The interesting thing here is that many colleges and universities across the country have rules, code of ethics, honor codes, etc. that students must live by or face punishments or possible expulsion. Some schools even have dress codes and moral codes of conduct as well. These are college rules not laws of the land. I just think it's a little hypocritical that these institutions will expell a student for posing in a nudie magazine or working as a stripper which is perfectly LEGAL. In some cases they'll punish you for not sticking to the dress code or wearing your hair to long or crazy. They'll punish you for drinking to much and parting to much. They will punish students that don't live by college ethics, but they won't punish/expell a student for breaking Federal immigration laws which is ILLEGAL!!!!! I'm not against foreigners coming to American schools to get an education. I just think they should have to follow the rules like the rest of us.

Yes they look cool, but I'd still probably miss!

How come it's ok for Nappy to accuse Sherrif Joe of racial profliing while enforcing immigration laws, but it's not racial profiling when the Government starts putting together "Watch Lists" for specific groups or religious beliefs and suggests that these people "may" at some point become law breakers. The system is wacked out!

I feel like we're beating a dead horse. The only point I was trying to make is that ther are two sides to every coin and that procrastinators do not deserve ALL the blame. I believe that the blame is to be shared between the procrastinators and the NM G&F. Thats it. In my opinion they're both at fault.

Roughcut, I don't think G&F should extend if USPS drops the ball. To me they are a third party with no stake in the matter. Since G&F is responsible for making the rules I think they need to be the first ones to play within the rules. This is not a "cut and dry" issue and that's the only reason I got involved in the conversation in the first place. Seemed like everyone wanted to point the finger at the procrastinators and give them ALL the blame. I just wanted to point out that in my opinion G&F deserved some of the blame as well. The procrastinators aren't perfect angels either. If you choose to live that way sooner or later it will catch up with you! I believe the first thing I said about this topic was that there are two sides to every coin. I still don't believe there is one single side in this issue that is without some blame. No offense taken by your comments or anyone else's for that matter. To me it's all just good discussion with different opinions and views.

Scottyboy, No pissing match here, just an opinion. Roughcut, compairing us that disagree with you to liberals is apples to oranges, not to mention dead wrong. I for one am pretty far right in my political views. I'd like to think of my position on this as more of playing with in the rules that the NM G&F established. They made the rules on this not me and therefore it was there responisbility to extend the deadline when they dropped the ball. Good for NM G&F for doing the right thing!

I am.. it took a dump cuz there was 2 million procrastinators who crashed it by waiting til the last possible moment to try and get their apps in all at the exact same time!! That was easy enough... What's wrong with that (procrastination)? G&F clearly advertised that they were accepting applications online through April 8th. People were simply complying within that set of rules. Yes, perhaps they did procrastinate, but they were still applying within the proper time frame and they don't deserve to be shut out because the G&F's computers crashed. The customers were playing within the rules that G&F set up and G&F dropped the ball. Plain and simple.

There is two sides to every coin guys. Perhaps it is helping the procrastinators, but at the same time the New Mexico G&F should pony up and get a computer system that will handle the work load. As mentioned in a previous post they are well aware of the flood of last minute customers on the deadline day. I'm not sure how it is the customers fault that the NM G&F's computers took a dump?

I just picked up my new T/C Encore today. The trigger is not as light and crisp as the custom triggers on my rifles. Do any of you know if it's possible to do a trigger job on a T/C Encore? Thanks, Tim

After 13 years I finally drew a muzzy antelope tag. Never been much of a muzzleloader hunter. In fact I just went and ordered a TC Encore Endevor. I've got about 6 months to get her all dressed up and shooting straight. Any suggestions to help me get set up properly and all dialed in? Before anyone starts asking why I didn't just apply for a rifle tag, it's because in the unit I'm hunting the muzzy hunters kill most of the top end bucks before the rifle hunters even get a crack at them.

Here's a buck I saw this afternoon feeding with a group of does. Should be a decent buck when he's done growing. As long as he stays where he's at he should be safe. He lives in an area that is off limits to hunters.

RR, I'm trying to understand/clarify your explination. "modern smokless" powders like Hodgen, IMR, Reloader, etc would not qualify. However black powder and black powder substitutes such as the "Blackhorn 209", Triple 7, etc would be allowed? Bobbyo, I live right on the edge of my unit, probably about 5 minutes away from where the antelope live. I have a job which keeps me driving around the unit quite a bit. I will no doubt take thousands of pictures before the hunt. I will try and update this post with new pictures as often as time will permit. Thanks, Tim

Thanks Keith, keep us posted. Here's a buck I found today that looks promising. He's the standing buck that is facing the camera in the first picture. Pretty sure he was the only buck in the entire group. I don't think that he knows that the rut is still another 5 months away!

I know nothing about muzzleloaders. I don't have one, never even shot one. During casual conversation, though, with a guy who shoots them a lot, he told me that smokeless powder was illegal to use while hunting?? Don't know if it is true or not, but I thought I would just throw it out there for you. Might be something to look into. I only mention it, because when he told me, I remember thinking to myself that I didn't even know there was a difference. Thanks Blake. Can anyone clarify this?

There are exceptions to every rule, but if you truly want an accurate 500+ yard rifle then you should really think about getting set up to hand load your own ammo. It can make all the difference in the world.
