our passions for the remaining wild outdoors. Burning legs getting up to that high saddle or rocky point at daylight. Getting to see and experience sights and emotions perhaps no one else ever will, or has, and we should spend some time writing it down and passing it on. The new seasons are upon us-even the next month will bring special memories and even some trophy's. And that little velvet s;pike-someone's first ever archery buck-would be far more interesting to read about than a thousand posts of political crap. This forum has changed-a lot of good hunters have left and its our loss-I don't think I would have joined the way it is now. Why did we run off all those good people? lee

i was horn hunting up on wolf mountain circa 2004 and found myself about 4 feet from a gray fox napping in the crotch of an alligator. when he woke up he thought i was his daddy and he followed me about 50yds at 10ft away. had my kit gun in hand in case he was rabid. lee

any type of towels or sleeping bags work good but a triple wrap of carpet pad is the bomb! even in the open back of a pickup. lee
