What are they supposed to be all dressed up in black like that.... Ninjas?

There sure is a lot of land in Arizona that is not properly posted. Every hunter should become familiar with the proper posting procedures on pages 96 & 97 of the 2008-09 AZGF Deer regulations. It's not complex, but in Arizona it is the responsibility of the land owner to properly post there land if they don't want the public to have access to it. It's never any fun getting run off by a cowboy that didn't follow proper posting procetures, but in Arizona it's there own fault and they have no right to threaten you if you are cooperative.

I've probably said this a dozen times now, but it's worth saying again. The BIGGEST TOUGHEST locks won't keep your cameras safe from a theif!!! I've had cameras that were locked down with PYTHON LOCKS stolen. In fact, I once lost the key to one of my python locks and had to cut the lock with a pair of bolt cutters. Since I didn't already own a pair I bought the cheapest pair of bolt cutters I could find (about $10) at Home Depot. They sliced right through the cable lock with ease and I had my camera back. I'd bet money you couldn't unlock it using the key faster than I snipped it with the bolt cutters. It's that simple. Even if you buy a super lock made of Kryptonite that superman him self couldn't break, a dirty thief will just use a saw to cut the tree down. The only way a thief isn't going to take your camera is if they don't find it!

I really like the Danner Pronghorns. I'm on my second pair. I learned the hard way years ago that cheap boots will cost you in the long run. Spend the money and get a high quality pair of boots that fits well and is comfortable on your feet.

I've posted these before, but since you asked. These are from our 2007 12AW hunt. Four bucks in three days up high in the summer range during the late hunt. The live buck is mine before I shot him. Good luck on your hunt!

I went out tonight to look at some antelope and got a few pictures. I finally got close enough to a buck that I believe is related to a buck that I watched a lot last year that I named Fish Hook. A muzzleloader hunter killed Fish Hook last year, but judging from the pic's I got tonight of this new buck there is definately a relation. The first two pic's are the original Fish Hook, the second two are Fish Hook Jr., and the last pic is just an average buck but I really like the way the picture turned out. What do you think, father and son or older brother and younger brother? Fish Hook Sr 2007 Fish Hook Sr 2007 Fish Hook Jr 2008 Fish Hook Jr 2008 Cool pic

Me too! 12 BP's and counting. At least I've got a New Mexico antelope tag.

I think they left out the part about global warming thawing out the ice caps and melting the perma frost which has made it more difficult for the bears to find food. So now they have to prey on humans. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!! That reporter really dropped the ball and did a lousy job of reporting the facts.

Hey man keep dreaming, we could be wrong? Coues deer just have a certain look to them and that one just doesn't have that look. Not even close.

I believe it's through the mail only. ......... I don't know it sells itself?

Sorry if I hijacked the thread by bringing up sharks and the ocean. My wife makes fun of me all the time for being afraid of sharks. She thinks I'm crazy for going out in the forrest with a predator caller to ring the dinner bell for animals to come eat me, but I won't go near the ocean for fear of sharks and the unknown. She's been wanting to go on a cruise for years, but I won't go because I'm not going out on the ocean. I don't like it. It just scares me not knowing what's down there! Although I do know what's down there... Sharks! It's really kind of two fears, not knowing what's below, and sharks. Yes, I do like shark week. Thats way cool stuff. Just don't ask me to participate. I personally wouldn't mind one bit if I never saw the ocean again.
-
Does anyone else get scared of the ocean and sharks! You couldn't pay me enough to go swimming in the ocean. Being out in the forest with mountain lions and bears doesn't bother me at all, but put me out in open water and I get a little freaked out by all the unknown stuff swimming below that wants to eat me.

Sportsmans Warehouse in Goodyear to Close

I originally heard the same thing as you Blake. I don't think the Kohles location would get as much business as over by the new home depot or Sams. There is way more traffic off 69. Either way I don't care, I just hope we get one and they build it fast! What do you mean TLH??? I thought ALL the women that shopped at Sportsmans Warehouse wear the camo undies? I will confess that my wife proudly wears one of the t-shirts that says "It's all about the RACK" -
UNSPORTSMAN LIKE CONDUCT!!!!
TAM replied to Buckhunter's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Everyone should know that locks and chains only keep honest people honest!!!! If the jerk wants it bad enough a set of $10 bolt cutters will go right through a big chain, lock, or cable. Even a cheap hack saw will do the trick most of the time. Don't let a big chain or cable give you a false sense of security! The only way your camera is safe is if no one finds it. I've lost several now. Even far off the trails with locks and cables. -
Skunked! But I'm not complaining, I've still got a New Mexico antelope, Burro Mountain deer tag, Nevada deer tag, and I'm going back to Mexico for coues in January.

Scout'em, Congrats on the new rifle. You're really going to like it. I've got the 50mm 6.5-20 Conquest on mine and would highly recommend it.

There is no sign that I know of for the store in Prescott Valley, just word of mouth rumors. As far as I know construction has not started either. They are just finishing a new Home Depot and they are in the middle of building a new Sams Club right across the street. I believe that Sportsmans Warehouse will be built in this same vacinity, but that's just a guess. I agree if it goes through it will put the hurt on the Big 5 Sports which is also in that same vacinity. I wonder if the big wigs at SW have ever considered building a scaled down version of the normal sized stores for a smaller market like Flagstaff or Prescott? Perhaps 75-80% of the size of the regular stores with fewer inventory, employees, and square footage to pay for. I know there is a lot of inventory at the stores in Phoenix that they could cut back on and probably not ever effect there bottom line. Stuff like the kayak's and goose decoys. Just another one of my many brilliant marketing ideas. -

I hope it doesn't effect the opening of a store in Prescott! We don't have a good store like that up here and I think our market could support it. -
Ok, so it's not a hunting question, it's a fishing question. I'm going fishing at big lake this weekend 7/11 and 7/12. I'm a novice fisherman at BEST. What kind of tackle should I bring for this time of year? Corn, cheese, power bait, spinners, salmon eggs, flies, worms, or something else???? What size hooks? What pound test line? I need to catch some fish or I'll get bored and quit after 20 minutes and go looking for elk! What should I be using to at least keep myself busy? The following weekend my family is going to Yellowstone and will be staying in Island Park. Generally speaking, will the same types bait/tackle work up there as down here? Thanks!
-
I've also read that even bucks with great genetic potential that are born on a drought year can be stunted for life.
-
Thanks everyone! Hopefully we'll catch a few. As noted my dates are wrong, I'll be going this weekend 7/18 and 7/19, and then to Yellowstone the following weekend. Do you think the same techniques will work for trout at the lakes at Island Park near Yellowstone?

Nice pic's RR, thanks for sharing! I love taking my boys out for an evening drive to look at the Antelope. I haven't found any real BIG bucks this year like I did last year, but lots of solid 80-84 inchers. I'll have to download some pic's and get them posted.

Redman, I have the National Geographic map software for both Arizona and New Mexico. The answer to your question is no. At least the majority of the time. There are a few MAIN roads that display the FS #'s but most don't. I love the program, but I would have to say that this is the biggest negative. Don't let this stop you or anyone from buying them. For the money there is nothing else that even comes in close!!!

New Mexico Antelope ranch assignment?
TAM replied to TAM's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Doug, I havn't talked with the rancher yet, but he is required to give us two days prior to the hunt and un-restricted access to the entire ranch. From my experience they won't usually let you in before that, but you never know. -
Just got my NM antelope tag in the mail today. Has anyone spent any time in unit 36 north of Carrizozo near a place called Claunch? Looks like we got assigned to a 16,000 acre ranch called the Carry Well Ranch. Any info on the general area, numbers, and size of the antelope would be appreciated. Thanks!
