Glad you're feeling better!

I spoke with Amanda about a week or so about this and she still wanted to do it. I think that the two of us just need to finalize a few of the details. Just to answer a few of the questions. First, sorry Deuce but in all fairness I think you're out. Perhaps we could still allow the pictures for the best pic category? Let me check with Amanda. Coach, I believe the muzzy hunters will have to be combined with the rifle hunters there just aren't enough of them to get their own category. You may not be able to shoot as far but you've got great hunt dates so you really shouldn't be handicapped. I'll try and keep everyone posted when we have more details. Thanks, Tim

This afternoon the lion mount topic that I started about a week ago was pulled from the discussion board because things got ugly. I am member number 25 on this site and have been coming here for better than 10 years and in that time I don't think I have ever seen a topic with more participation than this one. A big thank you to everyone that expressed their opinions. I really got more than I ever expected. Also a big thank you to everyone that was able to keep things on topic and kept their comments respectful. Regardless of what your position was I hope everyone was able to learn something about taxidermy from this experience that will help you make informed decisions the next time you want to hang your trophy of a lifetime on the wall. Looks like one positive thing that we are all getting as a result of this topic is a Taxidermy discussion forum. I can't wait to check out some of the awesome mounts and artistry that will be posted here in the months to come! Please don't use this to try and bring it back to life. Put it to rest... I have! Thanks, Tim

I'm expecting a phone call today! Hopefully for your sake it's all done by 11 am or so. It's not going to be fun sweating your guts out in that blind all day. Not to mention I just saw the news is calling for another good monsoon system to be coming through over the next few days. Good luck!

Makes me wonder if the deer lost it in the tree or if someone picked it up and stuck it there? The snake kind of reminds me of Rosie O'donnel and a box of Krispy Kreams!

Nice pictures... thanks for sharing! I like that bull with the crazy right side

You are not supposed to tell them what it is until they've already eaten it and are coming back for a second helping! I've killed two lions now and our family loves it! In fact my wife won't eat deer or antelope steaks, but she loves lion steaks. She thinks lion is better than elk. I don't know if it's that good, but I sure like it. As mentioned it sorta looks like pork and has a somewhat mild flavor. We had a big family and friends party for one of my boys birthday about a month ago and we roasted a lion roast in the crock pot and did the pulled pork thing with it. We didn't tell anyone until they started asking. If you ever get one don't let it go to waste!!!

I recently got back my 19A muzzleloader antelope mount from last fall. I had Dan Bishop of Bishop Taxidermy in Tucson do the work. Unlike some of my other recent mounts from a different taxidermst I am very happy with this one. I think Dan did a fantastic job and can't wait to see the results of my two mule deer that he is working on for me. Thanks Dan!!!

I will gladly have Grong autograph the fender if that will help someone feel more comfortable with their manhood.
-
Thank you, that is exactly what I wanted!!!

I seriously was thinking of emailing you the question directly! 31 Inches... HA! Since it's nearly 95 ft lbs to start I'll guess 70 give or take? What about 120 yards?
-
Thanks everyone... I had a great day spent with my family.

Here are a couple pic's of a decent bull that hung around long enough for me to get a few pictures of him on Saturday morning. He was probably 800-1000 yards away working his way down a ridge into the trees. This was the second time I've seen him this summer.
-
Yep... that's why I said 300. I'm sure there are some guys that will call him 320 and others that will call him 380. What ever score you choose to put on him I'm just calling him a shooter and will gladly cut my tag on him if given the opportunity.

The bigger bulls I saw over the weekend looked pretty much done growing. In fact one of the bulls we saw was a bull that I had seen a couple weeks ago and all he had done was finish the last couple inches on his 5ths and main beams. Some of the smaller bulls look like they may put on a few more inches, but I wouldn't expect much more growth.

Scouting Camera Recommendations
TAM replied to MangeyJoe's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I've been using a DLC for over a year and love it!!! It's by far the best trail camera I have ever used. Make sure to support the site by purchasing one from Amanda. -
Welcome! This has been discussed in the past, but all lock boxes really do is keep the honest people honest. If a dirt bag thief wants your camera he'll get it... lock box or not. Good luck!

Good point Vitalzone... this contest is not limited to Arizona! We may base our registration dates or ending date on Arizona hunts, but feel free to enter bulls from other states. Just no game farm bulls please.
-
Although nothing is final yet, let me try to answer a few of your questions. This will be a free contest!!! But the truth is nothing good in life comes for free. Even though we will work to get prizes donated to the contest there will still be shipping costs to have them mailed to the winners and of course there is always the cost to Amanda to maintain the website and supply prizes of her own. PLEASE make generous contributions to the website and PLEASE try to spend your money with businesses that sponsor the site and this contest. Entry to the contest will be for members of Coueswhitetail.com only. If you are a registered member of the site you will automatically be entered into the contest. We hope to use this as an opportunity to have some new hunters register as CWT members! There will be cut off dates that members must be registered by in order to be entered. It will be broken down into catagories similar to those mentioned. Rifle, Archery, Youth, etc. We will use the B&C gross score. Thank you for everyone's interest and support. We will be posting more details soon.
