    Bighorn vs tree

That's a cool find! I'd love to know the rest of the story behind it.
  2. It's not just the Hispanics that politicians are trying not to piss off. There are numerous groups of voters that politations are trying to please. Senior citizens, gun owners, union workers, teachers, blue collar, white collar, women, young voters, just to name a few. The people in charge of the campaings look at every "group" of people possible and then come up with ways to look good and earn there votes. I guess that's why it's called campaining.
  3. Laeve a box or two of Krispy Kreames out and I'll bet that yellow one will be back for sure!

    Antelope

Here are a few pic's I took tonight of a decent antelope buck. He was close enough I could have shot him with my bow.
  5. Hunt4horns, Over the last decade or so the Hispanic vote has become a key ingredient to winning a national political campaign. Right now the majority of the Hispanic voters are more liberal and the Democrats don't want to do anything to loose that trust and confidence. The Republican party has had a difficult time over the years gaining the trust of the Hispanics and other minority groups. The fact is that more Hispanics will vote Democrat than Republican. If either party were to do something catastrophic to stir the pot of the Hispanic voters that party could loose the election. Both partys are walking on egg shells right now when it comes to issues related to Mexico, closing the border, loosing jobs to Mexico, deporting illegal immigrants, and so on. Both sides, especially the Republicans who don't do well with the Hispanic voters are choosing there words very carefully and being very selective on how they discuss these issues. I'm sure there are others like you that see these invasions as a threat that needs to be stopped, but I believe that for every one person like yourself, there are a dozen more that would see it as an attack on Mexico.

    Antelope Shed

Here's a crappy pic of one I found just a couple days ago. I've found a few over the years but never anything very big. I think once they fall off they shrink up like a rasin. Often times in about November the antelope will group up in big herds and spend days in the same field or pasture. If you look in those areas you'll have better luck finding them.

Wow a grammar lesson from Lark??? Or is it grammer? I say we get Nappy out and vote Lark in!!! I can see the signs all over the state with "Lark for Gov" in big letters and the slogan underneath will read "Don't drink the Kool-aid".
  8. LOL! It wouldn't be politicaly correct to protect our borders. Besides which political party is willing to give up the hispanic vote by pissing them all off?
  9. Although this may sound cool, it's actually bad press for the NRA! The public already has the perception that gun owners and the NRA are too extreme and political bullies. This will not help there reputation.

    Antelope

Mike, I'm not waiting till next year to kill me a good goat. I've got a NM rifle tag in a real good spot north of Carrizozo and I'm planning on getting my 80 incher next month. Although, my Arizona lope is just going to have to grow another year. RR, I've seen plenty of bucks starting to round up the does and rubbing there horns, but the two bucks I posted the pic's of did not have any does with them. The first buck has a group of 15 or so that he keeps within 1/4 to 1/2 mile from, and the second buck didn't have a doe in sight and was hanging out in the hills and PJ's on the fringe of they're range. Sundevil, you could be very right! I was thinking they might be the same because there prongs are shaped the same, there hooks are long and don't really hook, they both have similar spreads, and they live in the exact same spot. But you never really know. For what it's worth that last buck is a bigger buck than the first. I think the first buck kinda fools you because the pic's are so close to him which makes him look bigger. The last buck has better mass, better prongs and his hooks really curl in adding to his length.

    Antelope

Here's a better buck that I chased around for about an hour this afternoon. Sorry they're not as clear as the others but I didn't have my tripod and the buck was about 150-200 yards away. These pictures really don't show him as well as I would have liked. His hooks really curl in a lot and have polished tips and his prongs are really good as well. This buck was a definate shooter to me.

    Antelope

Thanks for pointing that out Mike! 13 bonus points and world class antelope 10 minutes from the house and I can't even draw a stinkin tag. The truth is I would have passed this guy up. There are some huge bucks in this area. Here are a couple pic's of what I believe is the same buck last year.
  13. Yes placement matters. If they get direct sunlight they can have false triggers. In more open country I try to place them facing north. In areas with thicker vegetation or more mountains or ridges to block the sun just use your best judgement. The sun will reflect off blades of grass and water. Good luck!

    Deer & Cattle

If I remember correctly Steven Ward shot his 110 inch archery buck around a herd of cows. I think the cows actually pushed the buck out of thick cover and made it possible for him to get his shot. My opinion is that deer will hang around even with cows in the area. Sometimes they may change there patterns to work around the cattle, but they're still there. I know up on the Kaibab this past fall I watched a mule deer doe and a cow water together at the same time at the same water trough. Just my .02

    Two strikes...

There sure is a lot of land in Arizona that is not properly posted. Every hunter should become familiar with the proper posting procedures on pages 96 & 97 of the 2008-09 AZGF Deer regulations. It's not complex, but in Arizona it is the responsibility of the land owner to properly post there land if they don't want the public to have access to it. It's never any fun getting run off by a cowboy that didn't follow proper posting procetures, but in Arizona it's there own fault and they have no right to threaten you if you are cooperative.
  17. I've probably said this a dozen times now, but it's worth saying again. The BIGGEST TOUGHEST locks won't keep your cameras safe from a theif!!! I've had cameras that were locked down with PYTHON LOCKS stolen. In fact, I once lost the key to one of my python locks and had to cut the lock with a pair of bolt cutters. Since I didn't already own a pair I bought the cheapest pair of bolt cutters I could find (about $10) at Home Depot. They sliced right through the cable lock with ease and I had my camera back. I'd bet money you couldn't unlock it using the key faster than I snipped it with the bolt cutters. It's that simple. Even if you buy a super lock made of Kryptonite that superman him self couldn't break, a dirty thief will just use a saw to cut the tree down. The only way a thief isn't going to take your camera is if they don't find it!

    Hunting Boots

I really like the Danner Pronghorns. I'm on my second pair. I learned the hard way years ago that cheap boots will cost you in the long run. Spend the money and get a high quality pair of boots that fits well and is comfortable on your feet.

    North of the River Muley's

I've posted these before, but since you asked. These are from our 2007 12AW hunt. Four bucks in three days up high in the summer range during the late hunt. The live buck is mine before I shot him. Good luck on your hunt!

    Antelope Pic's

I went out tonight to look at some antelope and got a few pictures. I finally got close enough to a buck that I believe is related to a buck that I watched a lot last year that I named Fish Hook. A muzzleloader hunter killed Fish Hook last year, but judging from the pic's I got tonight of this new buck there is definately a relation. The first two pic's are the original Fish Hook, the second two are Fish Hook Jr., and the last pic is just an average buck but I really like the way the picture turned out. What do you think, father and son or older brother and younger brother? Fish Hook Sr 2007 Fish Hook Sr 2007 Fish Hook Jr 2008 Fish Hook Jr 2008 Cool pic

Me too! 12 BP's and counting. At least I've got a New Mexico antelope tag.
  22. I think they left out the part about global warming thawing out the ice caps and melting the perma frost which has made it more difficult for the bears to find food. So now they have to prey on humans. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!! That reporter really dropped the ball and did a lousy job of reporting the facts.

Hey man keep dreaming, we could be wrong? Coues deer just have a certain look to them and that one just doesn't have that look. Not even close.

    Outdoor fears Part 2

Sorry if I hijacked the thread by bringing up sharks and the ocean. My wife makes fun of me all the time for being afraid of sharks. She thinks I'm crazy for going out in the forrest with a predator caller to ring the dinner bell for animals to come eat me, but I won't go near the ocean for fear of sharks and the unknown. She's been wanting to go on a cruise for years, but I won't go because I'm not going out on the ocean. I don't like it. It just scares me not knowing what's down there! Although I do know what's down there... Sharks! It's really kind of two fears, not knowing what's below, and sharks. Yes, I do like shark week. Thats way cool stuff. Just don't ask me to participate. I personally wouldn't mind one bit if I never saw the ocean again.
