Hey Epps....taco bueno?

Just curious if you are still around. Reading your posts and comments are real comic relief for me. The ridiculous statements that you make, reassures me that NOONE is THAT misinformed or ignorant. Great job pis*ing everyone off. Please keep this forum in satirical check.......-Shiras

Maybe she could be the new ride attendant at neverland.......

Here in Tulsa there is a guy names Jeff Neal which operates a hunting agency/brokering service. He invited me over to his house to discuss my '99NM bear hunt. As I walked in, he was booking Tom Sellick (spelling?) for a Russian brown bear hunt. He had an 8000+ sq. ft house( has moved since) and a 3200 sq ft game room. There were 300 and something heads, full mounts etc...As you walked in thru elephant tusks there was a feast for the eyes. The North American grand slam of sheep above your head as you walk in. Giraffe? indeed. A shoulder mount at that.lol. 2 life size african lions, 1 life size brown bear, 1 life size lesser kudu, 1 puma lifesize, 2 black bear lifesize, and the biggest mind blower of 'em all was a full sized rhino, (and it probably didn't weigh 75 lbs...I'm not positive, but I think it was the real skin and horns). Then the plethora of heads. And the exclusive "Asian sheep room" in which 4 trophy sheep donned his formal dining room. Unfreakingbelievable. He the guys who books all of "kawasaki's under wild skies"...i think it's called". Just thought I'd share my jaw dropping experience, since I know my living room only dons 3 easterns in my humble 1325 sq ft abode. -Shiras

Where to hunt in unit 23 for carp
Shiras replied to Redman's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Redman, I am FAR from being an expert in hunting mule deer in 23, but have been on 2 hunts in 23. The first trip in '99 was for bear. Guess what I saw? Mule deer and elk. I saw 3 mule deer bucks standing in a thicket of pines (near Luna), asked my guide to stop, and he said it was the nicest bucks he had seen that year. Last year we camped at Salise pass (the burned area), right off the highway and hiked up to the power lines everyday. You'll see a fence line to the south of the gravel pull-off area. As you hike up I'm guess 1/2 to 3/4 mile you will be directly under the power lines. Someone put a couple salt licks (going south 50-75 yards from fence) by a drainage pipe and it was completely littered with deer tracks. The problem we had was seeing does and fawns. Only 2 bucks. One, I couldn't tell because he bounded off, but honestly he looked like a brute. If I wouldn't have choked, I would have shot. He was probably no further than 40 yards. Geeez. The other was one we spotted off of Highway 180 @ 836 yards. He was definately one I would have taken a shot, but then what do I know about mule deer, I'm from Oklahoma. In all honesty, I was looking for Whitetail and my friend was hunting carp. I saw 2 coues doe about 1/2 mile west of the powerlines, and about 25 MD crossing by our camp almost everyday at salise pass. Keep in mind though these were does and fawns. -Shiras -
Well, no Burro mnts for me. I wanted unit 22 as 1st choice but got all screwed up on the online application. Remember me Tommy? lol Congratulations and good luck to you! "Fasten your seatbelt" as I think I remember you telling me to do if I were drawn for Burro's!!! -Ronnie

thought this was cool.
Shiras replied to COUESAZ's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Something I saw in an e-mail the other day. Seems a little strange coming from the socialist nation of France...errr, Canada. This coming from the nation banning handguns... hmmm. Maybe they are promoting bowhunting??????? -Shiras -
I just don't see how she helps in any way shape or form. All of her replacements-Christina (who needs a bath in bad way), Britney, Pamela (hepatitis blond) meet all the requirements of the brainless void needing to be filled. Although not out supporting peta, she does have every value 180 from where I believe most of Americans stand. Whatever, just my 2 cents.-Shiras

That's nice to know, I suppose, but she is hardly the spokesperson for hunters. (The following message is posted for madonna...) Please Madonna, do what you do best. Be the wh*re skank you are. Don't associate yourself with hunters or supporters of hunting. You are an embarrassment to the entire hunting community. Stick to defiling things like yourself, not our sport. -Shiras

Just curious as to how many of you know someone who has volunteered for the Minute Men program. I admire these guys greatly. I realize that I am delving into politics here, but how can we survive as a nation with 1500 (average) illegals coming into our land per day? Give a drivers license to an illegal? Amnesty? This is one thing Pres. Bush has dropped the ball on. Immigrants are one of the things that made this county great, but they didn't get here illegally. This nation is the best nation on Earth, but our borders are so porous that al-queda, (I refuse to capitilize this organization) or anyone else who seeks to cause us harm, could and can sneak thru our borders with no problem. All I want to do is raise my family in this great land without the fear of some rogue fascist (terrorist) doing harm to them and others. May God bless these Minute Men who volunteer their time and effort to support you, your family, and mine. -Shiras

I've thought of having a replica made of it....but I have to wait because my wife has made allusions that I may be getting it for my birthday. We'll see....-Shiras

Here in Oklahoma, crappie are biting like mad. Sand bass and largemouth aren't too bad either. Last month I went to Missouri on a little r&r with my family. My son was begging to go fishing, so we went down to lake Taneycomo and caught the most beautiful brown trout I have ever seen (trying not to be too biased here). I'll try to post a pic or 2. -Shiras

The same people that give and devote their lives to saving animals, are the same bunch that give people no chance. Terri Schaivo and millions of aborted babies-YES babies, not a hunk of flesh. This is a dangerous group. About a year ago, the group had ties to receiving money (support) from a group supporting Al-Qadea. It was buried in the papers, but I found the story in Outdoor Life. These people are not only anti-hunting/fishing, they are the quintessential anti-American. -Shiras

CHD, I am just stating that it seems to be somewhat of an unfair attack from what I have read. That is my OPINION. As for great posts, I have only hunted deer in NM 1 time, so my exposure to western hunting is very limited, but I don't think that makes me uninformed or clueless about the hostility you are exuding. Keep your chin and jabs above the belt, and have a wonderful day Chris. -Shiras
-
CHD, I know neither of you personally, but it seems to be that you are being just a wee bit neurotic, (i.e. emotional disturbances) over this. It seems Josh is stating fact while you are running off pure bitter emotion. Just my 2 cents. Just a little friendly constructive criticism. -Shiras

Indeed tough. In 5 days of hunting last year in (unit 23NM Nov 10- 14) I saw 2 does. Tons of carp. UGHHHHHHH. Tough is an understatement. Im not sure if unit 23 if unusually rough and rugged terrain but it ALMOST kicked my butt, almost. The ability to sit still, get comfortable, and glass sounds sounds so easy....boy was I ill prepared. Oh well, Im not givin' up. -Ronnie

Here in Oklahoma, my peers think it is a travesty for someone to want to travel to NM or AZ to try their luck at a "tiny" wt. In fact, I personally believe that to the average deer hunter (east of NM) would question..."why?" A fair size eastern, as anyone knows (rack size), would score very high as a coues. Well anyway, I was wanting to put in perspective to these guys what an "apples to apples" comparison would be, numbers wise....according to p&y and b&c minimums. (This may be common knowledge to everyone on the planet, but I had never sat down and figured out the equivalency spread) For typical scores, easterns and coues are separated by 60 points. Ex. 75 typ.coues=135 typ. eastern 120 typ. coues=180 typ. eastern For non-typical scores, easterns and coues are separated by 75 points Ex. 105 nt coues =180 nt eastern 150 nt coues =225 nt eastern

Man o man. That thing is unreal. I shot my largest eastern last year and it is almost identical to the score, but for an eastern not that impressive (I say that only for comparison sake), but for a coues..... That is truley a once in a lifetime buck. Congratulations!!! -Shiras

Were you in unit 23? Just curious. Great job and great grey! -Shiras

I was just on N.A.S.H.C website and saw that he had a section for himself! That is unbelievable. I knew he liked to shed hunt, but that is taking it to the next level. If anyone has any useful strategies for finding sheds in the mountains, I would be grateful. Back here I have found 1 stinkin' chewed to death shed, and 2 (probably unrecovered rifle kills) skulls in good shape in 6 years of scouting/ shed hunting. After looking at that website, it sure gives me at least a little hope of coming home with a consolation prize,- if a carp or wt isnt isn't in the cards for me this year.

Everything I have ever heard about the cougar is that they are very secretive and elusive. In '99 I went on a lion hunt with Dave Handrich (outfitters) from Glenwood. He told me in 30 years of guiding in Oregon, Arizona, and New Mexico, he had seen 3 not being chased by dogs. 3. To read in this post it sounds as if a cougar is behind every Juniper. Bullwidgeon, you hunt 23, are they as common as this post leads me to believe??? (They sure weren't in '99. We hunted 23 and 16 and found 4 old sets of tracks. Some 2 around tanks and 2 off the road.)
