I see your point but that would rob us all of the opportunity to be forensic accountants looking for account activity which may or may not mean we drew a tag. š

Minimalist āless is nowā kill some time
Jimmer Negamanee replied to Couzer's topic in The Campfire
Thanks for the suggestion. I have a hard time moving things down the road thinking that I might need them some day. But I do like tidy spaces. This might help me. When I do give something away or throw it out (giving things away is easier for me), I think "I just made my house bigger." -
For Sale - Swaro 65MM STX/ATX/BTX Objective - $800 OBO
Jimmer Negamanee replied to QCChevy's topic in Classified Ads
QCChevy: Consider keeping it. Save up for the 85 (or 95, if that's what floats your boat). The point of the STX/ATX/BTX system is being able to mix and match. Potential Buyer: Consider buying it. If there were one objective to rule them all for this system, it would be the 65. -
My guess is that the elk found a road killed rabbit and is enjoying a free, nutrient dense snack. Elk will gnaw on bones for the minerals and eat baby birds for the minerals and iron and protein. I'd think this is especially true for gestating cows since they're building a new elk inside and that takes a metabolic toll.

sorry for the ads but maybe this? (Heck's Outhouse?)

Found this website associated with Matt Thom http://www.mogollonrimairedales.com/ I have no experience with the breeder at all though.

I'm glad NPS and AZGFD are doing this. I'm not sure of the timing but if these "management actions" but if they precede the State House Rock hunts they'll leverage their efforts because the herd will get pushed out of the NP into AZGFD's jurisdiction where State tag holders can go to work. I'm impressed the NPS and AZGFD are getting creative in solving this problem. They are even getting around some of the bureaucratic hurdles (which, of course, are of their making). Remember, this is not a hunt. Hunts are illegal on NPS land. [This is from the website: "This management action is not a hunt but a lethal removal of an overpopulated bison herd to protect park resources at the guidance of the NPS. Hunting is illegal in Grand Canyon National Park."]

King snakes don't mess around. Great picture (and your title is hilarious)!

That's awesome! They'd make a cool plaque mount and even more special with the pic of the buck sporting them before he relinquished them.

I certainly understand the curiosity, especially in light of a lack of a clear explanation as to what happened. But I'd rather they focus on trying to pull off the fall draw without incident rather than having them assign people to scurry around to comply with a public records request. I truly understand the desire to have an explanation though.

Wow! Great video! Thanks for posting.

I wonder if the pig was hit by a car (or had some other injury) and the bear happened upon a meal of opportunity.

I rarely have this conundrum but like most answers to lifeās questions, Iād say the answer is āIt depends.ā If itās a high-end, established taxidermist doing a shoulder mount that will take 12-18 months to complete and youāre paying top dollar, Iād say probably not. Youād ātipā that taxidermist just by being a good, patient, cash-paying client. No need to start calling after the first month and every month thereafter to ācheck on the progressā then whip out a credit card and ask for a receipt when itās time to settle up. But if the taxidermist drives from Young and meets you in Payson so you can pick up a skull cap mount, an extra $20 for his gas would be appropriate, even if he had to go to Payson anyway. (But even then, it would probably surprise the taxidermist.) If itās a young person whoās in school, on the football team and student council and cleans/bleaches skulls for a side hustle, Iād hand over more cash than required and say āI appreciate your hard work. I donāt need any change back.ā So it depends, I guess.

This is my favorite post on this thread. My only regret is that I only have one "thumbs up" to give. PLEASE post the story of your son's bear hunt. Sounds like the hunt of a life time. I'm happy for all your silver linings.

Is the collective wisdom that they will start hitting CCs tomorrow (Monday, 3/1/21)?

Did I ever tell you about the time I was hunting with my brother, my dad and my uncle on an early rifle bull hunt in Unit 1? (Or was it 27? Heck, I donāt remember.) All I know is that we'd hunted hard all day. We were exhausted and were just sitting around staring at the campfire. We were imbibing, as was our practice in those days, when my brother started goofing around with his cow call. He was trying to blow the lint out of it, or some such nonsense, when we heard this bugle just a few hundred yards away. We all got silent and stared at each other in the flickering fire light. Then, just for fun, my dad let out a bugle. And the bull cut him off! That bull was HOT and getting closer! Then my uncle let another bugle go and that bull was on top of us! Next thing we know this monster bull, easily 380+, comes charging out of the darkness. First we saw his ivory tipped rack at the edge of the firelight. Then we watched in awe as he came trotting on in, right through the middle of our camp, snortin' and slobberin' and spoilin' for a fight. Well, naturally, as soon as I saw him I took a shot. Then my brother took a shot, then dad took a shot, then my uncle took a shot. Then I took another shot for good measure. But by the time we got the cap back on the whiskey bottle that bull long gone. He prolly ran all the way to Unit 27. (Or was it 1? Heck, I donāt remember.)

Anyone have experience with a Recce style AR for hunting?
Jimmer Negamanee replied to broadhead's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
I think you'd like that set up. Check out the BCM RECCE 16 Precision Rifle. The barrel contour on the Precision Rifle is a little heavier (not much though) and it has a 1 in 8 twist instead of the 1 in 7 for the standard RECCE rifles. (The slightly slower twist could help with accuracy for the light 55gr bullets you want to use.) That rifle with a LPVO starting at true 1X up to maybe 6 or 8 along with an offset red dot could be really versatile for any where to "crap, there's a yote in my lap out to the maximum effective range of the .223. All BCMs are hard to come by nowadays though so it might be a bit of a wait. -
I was in Cabela's last weekend and the feller stocking the shelves said their ammo deliveries were getting bigger and bigger. Still, their supply was flying off the shelves but at least their deliveries were increasing. That's some progress.

Hi Doug, I have a Burris XTR II 1-8 illuminated FFP scope that I bought from Camera Land and I love it. I think it's a great scope for the money. I was looking to buy another one and you are sold out as is every place else that I've looked. Has that scope been discontinued? If so, is there any speculation as to whether Burris will replace it with another FFP LPVO? Thank you. -Jimmer

Great list! Very informative. Thanks for posting. Maybe time to add another "C", for computer chips or maybe circuit boards with all the companies making them in AZ?

Looking for Aussie pups or Aussie mixes
Jimmer Negamanee replied to CraigK's topic in Classified Ads
Post pics of the new pupper when you get it! That's a great mix. -
What makes this country great is that we're each entitled to our own opinions. But we're not entitled to our own facts. So the stats I saw in the United States show about 105 deaths per day by motor vehicle accident while we've been averaging over 2,000 COVID deaths per day recently. Maybe I'm missing something though.
