You guys are all just a bunch of racist bigots... or at least that's what he's saying! http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/12/21/holder-cites-race-in-explaining-scrutiny-justice-department-actions/

As adults many of us have killed our fair share of pigs and have moved on to bigger and better critters. But when it comes to kids javelina are the perfect animal to get them started! My oldest son shot his first pig in October and he and his brothers couldn't have been any happier. Everything about hunting those stink hogs is ideal for teaching a youngster how to hunt and getting them hooked on hunting. The only bad part is that my boys aren't fully competent in the cleaning and packing chores so I still have to get my hands and pack all stinked up with that awful pig smell!!!

Yes to MOA!

Thanks for the report Jim! Sure gets the blood pumping for our hunt down there in a few weeks

Nothing wrong with the 260, but of the two you mentioned I'd go with the 6.5 WSM.

JLK is a brand of bullets nearly identical to Berger but in most cases they have a higher ballistic coefficent. They use the same exact J4 jackets as Bergers and the same manufacturing process/technology to make them. Needless to say they have the same devistating effects on animals that the Bergers do. I use them in both my 300 RUM and 6.5x284 with outstanding results. http://www.swampworks.com/jlk/

I have a 6.5x284 that is one of the most accurate rifles I own. A friend of mine built a 6.5x47 Lapua for his son that is crazy accurate and very light with very mild recoil. Another friend is bringing his 6.5-.06 to Mexico next month. A different friend has a .260 remington and is currently building a 6.5 WSM. Seems like 6.5's are taking over the hunting world but I really don't think a guy can go wrong with one! I'm shooting 130 grain JLK's out of mine and it will shoot 1/4 MOA all day long!

Does anyone know why the website is down? Or when it will be up with the 2012 hunting details? http://www.scatrwd.com/

I've had one for about a month now and love it!!! It is everything they advertise it to be. I've got readings out to over 2000 yards. The BC computer will make calculations out to 1400 yards and compensates for angle, temperature, and barometric pressure. When you press the button it will give you the actual yardage, then the compensated yardage. All you have to do is click and shoot. You can also program up to 5 different rifle's or loads into it at the same time as well. It does give a wind hold but you need to either guess the wind or use a Kestrel. Took me about an hour to read the instructions, figure out all the buttons, and get my first rifle programed into it. I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about it. If anyone is in the Prescott area and wants to take a look at it I'd be happy to meet up and show it to you. - Tim

Is this a 1" tube with 1/4" clicks? - Thanks!

I know Treestandman tried many of the commercial scents and his favorite was Code Blue. His opinion was that the scents worked but conditions had to be just right. He also thought that peeing in the scrape seemed to work pretty good and he would often use that technique to start new scrapes instead of using the expensive store bought stuff. He sent me an email one time with pictures of a 110" type buck that checked on a scrape that he pee'd in. The key was finding an area where bucks were actively chasing does.

Sounds like we need to get this Serval cat an endangered species listing and a Federal recovery plan in place right away!
-
Looks like the environmental wackos are already trying to find ways to use this latest sighting against us! Notice the bullet point that mentions a "Federal recovery plan". Nothing good for hunters or the way our country is allowed to secure our borders will come from this study. http://azstarnet.com/news/local/camera-network-will-focus-on-jaguars/article_3bd1d60e-8a37-5390-b50e-a776166085fb.html

Cool stuff!!! I can't wait for our trip down there in January.

"Worth it" will always be in the eye of the beholder. However I don't think that anyone can ever dispute that the warranty and service you get from The Outdoorsmans products is top notch. If there is ever the slightest question there is a problem they will make it right... period! A person could look for a long time and never find a company that stands behind their stuff like they do.

I don't need a score to know if an animal is big or not. But I do think using a score is a good point of reference when discussing antler size with others. To some a big buck is 90" and to others it's 120" but if I say there is a 110" buck standing on the hill we have a pretty good common understanding of the bucks size. Deductions are for tax returns!

I've got one off a 90" buck in my freezer I'd be willing to part with for $50. I'm in Prescott. Just give me a call if your interested. Tim @ 928-533-8807 Here's a pic of the cape while it was still on the buck.

Hope you have a great Birthday Phil!!!

Since Lark was asking I'll give him first dibbs. If he doesn't want it then it's yours. Thanks! Tim

Lark, I've got a Leupold M8-4X with extended eye relief(silver)that I've had sitting on my shelf for several years now. I had it mounted on my Ruger Super Redhawk for awhile but haven't had the urge to use it for several years now. If you're interested I can post pic's. $100 and it's yours. I'm in Prescott so you'd either need to pick it up or pay for actual shipping. Tim 928-533-8807

We're pulling the boys out of school at lunch time and heading out. Kade has both a deer and javelina tag and the new 6.5x284 is ready to punch something with a 130 grain JLK! Plus this year I'm taking the two younger brothers and we are backpacking 2 miles into our spot. There are sime real nick bucks in the area so you never know we might just get lucky!
