J, what units did they draw?
-
Perhaps we should all start sending Uncle Ted emails asking for him to give Rush a call? I'd love to listen to that conversation.
-
I think the sad truth is that guys like Rush and O'riley don't really give one smelly turd about anyone but themselves. I think they're greedy SOB's that are looking to SAY ANYTHING to line their wallets, and believe me they're laughing all the way to the bank. They are entertainers/actors playing the roles that the listeners and viewers are PAYING them to play. If they were true Patriots they would be taking a much more pro-active role in promoting their beliefs. Walking the walk not just talking the talk. FWIW, I mention O'riley because he gave props to Carrie Underwood for donating money to the HSUS. I agree J, we held Zumbo responsible. Why aren't we holding Rush responsible?

Thanks Kevin, I may take you up on that offer. Have you ever had the opportunity to compare it to the HD model?
-
Doug, my bad about the HD lenses having fluoride in the glass not coated on the glass. Also good point about the 77mm Kowas being cheaper. Until you mentioned it I had only looked at the 88mm Kowa and not it's smaller counterpart. I'm still not sure I want to take the risk on a scope that doesn't have a lot of history with "hunting conditions".
-
Thanks for all the informative responses. Doug, yes I've taken a pretty close look at the Kowa line of scopes. Although I've yet to look through one. They seem to have quite the following over in the bird watching world, but they just haven't seemed to gain any traction in the hunting world. Seems like if you ask the birders the Kowa's are the best and if you ask the hunters the Swarovski's are top. At some point I think it's splitting hairs, but the two reasons I've ruled Kowa out, at least for now, is first they are the most expensive of all brands I looked at. Second because I don't have any feedback from other hunters on how they'll hold up under "hunting" conditions. My gut just won't let me shell out that kind of cash on a gamble. I would like to look through one though. The truth is I keep swaying like a willow tree in the wind. I thought I had my mind set to go with one of the big 80mm scopes, and then I talked with Gino this morning and he's got me thinking real hard about the 65mm's. Although he did have a good suggestion.... just buy one of each! Yeah, thanks for the help Gino! Schmitty is going to let me take a look at his Swaro 65mm HD and I've got another buddy with a Swaro 65mm non HD that I'm going to look through at the same time. Hopefully that will help. Here's an interesting point on the HD versus non HD question. The eye pieces for the Swarovski scopes are not HD coated. So does using a non HD coated eye piece nulify your expensive glass?

Thanks Scott. At some point I would probably use it for some sort of digiscoping, but not to the extent that I'd be trying to win any awards or sell the prints. Any other opinions?

Check with J&G Gun Sales in Prescott. They are always getting new stock. They have a website that is usually pretty current with their inventory. Just Google J&G gun sales. I always try to buy a few boxes of ammo every couple of weeks. Even if we're just buying groceries at Walmart I will throw a box or two into the cart. It's pretty amazing how quickly a box or two a week will add up!

Keith, that's what I'm waiting for is a public response from Rush. Until then it's all just a guessing game.
-
Good point J.

Last week I sent him an email asking about this. At this point no response. For what it's worth, a few weeks ago when Carrie Underwood announced she was going to be donating money to HSUS Bill O'rilley mentioned it on his show and called her a "Patriot" for her donations. Could both of these guys just be mis-informed or is something else going on?

I like it Mike!!!!

That reporter is a douche bag! Reporters are supposed to report the news, not saturate it with their personal opinions or agendas. She asks the guy a question and then proceeds to attack him for his comments. That's not good journalism or good reporting. No wonder CNN's ratings are tanking. People are tired of having the media shove biased information down their throats. It's really a pretty simple concept. Report on the news and let the viewers decide how they want to interpert it.

WOW! I want some of those gernade shells.

You gotta be kidding me
TAM replied to Non-Typical Solutions's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
The interesting thing here is that many colleges and universities across the country have rules, code of ethics, honor codes, etc. that students must live by or face punishments or possible expulsion. Some schools even have dress codes and moral codes of conduct as well. These are college rules not laws of the land. I just think it's a little hypocritical that these institutions will expell a student for posing in a nudie magazine or working as a stripper which is perfectly LEGAL. In some cases they'll punish you for not sticking to the dress code or wearing your hair to long or crazy. They'll punish you for drinking to much and parting to much. They will punish students that don't live by college ethics, but they won't punish/expell a student for breaking Federal immigration laws which is ILLEGAL!!!!! I'm not against foreigners coming to American schools to get an education. I just think they should have to follow the rules like the rest of us. -
Yes they look cool, but I'd still probably miss!

Gamehauler posted this link up a few weeks ago. I think the author of this article needs to read it! www.nraila.org/media/PDFs/FACT_SHEET_FirearmAccidentFacts2009.pdf Guns/hunting are safer than driving, climbing a ladder, swimming, going to the hospital, eating & drinking, and riding a bike. Some people just don't have a clue!!!! -
The pic's make it look smaller! That's one you've really got to hold to appreciate.

How come it's ok for Nappy to accuse Sherrif Joe of racial profliing while enforcing immigration laws, but it's not racial profiling when the Government starts putting together "Watch Lists" for specific groups or religious beliefs and suggests that these people "may" at some point become law breakers. The system is wacked out!

I feel like we're beating a dead horse. The only point I was trying to make is that ther are two sides to every coin and that procrastinators do not deserve ALL the blame. I believe that the blame is to be shared between the procrastinators and the NM G&F. Thats it. In my opinion they're both at fault.
-
Roughcut, I don't think G&F should extend if USPS drops the ball. To me they are a third party with no stake in the matter. Since G&F is responsible for making the rules I think they need to be the first ones to play within the rules. This is not a "cut and dry" issue and that's the only reason I got involved in the conversation in the first place. Seemed like everyone wanted to point the finger at the procrastinators and give them ALL the blame. I just wanted to point out that in my opinion G&F deserved some of the blame as well. The procrastinators aren't perfect angels either. If you choose to live that way sooner or later it will catch up with you! I believe the first thing I said about this topic was that there are two sides to every coin. I still don't believe there is one single side in this issue that is without some blame. No offense taken by your comments or anyone else's for that matter. To me it's all just good discussion with different opinions and views.
-
Scottyboy, No pissing match here, just an opinion. Roughcut, compairing us that disagree with you to liberals is apples to oranges, not to mention dead wrong. I for one am pretty far right in my political views. I'd like to think of my position on this as more of playing with in the rules that the NM G&F established. They made the rules on this not me and therefore it was there responisbility to extend the deadline when they dropped the ball. Good for NM G&F for doing the right thing!

I am.. it took a dump cuz there was 2 million procrastinators who crashed it by waiting til the last possible moment to try and get their apps in all at the exact same time!! That was easy enough... What's wrong with that (procrastination)? G&F clearly advertised that they were accepting applications online through April 8th. People were simply complying within that set of rules. Yes, perhaps they did procrastinate, but they were still applying within the proper time frame and they don't deserve to be shut out because the G&F's computers crashed. The customers were playing within the rules that G&F set up and G&F dropped the ball. Plain and simple.
