Of course I'm putting in. I've never understood why someone would choose to just buy a point for sheep? The odds are so tough to draw that even bonus points do little if any good. Why would someone want to waste a year when it's really just a race against the clock.

I found 5 elk sheds in unit 8 this past weekend. If you added the score of all five sheds it would still score way less than one of those sheds. Amazing!!!

There are four species of rattlesnake that you can't kill in Arizona. The Ridgenosed, Twin Spotted, Rock, and Massasauga. All of them life in the far south east corner of the state.

I set up three cameras yesterday and found five brown elk sheds to boot! The weird thing is that I found all five of the sheds at three different dirt tanks just laying there out in the open. Oh, and for what it's worth the elk sheds are all dinks. Three small rags and two spikes.

I'm going out tomorrow to set out a few of my cameras. I like to get them set after memorial day because there will be fewer people in the field to find them, and also because deer really haven't grown enough antler until mid june to start telling if they are shooters or not. I'll probably leave them out for at least 2-3 weeks.

I just picked up another brick of 1000 of the Fed 215's at the Sportsmans Warehouse in North Phoenix, but they didn't have any of the 300 RUM Brass.

Not a drop of rain so far up here on the north side of Prescott. Funny how certain parts of the state can get dumped on while others get nothing!

Things like this just go to show you that it's always good to have a little stock pile...... Or a big one!

Ok, I guess I'll be the gineau pig on this one. I just ordered one. It came to $20 with the shipping. I'll let you all know in a week or so how it turns out.

Just checked out three gun shops here in Prescott yesterday and none of them had the 215 mag primers. If you find them you'd be wise to buy everything you can! This has been going on since at least last summer, and there not getting any easier to find.

Don't drink the kool-aid Lark!!!! I saw this on the news last night and from the report I listened to they came to this decision because there has been a large decrease in the pack ice in the artic. I didn't hear one word about the bears numbers actually decreasing or the bears actually being on the decline. Just a lot of talk about the pack ice melting and that the bears could all be gone by 2050 if something isn't done about it right away! Sure whish we could get such a quick response from our politicians when it comes to other issues like Social Security, Illegal Immigration, Oil prices, etc. They want to micro manage bears in the artic, but no body can make a single effective decision about protecting our borders. What's up with that?

What a waste of time and money? I wonder who's paying the bill for the government agency that is conducting the testing of the bullets.

I pretty much agree with what every one said. I own a .270 Weatherby mag and get average velocities 3,550 feet per second with a 130 grain Sierra Game King bullet. It took quit a bit of trial and error to find a load that it would shoot well, but I've got it dialed in with 3/4 inch groups. For me the compairson between a .270 wsm and a .270 Weatherby mag is like a Corvette and a Ferrari. They're both super fast, the Ferrari is usually a little faster, but it also comes at a cost. In most practical senses the added cost of the .270 weatherby is not going to pay for it's edge in velocity. I would not recomend this caliber unless you plan to spend a lot of time working up new loads. For me it was a frusterating experience, but now that I've got it shooting well I love the raw killing power that the caliber/load/bullet provides. I'm having a new custom .300 RUM built for this Falls hunts, so my .270 Wby will probably take a back seat for awhile.

I also use the Harris. I killed a bedded coues at 404 yards with it from the sitting position. I wouldn't recomend it for shots longer than that.

Hey Casey, what's a whitetail turkey? They must be extinct or something now from over hunting and global warming or something like that? I'd sure love to add one of them to my big game collection. I'd probably put it up on the wall right next to my jackalope and a real nice snipe I caught when I was a kid on a camping trip with the boy scouts. Right now my favorite rifle is a Christensen Arms .270 weatherby mag. I've killed three coues deer, 1 mule deer, 2 antelope, and 2 javelina with it. It will probably become my back up rifle as soon as my .300 RUM custom is finished later this summer.

Sounds like they sent me and Desertbull the exact same notice. I'll just keep my fingers crossed for Arizona, New Mexico, and the remaining draws in Nevada.

I own and use two pairs of bino's. I use my Swarovski 15x56 with a tripod for glassing, and I use Minox 8x32 for around my neck while I'm hiking, stalking, or for looking at close stuff. For me the binos around my neck really take a beating. I really don't go anywhere without them and they get banged around pretty hard, while my expensive Swarovski's are protected in my pack. It's for this reason that I don't want a thousand dollar set of glass hanging from my neck getting beat up. I choose to buy less expensive mid priced binos with good glass to use for close stuff. I may have to replace them every 6-8 years from all the abuse, but I'd rather replace a set of $400 binos than a set of $1,000 binos. JMO I'll be buying a new pair this summer to replace my Minox. They've lasted me roughly 10 years and they're just getting to scratched and worn out. I'll be looking at Minox, Vortex, Pentax, Nikon, and perhaps a few other brands to replace them. Although I think I'll probably step up to some 10 power instead.

Jason, I'm not sure if there has been a public statement from Cabelas about restitoution. But I'll bet they at least got one of them coupons they hand out at the expos that gets you $10 off of any purchase of $50 or more.
