biglakejake replied to Art20's topic in Elk Hunting
opening morning maybe get up on a high spot along old verde road-you might see bulls, bucks and UFOs in that part of 3c. don't worry about the horses you see-they are all adopted and awaiting transport out of the area. good luck, lee -
the sanitary submarines are taking you away. wade out far.
-
if the media told these people to go to the coasts and wait for evacuation they would do it. lee

pay no attention-before your time here. bad del. bad, bad del, bad

3a/3c. 3b muzzleloader offers lots of 10y.o. bucks but access issues interfere. 23. 2a/b. lee

all 1891 rifles were 7.65 argentine. the next design the 1893 and all later models were stamped because there were several different calibers involved. 7x57, 8x57, catridge 88, 7.65x53, 6.5x55, others. lee

that photo may be the essence of this website in its furtive, last second look over the shoulder. and Amanda even invokes Jack O'Connor in the caption. the upper painting is as inspiring as the photo-just a wonderfully euphoric vision.....Thank you. lee

Mauser model 91 7MM all original parts with matching numbers. Used-Good condition. $100. the mauser should be chambered for a .313 bullet 7.65X53 Argentine. hunting ammo is available on gunbroker and there is a new no-drill picatinny scout scope mount available for more than the value of the gun. lee

i had grown up shooting dad's 30/06 m70 standard grade mfg 1953. the first rifle i bought was a m70 carbine push feed .257 roberts in 1993-what a sweetie! stolen and still miss it. also in '93 i pickup a pair of pristine lever guns from the retired seattle chief of police. a 1941 m99td .300 savage and a 1955 m88 in .358. lee

i don't have much for you after hunting it in 2016.. couple ideas. contact a member guide-they might have an apprentice guide to help you. lower cost/score ratio than spending all the money. my info might be dated a little on this subject. if i was getting a second chance i would look alot at the area north of escudilla. residents back there tell some good tales but just maybe.......just past nelson reservoir turn left on acr 2116 and you can work out stone creek road all the way to the state line. lee

Favorite Elk Bullet? Average shot distance in AZ?

nosler partition to achieve through and through penetration, a consistent wound channel and massive blood loss. all these noobies are advertised as 'works like a partition'. yea. handloading the partition should produce accuracy in the range of sub-MOA. lee -
Arizona boy from Sacaton named Hayes is in this Pulitzer prize winning photo and made it home. and just like today he had a rough time fittin' in afterward. lee ps.....'ballad of Ira Hayes' by johnny cash.

get a load of that avatar! and welcome Sir! cow tags are not a very scientific draw process. in the eastern az units figure two permanent BP's will get you a cow tag every other year or so. beware of limited opportunity hunts. re: your avatar whats the deal w the wristbands? lee

once and done for me-put in 22 years straight. always wanted to use a .257 Roberts or .257 AI in a custom mauser or old winchester m70. did not have one and ended up using the m70 30/06 i killed my first deer with almost 50 years ago. dad traded for it at Babbitt Bros. Trading Post in flag in 1953. 150yd shot, sighted dead-on 450yds. lee
