Very nice! Looks like a real skull cap buster to me

As mentioned in the article the NRA will most likley begin to file law suits in several other gun ban cities across the country. This will no doubt cost a lot of money. It would probably be a good idea for those of us that enjoy our rights to own guns to either join the NRA, renew our membership, or just send them a check to help the cause. I know a lot of people, including myself, have issues with the way the NRA is run, but the truth is they're all we've got!!!

Does anyone know what's wrong with the link to the San Carlos website? I've tried it several times over the last few weaks and it's dead. Thanks.

Showing off my trophy room

Thanks Bobbyo, I got a good chuckle out of that one! -
I agree the western states various big game drawings can be tricky, but with a little research and luck you should be able to do much better than zero tags in six years. Take Wyoming for example, I know the red desert areas have very low odds, but I also know that there are several other units in Wyoming with good quality and much lower odds. Also there are many areas with easy draw odds and big goats, they just have some private land issues. With a few phone calls a person could find these ranches and work out a deal with the rancher. Not all of them want money for hunting there property, and I know some of them would love a few mindfull hunters to come and reduce the antelope population on there property. Each year look over the draw odds for the various hunting units and look for potential sleeper units. I know in Colorado there are units for deer that can be drawn by non residents with 0-1 preferance points and these units have world class potential. In fact I think the world record typical mule deer was killed many years ago in a pretty easy to draw unit. Utah has the limited draws which can be difficult to draw, but they also have general hunts which are much easier to draw. In fact, most years there are usually left over archery tags for deer in Utah. The general rifle deer hunts could probably be drawn every other year in the unit I hunt. Nevada has difficult draws as well but with a litttle research you can also find the sleeper uinits. I drew a deer tag there for this fall and it was the first time I ever applied. I had zero points. I'm hunting the early season, and we'll be back packing in to get away from other hunters, but at least I'll be hunting the high country in October. There are good genetics in my unit and the possibility is there for a monster, but for the most part we'll be looking for 180 inches or better. I also drew a deer tag and another antelope tag in New Mexico this year. This is my third antelope tag in 4 years over there. Deer used to be over the counter over there, but you can still draw tags on a pretty consistant basis if you do your homework. I've only had one archery bull tag 4 years ago, but we drew that the first time we applied. Sorry to ramble on, but my point is that you've got to play the game if you want to go hunting. Each year my goal is to get one or two good tags. I have to apply for 25 tags a year to achieve this, but it can be done. Look at all your options, apply for every bonus/preferance point you can apply for. Even apply for points if you don't think you'll be able to hunt there for a few years. You never know when an opportunity may present itself. I've been applying for deer points in Kansas for four years now even though I doubt I'll be able to hunt there anytime soon. At least I'll have enough points to garuntee me the tag when I decide to go. Talk to ranchers, land owners, guides, and outfitters, you never know when someone might surprise you with some information that enables you to hunt a prime piece of property or helps you get a special tag. Look into getting land owner tags, or putting in on the Outfitter draws they don't all charge as much as you might think and the odds are often much, much better than the regular draws. Good luck!!!!

Sportsmen's Action Needed
TAM replied to rthrbhntng's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
For starters people need to stop calling them wolves. Wolf/dogs, hybrids, currs, etc are all more accurate terms to classify them. The pure breed of Mexican Grey Wolves is extinct! And for what it's worth burro's and wild horses should be right behind them on the short list of animals that need to be removed from the wild. Neither of which are native to Arizona or even North America for that matter, not to mention they're both domestic livestock gone ferrel. How and why do we give such animals protection is beyond me! -
Yes it has begun! Rifle antelope and rifle burro coues in November for me. Looks like my fall hunt schedule is shaping up very nicely!!!!!

I'm sure he's just baiting the deer and a few bears happend to stop by and check it out. -
I saw a post on one of these hunting sites a few months ago that said: "Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he made up global warming."
-
Not me. First and second rifle hunts, left the rest blank.
-
Blake, that second buck could be him. He was in the exact same area as big brother. Are those from last year? Eli, I saw a buck last October or November that looked like a younger version of Fish Hook. He was herded up with at least 30 or so other antelope several miles to the west of where I watched Fish Hook during the rut. I wonder if that pic you posted is of the same buck I saw with another years growth?
-
Here's three more of ole Fish Hook. The first is his profile and is basicly why I started calling him fish hook. When you looked at him from the side all you could see was lots of length and no prongs. However when you saw him from the front or back you could really see his prongs flare out to either side. Blake, there was another buck out there last year that looked like a little brother to that 88 incher. I didn't get any good pic's of him, but he had to have been in the 83-84 inch range. As far as I know he never did get killed. We'll see here real soon if he turns up.
-
I'm right with you on the NM tag. I've drawn 2 in the last three years and have killed three of them in my life, but have yet to kill a biggun. NM is just hit and miss on the ranch assignment. Perhaps one day I'll get lucky three times and draw a tag, on a good ranch, and kill a big buck. So untill then I'll just keep my fingers crossed for an AZ tag and in the mean time I'll keep taking pic's of the good bucks I find in the Prescott area.
-
Effenjeff, is your tag in 19b? If so I'll keep my eyes open for you and let you know if I see anything nice. Terry, I saw pictures of that forward hooking buck that Eli's hunter killed last year but it's not the same buck. I've got a picture of Fish Hook dead that Chris Denham sent me last September but I won't post it because neither I nor Chris knows the hunter or has permission to post. I'd still like to know what he scores if anyone ever tracks it down. The pic of him dead really shows his character and size! I'll keep my camera in the truck again this summer and try to find some more big bucks to post for everyone.
-
Correction. Eli said the top buck was 88 2/8 inches green. With 17 plus horns.
-
Here's pic's of the two best bucks I found last year. The first buck was killed by one of the auction tag winners and green scored 89 and change I believe. The second buck, which I nick named Fish Hook, was killed by a hunter but I never found out his score. I guessed him in the 86-87 inch range. Fish Hook was the coolest looking buck I've ever seen. I've probably got at least a half hour of video of each buck. It will be fun to see if any bucks with his unique genetic features pop up in the next few years. Both of these bucks lived in the same square mile or so of country.
-
I live in Prescott, and while I've never seen them from the house I have seen them with in about a two minutes drive. The big bucks will be a lot more visable here in another month or so once they start to pay more attention to the does. For what it's worth there is a great thread every year on the AZOD site where some of the top antelope guides post pic's and info on big antelope bucks. The thread is called "Early photos 2008". A person could learn a lot from those guys over there.
-
His info under his avatar pic says he's from Paulden. Thats right on the border of 19 A & B and unit 8 is just up the road. There is a good chance he can see them from his house.

Large buck on Ebay
TAM replied to AZcoues_addict's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Hey Josh do you think that's a Coues or an Eastern? -
That makes perfect sense! Those two brothers are DUMB as rocks and fit that stereotype to the T. Good for Pride/Zuffa for dumping him. If the MMA orginizations ever want more main stream sponsors and acceptance they are going to have to prove to the world they are not a bunch of corrupt, drug using, blood thursty thugs. I know they're playing re-runs of that Nick Diaz EliteXC fight. If you missed it, it's worth watching. If for no other reason than to see the HUGE cut get ripped open on his forehead and to watch his little hissy fit after the doc calls it.
-
What about Nick Diaz? He left the UFC for the EliteXC and then proceeded to smash his face into his opponents fists/knees so many times it ripped a nasty gash the size of the grand canyon above his eye and the doc had to call the fight. Then like the crybaby he is he gave double fingers to the crowd and ran out of the arena crying like a little girl. Sorry I can't remember the other guys name but it was for the new title of that division. I'm really not a fan of either of the Diaz brothers but this one's really got me puzzled??? Why would a pretty solid fighter in the UFC leave for the EliteXC? No surprise that a true 145 pounder like Pulver would go to the WEC so he could fight his true weight class, but Diaz bailing out for the EliteXC doesn't make any sense at all. Probably had something to do with money, but I'm sure all that back fired on him when he lost the title fight. Hopefully Joe Silva and Dana White tell him where the little bear pooped in the forest when he comes begging for his contract back. AMEN to Lesnar vs Slice!!!!!
-
I've been waiting for this one for awhile. Who's your pic Sunday night? I'm hoping Pulver wipes the arrogant smirk off the face of that Kalifornia pretty boy!
-
Yep it was a good fight. I was glad to see it go five rounds and at least get a good show. I think Pulver was a little gun shy after getting hit by a couple heavy rights from Faber early on and just stayed to cautious the rest of the fight. I agree about the strikes to the back of the head. Faber did prove that he's got a quick heavy right hand. So if Jens couldn't wipe the cocky smile off the pretty boys face then who's going too? I doubt Cub Swanson could go five rounds with him. For me it's only fun to watch when there is a legitimate challenger and right now I don't see anyone taking the belt away from Faber. What's up with the corn rows anyway? I can only imagine the rotten stench of arrogance emitting from Faber as he struts around his victory party. Someone's gotta deflate that boys ego!
-
Just got my shirt in the mail today!
-
Faber could easily step up to 155 and fight in the UFC. That's what Pulver did for years. The decision probably comes down to money. He's probabaly making more money being the top dog in the WEC at 145 than he would if he were in the top ten 155 pounders in the UFC.
