Seems pretty logical to me. You never know...... if we find out who the right person is and mind our p's and q's they might just listen.

I've spent a ton of time in 24b. The deer will be in the same general areas as your December hunts. Coues deer aren't real migratory and for the most part you will find the bucks in the same areas you find them in the summer. There are coues deer in that unit from 3000 foot elevation on up, so don't rule out some of the lower more traditional mule deer areas. I've even seen a few at 2800 ft.

If it's an antler then where is the other one? You'd have a better view of the other side from that camera angle and there's nothing there. I say it's a split ear.

Nothing in AZ for me this year!!!! That's ok, I've already got a NM archery bull tag, a NM rifle deer tag and a trip to Mexico in January for coues deer. Not to mention AZ archery deer and bear.

The only animals you CAN NOT bait are bears and migratory birds.

Red Rabit, don't forget to pour some of that doe in heat or cow in estrus urine into your water bottle. It really helps to cover all the scent you breathe out. I personally like the urine they sell in little spray bottles that you can just spray directly into your mouth. Nothing will scare a big buck away quicker than burping up the half digested stench of last night's taco bell.

Red Rabbit, you're getting the two unit 23's mixed up! All the deer in AZ 23 moved to unit 45 because of the fires. The deer in NM unit 23 were all eaten by the family of Sasquatch that live in there. I guess the bottom line is still the same........ there's no deer in unit 23!

Not to beat a dead horse, but being someone that has had a couple cameras stolen, take the advise posted above and don't leave your cameras where other people will find them. I don't care how big your chain and pad lock are, or how camoflauge the unit is, if someone finds your camera and wants it bad enough they will take it, and if they can't take it they will destroy it while trying to take it. The sad part about the whole security issue is that for the most part it's other hunters that are stealing our cameras.

I had a moultrie and it only took pictures in the daytime. It would take a few pictures at night, but never as many as it should have. I know for a fact that it was not working properly at night because I put another camera right next to it that was taking pic's at night and the moultrie was not. I also agree with the others here that the security features are less than ideal. Go to www.pixcontroller.com and see how you can build a quality digital camera for under $200. I built two for about $180 each. If you buy a less expensive camera you could build one for less.

I've shot Muzzy 4 blade 90 grain broadheads for years and killed quite a few animals with them. They fly straight and the extra blade sure helps leave a good blood trail.

Nice work Josh! How far apart were they, and how far from the trail camera were they?

I know that Pine/Strawberry got some rain over the weekend, but does anyone know if they got rain last night (Monday 6/26)? From the radar on the news it looked as if they may have been hit pretty good. Thanks, Tim

Treestandman and myself have both had a couple of cameras stolen over the last couple of years. We really don't put them over water anymore. Water attracts too many people and that's when they get stolen. It's sad because I'm pretty sure that it's other hunters that steal them! Anymore we really only put them over trails and salt. Remember that no matter how secure your camera is that if someone wants it bad enough they will get it. -
I drew a unit 17 archery bull tag for the late hunt, and a unit 23 rifle coues deer tag for the early hunt. It should be an exciting hunting season!

I agree for the waiting peroid for elk. Sitting out for a couple of years may help to reduce some pressure. If this were to happen it might be nice if a person could continue to accumulate bonus points while you were waiting. I also think it would also make more sense to have the waiting period only apply to bull elk rather than to both bulls and cows. I don't think I'd want antelope to be once in a lifetime quite yet. I think I'd rather see them have a person sit out for awhile as well. Only for antelope perhaps a person should have to sit out for 5-7 years. Once a program like this was in place then the system could be monitored and if things don't get better then we could jump to once in a lifetime.

Don't think people are ignoring you. This topic has been discussed several times in the past and if you do a search you'll probably find some good info. I think the short answer to your question is "it depends". If the conditions are right you can rattle coues deer in. The key is being in the right place at the right time and a little bit of luck never hurts either.

Nice job on the fresh bone! Sounds like you had a real good day. I'll have to stop by and take a look at them this week.

Desertbull, I had a moultrie digital last summer and had the same problem as you. Lots of day time pictures but very, very few at night. Finally I decided to put another camera on the same tank at the same time as the moultrie and see if there was a problem with the camera taking night pictures. Sure enough the new camera got several pictures at night and the moultrie didn't. I called moultrie and they said I could send it back and they would test it, but I never got around to it. Maybe you've got the same problem I was having? Seems like I'd get an occasional night picture with it, but never as many as I should have been getting. By the way one of the pictures that the moultrie missed that the other camera picked up was a mountain lion.

A Newbie comes on here asking for help, he says "any help would be greatly appreciated". Six suggestions were given (Kiabab, Estrallas, White Tanks, Around Payson, South of Maricopa, and unit 45). The Newbie comes back here and flames the people that gave him the suggestions. Funny way of showing his appreciation? I guess this is why people don't like e-scouters and don't like giving out info to newbies.

Deer - 3 Elk - 4 Buffalo - 6 Antelope - 9 Bighorn - 9

I'll also give the nod to the Muzzy's. It's the one factor in my archery set up that never changes. I prefer the 4 blade 90 grain for everything from pigs to bull elk.

WOW!!! I just got done looking at the proposed regs on the AZ G&F website and I can't believe they're still pushing the issue! So far the vast majority of some 6,500 people that have taken the deer survey are overwhelmingly against the proposal and yet the G&F keeps moving it forward. Not only the deer but as Brett mentioned now they've screwed up the bear hunts too. What's the reasoning behind all these changes? It surely cant be science! They say they want to increase hunter opportunity but the hunters are saying they don't want more opportunity they want to stick with quality. I don't see how this could be anything but a money issue??? More hunter opportunity = more tags sold = more $$$. You'd think the results of the survey would be enough to get these changes voted down... what are these guys thinking?

Well it only took me 4 1/2 years to go back and find the other side to this big New Mexico four point. It was only about 200 yards from where I found the first one right off the side of the trail. Lucky me!!! The buck should gross right around 120 inches. Here's the link to the first side I found 4 1/2 years ago. Will someone help me post the picks of the other side??? http://www.coueswhitetail.com/shed_photos/coues_sheds_8.htm

So many other things went on during the hunt I had forgotten about her! Josh is only telling a small piece of the story. Ms. Mustachio framed houses for a living and had one of them "life partners". When she first rode up to us on her quad in the morning with her big fluffy jacket and hood pulled up around her face I wasn't sure what to think??? All I could think of was SNL and PAT. She actually drove up on the lion while it was on the kill. She said she took some pictures before it moved off. The kill was probably less than a mile from her house where she kept some sort of expensive dogs as pets. She was certain the lion had been stalking her dogs and she wanted it gone!

Muleybull, As I mentioned earlier I don't spend much time up there and probably won't be back anytime soon, so I personally would have zero problem telling you exactly where we killed it. However, out of respect to Josh, Randy, and Randy I don't want to give up too much info about their hunting areas. If they want to tell you that's fine with me. Thanks for understanding, Tim
