Congrats on your success in Mexico this year. Looks like you did real well.
-
Congrats on another awesome Mexico buck! I love the character!

I have killed 9 big game animals with Bergers and they are the real deal! If you hit your target in the shoulder it will probably be taking a dirt nap before you can even get back into the scope. They pretty much turn the inside of an animals chest into chunky soup! Not to metnion they are the most accurate bullet I've ever shot.

My wife pointed out this truck in the parking lot at Fudruckers in Prescott Valley as we were going in for dinner tonight. Who's is it?

I own a Leica LRF 1200 and love it. But for what it's worth the guys over at The Best Of The West are working on a new range finder that is supposed to blow everything else away! It's probably going to be a little pricey, but it's rumored to do some real cool stuff. If you don't need it until next season it may be worth waiting for???

+1 on the Huskemaw! If you decide to go with a system where you dial in your clicks for your desired yardages then nothing else comes close IMO. It's the fastest most simple system to use in a hunting situation. Good luck!
-
Yes, for long distance the 30 will give you more clicks but for a 600 -700 yard scope you should be just fine with the 1 inch tube. If you were to want to step it up to a 900 -1200 yard scope then you would probably want to consider the 30mm. A lot of it will depend on your bullets tragectory. The flatter it shoots the fewer clicks will be needed at long ranges. The other factor will be where you set your zero. If you plan to zero your rifle at 100 yards then it will take more "up clicks" to dial in 700 yards. If you zero your rifle at 300 yards then it will take fewer "up clicks" to get to 700. Good luck!

Yea I know but I spent a bunch of money this summer and the plan did not pan out so I am pretty much strapped right now for extra money. I will just have to build another change container and start filling it I guess. Or you could just sell me Amber and go on all three hunts? How 'bout it?

Nice cat. No photo shop, just some serious Chuck Adams style picture taking.

Congrats to you and your clan on another great archery season!!! -
Welcome! Good luck with the big buck you're chasing.

No problem Mike, I'm always there for you! If the snipe hunting plans don't work for you then I say go for that Oryx hunt in New Mexico. A uniquely beautiful animal that will likley be the center piece of your taxidermy collection along with some of the tastiest table fare around. Not to mention the fact that once you get drawn the chances are slim that you'll go home empty handed! Good luck!!!
-
Since money is an issue perhaps you should just go Snipe hunting? Guides are usually free and always looking for a new sucker. If you buy your flashlight batteries at Walmart you'll get a free snipe hunting plastic sack to go with them. Then all you need to do is find a good sturdy stick to beat on a rock to call them in. Just think, these animals are so rare that your taxidermy and meat processing fees will be nothing because the chances are that you'll never catch one!

Kevin it sure was a pleasure getting to hunt with you and I'm glad you got to kill that buck. Here is one of the pictures of him when I had him bedded at 257 yards. Congratulations again on a nice buck!

Thanks Phil... I knew that picture would make its way to the site sooner or later! Why couldn't we just stick with the what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico rule? Oh well... at least it wasn't the picture of... uh, uh, nevermind!

The Mecico coues deer season is finally here! Many of you know that with the help of Steven Ward we were able to secure the tags and hunting rights to a private ranch in Sonora. Only ten hunters (eleven tags) and nearly 50 square miles of prime coues deer country. We have the entire season to hunt and plan on making multiple trips as necessary. Some of us were able to scout the ranch in August and some real nice velvet bucks were located. Expectations are high and the excitement is mounting. Many of the hunters are members of this site so I'm thinking we should get to post pictures of most of the buks that get killed. To start things off Phil and his buddys Mike and Jim will be heading down tomorrow to hunt through the 18th. Myself, Josh, Gail, and Mike will head down next week on the 16th to hunt through the 22nd. Those of us that don't kill will head back after Christmas and/or in January to fill our tags. Good luck to eveyone and stay tuned!!!

Great story and write up Josh, it made me feel as if I was right there... Oh wait, I guess I was there Congratulations anyway! I had a great time hunting with everyone down there. Even though I didn't get to put my tag on the type of buck that I was hoping for this will still go down, in my mind, as a great hunt. Here's a digi-scoped picture of Josh sporting his grong orange layed out prone waiting during our first set up for the eyeguard buck to step out. He must have laid there like this for several hours. Here's the buck that I killed. Josh found this buck and guided me in on the radio right to where he and a doe were bedded in an octillo patch. There weren't a lot of good options for vantage points to shoot from so I had to just get closer and closer until I could finally see him. Then I had to do a little manuvering to get a clear shooting lane through the octillo and brush before I finally turned his lights off at 198 yards. Thanks Josh and maybe by next year I will have learned how to use the self timer on my camera These last two are just a couple decent bucks that I was able to get some digi-scope pictures of. Perhaps in another couple years they'll be the talk of someone's hunting camp! Thanks again to everyone for a great hunt in Mexico!!!

Well... Josh and I are heading out tonight for our final trip to Mexico. We'll come back across the border on the 19th and with a little luck and hopefully some rut activity we'll have some good news to report back. Phil and Jim are down there right now and hopefully they'll get another opportunity at the good buck that Phil missed after Christmas. Who knows, maybe he'll be hanging in camp when we pull in Keep your fingers crossed!

Way to go Blake! You've been on quite a roll with your bow latley... Congratulations

My wife carries a Ruger LCP in .380 ACP caliber. I know a lot of people will say to get the larger calibers because they deliver more punch. However we found in my wifes case that she just didn't have the control of the larger calibers to shoot accuratly. We actually bought her a Glock 26, but after several trips to the range with it we realized she needed something designed for a womans hands. After shooting the Ruger LCP we were convinced we made the right decision. Her groups got smaller and her confidence grew. We realize that there are better calibers for self protection, but if your wife can't shoot it accuratly then it's nothing more than a worthless chunck of metal and plastic. We try to get out and shoot often so she maintains her confidence and keeps herself familiar with the gun. I personally can't stand it! It feels horrible in my hand and the recoil hurts my fingers. Now I know how she felt when she would shoot a gun designed to be shot by men. She loves it and carries it in her purse EVERYWHERE! Good luck!

Sounds like the makings of a great hunt! Thanks for the report.

Cola Blanca Outfitters takes another GIANT

Hehehe, yea...suckered into a 122!! You can only feel so much for that guy....hehehe Wish we had a pic of the 122 too. So TAM, I take it it wasn't the same doublebeam buck that you chased? Amanda Nope, it was taken on a neighboring ranch. -

I just spoke with Dan Bishop a little while ago. He says they glassed this buck up one morning and couldn't get it killed so they had to come back the next day. They came back the next day and couldn't find it, but they did find a 122" buck that they killed instead. Then they went back the third day and found the double beam buck and got it killed. I feel bad for the poor fella that got suckered into killing the 122 inch buck on the second morning! Congrats Dan on some awesome deer! -

What a freaking STUD!!! I chased a real nice double main beam buck down there with them about 3 years ago. I'll have to ask Dan if he thinks it may be the same one.
