Would not recommend this taxidermy. And if you do by chance use him, do not pay in full until done. Be prepared to wait about 3 years. Quality on my animal was poor. I've used Greg McBride at Trails End for many years and I've always been real happy with his work. I've recomended him to numerous friends and family members who have likewise been happy with his work. I currently have a coues deer, two mule deer, an antelope, and a mountain lion being mounted by him. I hope to add another coues deer to the list next week, and yet another coues deer again in January. He uses quality materials and stands behind his work. I'm sure if a person communicated any problems to him he'd be happy to address them. After all he is running a word of mouth business and strives for repeat customers and referrals. Yes he is usually backed up a couple years, but to me that is a testament of his great work and many satisfied customers. I think a lot of times people don't know what to expect from a taxidermist and thats where the trouble starts. Also different taxidermists have different styles and one paticular style may appeal to you more than others, but that doesn't always mean there work is bad or lacks quality or detail. I also think that a lot of people have unrealistic expectations from there taxidermist and think they can work miricles. They can't re-grow skin, they can't magicly erase rub marks from when you dragged your buck out. They can't turn a maingy summer deer hide into a beautiful winter coat. There are boundaries and limitations they have to work within.

tomcat, that's exactly what makes this so puzzling. If there is no merit to this then why did the Supreme Court ask for a birth certificit by December 1st? If the Supreme Court is really asking then it seems to me there must be some merit to the allegations?

Bend over, here it comes
TAM replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Try looking online at Midway USA or other dealers. AR-15 mags are sold out. Ammo is getting sold out... FAST! May as well start buying Vasaline! -
Pretty interesting little debate going on. On the one hand people are saying his Hawaii certificate of live birth is legit and that the law suits are a phony plan to give him the boot. On the other hand the Supreme Court is saying give us a real birth certificate by December 1st. If BO had a "real" birth cirtificate don't you think they would have given it to the Supreme court by now? Isn't this kinda like buying the cart before the horse? Why couldn't someone have asked to see his birth certificate before he got his name on the ballot? I highly doubt that anything will come of this situation. But on the other hand could we even imagine the consequences and knee jerk reaction this country would see if BO was given the boot? I think cities like Chicago, Detroit, LA, and NY would turn themselves upside down and make the Rodney King riots seem like a picnic!!!

I've got a DPMS AR-10 that I put an EOTech red dot scope on and I just bought a Sig Sauer 556 that I will be putting another EOTech red dot scope on. I wouldn't say that EOTech's are the best for long range, but they are very good out to 300 yards or so. Although I do enjoy shooting targets and coyotes with my black guns there main purpose is self defense in the event the chit ever hits the fan and there is nothing better than the EOTech's for that! +1 on the buy magazines and ammo comment! I went into J&G gun sales here in Prescott the day after the election and they were swamped! The guy that helped me said they were running low on most of there ammo and had sold over 70,000 rounds so far that day. They were also sold out of Colt and Rock River Arms AR-15's and just had a few of the lower quality rifles left. With the military contracts with ammo manufacturers going on for another two years and the results of the election I think there will be some shortages and price increases. We've already seen shortages on primers and brass in the last year or so. I don't think the sky is falling... yet, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I didn't think Scott was still alive! Haven't seen him post in forever. Thanks for the trip report and cool pictures, more proof that it's all about the journey not the destination.

My Boy's NM Buck (UPDATED on pg4)
TAM replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Great job, and great buck! That just gets my blood pumping for my NM Burro Mountain hunt coming up next week. -
+ Another one for Sonora. You don't know what your missing until you go and see for yourself!

Way to get-r done Gino!

Congratulations! Those are two awesome bucks.

I will be writing up your reprimand immediatley! I will be sending you to the principals office and recomending a weeks suspension, and one weeks forfiture of your travel trailer. You are requested to go and park the trailer in the Burros for the dates of November 15-19 so you won't be tempted to use it. If you need a Bowhunting Outfitter I'd give Steven Ward at Wards Outfitters a call. His outfit kills a bunch of coues with archery tackle every year. He's a sponsor of the site as well. I've got his cell phone if you need it. http://www.wardsoutfitters.com/

Another deer and lion story with pics
TAM replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Thats a cool story. Congratulations! -
Here's the latest group out of my rifle. It's my new personal best It's three shots right at 0.348 inches at 300 yards! Disregard the foul shot, it wasn't even the same bullet/load. I always fire one shot to foul the barrel after I clean it. .270 Weatherby Mag Berger 140 VLD's 68 Grains IMR 7828 SSC Federal 215's MV = 3,230 FPS I've killed an antelope and a mule deer with this load so far this year and have been very impressed with the results. Hopefully I'll be able to put this load to the test again in a couple weeks when I go on my NM Burro Mountian coues hunt.

"We had worked hard all summer for this hunt and that buck." Apparently you didn't work hard enough on your range estimation and shooting skills? At least the bear got a free meal.

MARICOPA AND PIMA COUNTY SHUT OFF??? ALL HUNTERS MUST READ!!!
TAM replied to CanyonCountry's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The Maricopa County Sheriff is Joe Arapio and as far as I know he's not a hunter. Sounds like someone's yankin your chain. -
Proud is an understatement. But it's that way with all there stuff and I've been very happy with there quality, service, and no questions asked warranty. I've never had a problem with my stuff but I was in there shop once and a guy came in with something that had a problem and without even blinking they handed him a new one. The guy was shocked! Like Mike said don't throw the back pack away! I still use mine as my first option and tripods, bipods, tree limbs, etc are all back up plans. A back pack is about as solid as you can get for hunting situations.
-
Scott, I use the Outdoorsmans rest on my tripod and love it. It's very light weight, strong, doesn't take up much space, attaches quickly and easily, and best of all it will hold the rifle without any support from the shooter. I actually use it over my Outdoorsmans pistol grip and can move my aimpoint any place I need to. I used it in NM back in September to kill my antelope buck with it and it worked perfectly.

Nice work Tommy that's a stud!

13 inch main beams 4 inch g2's 9 inches mass total 26 x 2 = 52 Inside spread = 14 Grand Total = 66 inches I cant see any eye guards, but if you guys say he's got them then add another two or three inches? Perhaps he'll go 70 but if you guess him at that I think you're setting yourself up for some dissapointment! Just a guess from a guy that's over judged them in the past and gotten kicked in the butt with ground shrinkage.

Boy that's a triple whammy right there. The first thing BO will do is raise the taxes he pays as a small business owner. Then he'll just rip the carpet right out from under his feet and shut him down all together by tougher gun ownership and manufacturing laws. Finally when all the good ole boys find out Cooper supported BO none of them will want to buy his crap anyway! All I can say to Cooper is you make the bed you sleep in.
