The sixth picture from the top is me and a 101 inch buck that Steven helped me kill several years ago. Steven is a great guy that just has a knack for success. Keep up the great work Steven!

Perhaps a .380??? That's probably the next step down from a 9mm. The problem is that many people believe that a 9mm is already under powered for personal defense situations. So why would you want to go even less than that? I witnessed a guy get shot 4 times with a .380 in Baltimore Maryland. He still ran off. Finally he hid in fear of the shooters. When I approached the man and saw the bullet holes in his body I was really surprised! Pencil sized holes that pretty much closed up with very, very little blood. In fact there really wasn't even enough blood to stain his shirt. I'm no doctor, and I'm no expert, but after seeing this first hand I decided to never buy a .380 for self defense. The guy takes four bullets at a distance of 6-8 feet between his nipples and belly button and doesn't even fall over and still has enough strength to run several hundred yards before hiding. That's not the type of performance I want from a gun which is supposed to save my life. And by the way... yes the guy survived!

So long Janet..... Don't let the door hit you in the A$$ on your way out! http://phoenix.cox.net/cci/newsnational/na...validatearticle Nothing new here, I think we all knew it was coming.

Anyone ever shot these JLK bullets? They're supposed to be manufactured the same as as Bergers with the same J4 jackets, but with a higher BC. Anyone had any experience with them? http://www.swampworks.com/jlk/ Ps. Sorry I just noticed I put this in the rifle section instead of the reloading section by mistake.

This is long, but well worth watching! Pay paticular attention to the part about "Unity" and "joining an orginization". http://shock.military.com/Shock/videos.do?...7117&page=5

What worries more than BO and Biden taking my guns is so called sportsman like you that want to stand by and watch it happen! If guns, ammo, brass, primers, powder, and bullets are banned then just how long is my stock pile supposed to last? Black market is an even worse idea. I hope that BO can get us out of our economic mess. I hope the changes he's planning for our country are healthy and I Hope he has more success than Bush had. But it scares me to death what he wants to do with our right to bear arms. Furthermore, it sickens me that hunters and gun owners don't see the threat that BO and Biden pose to our 2nd ammendment rights and are ok to stand by and watch it all get taken away! Reinacting the assult weapons ban, making it permanent. Child proof locks on all guns. No gun shops or manufacturers within 5 miles of a school. Making the manufacturer of assult weapons illegal in the US. 500% federal tax on ammo and components. Making the sale of brass, bullets, primers, and powder illegal. Doing away with concealed carry permits. Making it illegal to carry a gun in your vehicle or person. Allowing gun manufacturers to be sued for guns used in crimes. What did I leave out? Wake up people!

Congratulations! That's the reason people get hooked on the Kaibab!

My theory on gun control

David, I'm curious just how deep you have your head burried in the sand? -
+ 1 on what everyone else said. They are pretty common and the meat will be just fine.

I agree 100% with all the "negatives" about being an NRA member. On the flip side I believe they do us gun owners and sportsman a ton more good than harm! There is strength in numbers, and right now we need to be strong! As mentioned if you don't like the NRA then look into Gun Owners of America. Perhaps do both? Just do something!

My NM burros buck 91 1/8th inches
TAM replied to TREESTANDMAN's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Congratulations on another nice coues deer Mike! I believe this was the first coues buck that Mike has ever shot with a rifle and even though the shot was close by most coues hunting standards it was a rushed shot which in my opinion makes it a difficult shot. Mike anchored the buck with one bullet, not to mention it was only about a hundred yard down hill drag to the road and a 150 yard side hill march back to the truck. Jason I'll be over to clean any time as long as Stella is cooking! That was an awesome dinner - please make sure she knows how much we appreciate it!!! Thanks again for everything. Tommy, I keep meaning to email you and thank you for your help as well, but I'll just say it here instead. Your maps were dead on! I figure we would have paid upwards of $400 gas money per trip to come and scout the area and still not know as much as you shared with us through your mapping service. It was money well spent!!! The maps are large, in color, and the GPS waypoints are clearly marked and easy to use. Sorry I screwed up your success rate, but for me it was plenty succussful! I would highly recomend your map service to anyone! Thanks again. -
I'm proud to be a card carrying member of the NRA!

I'm curious what you mean by this? Jan Brewer is in line to take Nappy's place. I don't know much about Jan, but she is a Republican. Do you have details you can share?

If BO's birth certificite isn't a legitimate concern then why is the US Supreme Court asking for it? I'm not in favor of witch hunts either but if there wasn't at least a little concern I don't think the Supreme Court would get involved.

Would not recommend this taxidermy. And if you do by chance use him, do not pay in full until done. Be prepared to wait about 3 years. Quality on my animal was poor. I've used Greg McBride at Trails End for many years and I've always been real happy with his work. I've recomended him to numerous friends and family members who have likewise been happy with his work. I currently have a coues deer, two mule deer, an antelope, and a mountain lion being mounted by him. I hope to add another coues deer to the list next week, and yet another coues deer again in January. He uses quality materials and stands behind his work. I'm sure if a person communicated any problems to him he'd be happy to address them. After all he is running a word of mouth business and strives for repeat customers and referrals. Yes he is usually backed up a couple years, but to me that is a testament of his great work and many satisfied customers. I think a lot of times people don't know what to expect from a taxidermist and thats where the trouble starts. Also different taxidermists have different styles and one paticular style may appeal to you more than others, but that doesn't always mean there work is bad or lacks quality or detail. I also think that a lot of people have unrealistic expectations from there taxidermist and think they can work miricles. They can't re-grow skin, they can't magicly erase rub marks from when you dragged your buck out. They can't turn a maingy summer deer hide into a beautiful winter coat. There are boundaries and limitations they have to work within.

tomcat, that's exactly what makes this so puzzling. If there is no merit to this then why did the Supreme Court ask for a birth certificit by December 1st? If the Supreme Court is really asking then it seems to me there must be some merit to the allegations?

Bend over, here it comes
TAM replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Try looking online at Midway USA or other dealers. AR-15 mags are sold out. Ammo is getting sold out... FAST! May as well start buying Vasaline! -
Pretty interesting little debate going on. On the one hand people are saying his Hawaii certificate of live birth is legit and that the law suits are a phony plan to give him the boot. On the other hand the Supreme Court is saying give us a real birth certificate by December 1st. If BO had a "real" birth cirtificate don't you think they would have given it to the Supreme court by now? Isn't this kinda like buying the cart before the horse? Why couldn't someone have asked to see his birth certificate before he got his name on the ballot? I highly doubt that anything will come of this situation. But on the other hand could we even imagine the consequences and knee jerk reaction this country would see if BO was given the boot? I think cities like Chicago, Detroit, LA, and NY would turn themselves upside down and make the Rodney King riots seem like a picnic!!!

I've got a DPMS AR-10 that I put an EOTech red dot scope on and I just bought a Sig Sauer 556 that I will be putting another EOTech red dot scope on. I wouldn't say that EOTech's are the best for long range, but they are very good out to 300 yards or so. Although I do enjoy shooting targets and coyotes with my black guns there main purpose is self defense in the event the chit ever hits the fan and there is nothing better than the EOTech's for that! +1 on the buy magazines and ammo comment! I went into J&G gun sales here in Prescott the day after the election and they were swamped! The guy that helped me said they were running low on most of there ammo and had sold over 70,000 rounds so far that day. They were also sold out of Colt and Rock River Arms AR-15's and just had a few of the lower quality rifles left. With the military contracts with ammo manufacturers going on for another two years and the results of the election I think there will be some shortages and price increases. We've already seen shortages on primers and brass in the last year or so. I don't think the sky is falling... yet, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I didn't think Scott was still alive! Haven't seen him post in forever. Thanks for the trip report and cool pictures, more proof that it's all about the journey not the destination.

I will be writing up your reprimand immediatley! I will be sending you to the principals office and recomending a weeks suspension, and one weeks forfiture of your travel trailer. You are requested to go and park the trailer in the Burros for the dates of November 15-19 so you won't be tempted to use it. If you need a Bowhunting Outfitter I'd give Steven Ward at Wards Outfitters a call. His outfit kills a bunch of coues with archery tackle every year. He's a sponsor of the site as well. I've got his cell phone if you need it. http://www.wardsoutfitters.com/
