Ow, I set myself up for that one didn't I??? Thanks for the chuckle, my Dad would have said the same thing!!!
  3. Your box looks good and I'm sure it will be a good deterrant. Just remember that your security box will only keep honest men honest!!!! If someone wants your camera bad enough they will still get it! Don't get yourself too comfortable with your security box and put it out on water holes or areas where a lot of people visit. Often times if someone can't steal it they will destroy it. I've personally had two cameras stolen and one camera destroyed. I thought mine was pretty secure with the big cable lock I had securing it to the tree. When I lost the key for the lock I was quite surprised that the smallest, cheapest pair of bolt cutters from Home Depot cut right thorugh the cable like butter!!! Good luck!

Thanks Schmitty! I'll have to stop in Bills place sometime. It will be nice to have a local source for my powder. I was able to get a can of the ssc down at SW in Mesa, but I've got 4 rifle hunts coming up this fall so I'm sure I'll burn through this can in no time and need another. I think Prescott could sure use a Sportsmans Warehouse!

Spending time in a tree stand ?

For me personaly I wouldn't want any kind of head phones in my ears. Often times you can hear a deer coming in before you ever see it.

    Ammo prices increasing

I've heard that the price increases are in part due to the manufacturers producing so much ammo for the war in Iraq. It's not just the price of ammo, it's also the price of the components as well. I heard a couple of the primer manufacturers are not producing any more for sale to the public. They are only producing for the military right now. As a result the price of primers has tripled recently.

Schmitty, is Bills in Prescott? I've only lived here a few months and haven't been to all the gun shops yet? Went to a gun shop the other day that is just south of wiskey row across from safeway and they couldn't get the 7828 in the super short cut. It would be nice if there is a local source for my powder. Thanks!

Lion and Bear Tooth Info from AZGFD

I just got a letter dated July 10, 2007 from the AZ G&F department for a lion I killed on January 29, 2006. It said that my lion was 3 years old.
  9. Seems like a lot of politians don't really think things through before they propose new laws. This seems to be one of those times. How can you place a wide spread cap on something like that? The game department in Nevada will have different costs and bugets than the department in Wyoming or Arizona? It seems like such a simple concept to me that the Federal gov't owns the land, but the individual states own the animals. No one is locking the gates to the national forests they're still there for everyone to enjoy. You just have to pay the state to hunt there animals.

    Hunting Mexico

Don't worry Tommy, you and Jason can decide for yourselves which way is better come January!!!! Last year on the first day of our hunt my guide and I went out first thing with the rancher to have him show us the area. At one point we got out of the truck to glass a hillside just off the road. We glassed for a minute until the rancher motioned for us to move up and glass from a point about 100 yards further up the road. I grabbed my tripod and went to where he motioned me to go. I sat down and within two minutes had a bruiser double main beamed buck at about 600 yards away! Never did close the deal, but that's why I'm going back in January! That rancher was real good at spotting with his naked eyes. I'll bet if you put him behind some german glass he'd be incredible!!!!

Again just to clarify, the outfitter I use has American guides with German glass. These guys aren't just mexican cowboys.

    Hunting Mexico

Just by way of comparison I pay $3,500 for a fully guided hunt down there. That includes all my food, and a guide. A lot of people say they don't "need" a guide and I totaly agree. It's not necessary! However for an extra $500 to have all your meals prepared and an extra set of eyes when glassing it's money well spent.
  14. I'd change it back to quality not quantity.
  15. They made it very clear in the letter they mailed out to those that drew tags. In big capital letters it says: "NO PERSONAL CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED". To me if someone can't take the responsibility to follow simple directions then they most certainly don't deserve to recieve a greater responsibility of walking around with a loaded gun and shooting animals!!!

    1st deer

Way to go on a nice first buck!
  18. Kevin, I'm real happy with the p32. As mentioned the trigger is a tad slower and it's got less megapixls, but it works great. I do try to put it in a spot where the animals will stop, but even when they don't I still get mostly full bodies. I just checked one of them today here's a pic. Sorry the camera wasn't alligned very well in the case, but you get the picture (pun intended).

    Wolf Drama....

Chris, it's true! The full blooded Mexican Grey wolf is extinct. What we have left is not a pure line, and therefore the entire experment is a JOKE!!!

    Wolf Drama....

There aren't any wolves in New Mexico. Just some cur dogs with a few strands of wolf DNA. Mexican grey wolves are extinct.
  21. I like the Pixcontroller boards. I've been able to make a couple for about $200 -$225 depending on how much you spend on the camera. I like to use the Sony P32's. You can buy them used on ebay for about $80. There are very good instructions on the website as well. Good luck and don't be surprised if you get hooked!!!

    Draw Results Available Online

Well it looks like treestandman and myself drew a couple of 12A west late deer tags!!!! Drew our first choice with only 4 points and got tag #45 to boot. I've got a busy fall lined up with New Mexico antelope in September. A Utah rifle deer tag the third week in October. A Kiabab deer tag in late November. And I'll cap it all off with a Mexico coues deer hunt in January!
