Caliber Stamp on Barrel
Jimmer Negamanee replied to coueswt's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I had the same thought. I think there's no downside to putting it on. Plus, there's lots of upside for putting it on. Safety is probably the biggest plus. There are lots of cartridges that not only look similar but will readily chamber in rifles of slightly different calibers/configurations but you wouldn't want to pull the trigger unless you were sure. And I think it would add to the resale value. (I wouldn't want to take someone's word on something like that.) Or even if you never sell it and pass it on to the kiddos they'll never have to have the "I think grandpa said this was a 280 Remington. Or, was it a 270 Winchester?" discussion. Just my $.02. Let us know what you decide. -
Wow! These should be cover shots for the G&F regs!

Any shed hunting post with the word "set" in it immediately piques my curiosity. Good for your dad for putting in the effort. Thanks for posting.

7 sheds/5 hours = 1.4 sheds per hour. You were VERY productive. Thanks for posting.

Question for Bill Quimby!
Jimmer Negamanee replied to Snapshot's topic in Hunting and Outdoors-related books
The bright side about getting it out on paper is that that you'll be able to stop it from rattling around the ol' cabeza, at least for a while. And don't let the "not good enough" hobgoblin slow you down. The first draft is to get the idea out. You'll fine tune it and add finishing touches (or make major revisions) once you start going over it again. As they say: "Writers don't write. They rewrite." Well, that's my unsolicited $.02. Good luck and keep writing! -
Great finds! Thanks for posting.

Great finds and pictures! We're looking forward to more reports. -
I think it was the Grong orange dog vest that led us to it! DB: Oh my. I was not aware of that connotation. Glad you told me before I used it too much, at least in front of baseball fans. AZMSK: Yep, it’s the J34. I got it a couple months ago from Outdoorsmans (CWT.com sponsor, btw). It was my first time out with it but I really liked it. I got two large belt pockets and I’m glad I did. One is dedicated as a navigation/survival pack and the other is used for whatever else I want to keep handy. If you rig it right you can reach stuff without stopping and taking the pack off. Ultimately, my plan for this pack is overnighters which will require more weight and more time under the pack. That will be the real test but so far, so good. Feel free to PM me if you want more info.

The faithful but useless shed dog and I went out and found the first brownie is quite some time. Plus, its the first time I've had the presence of mind to take the "as it lay" (or is it as it lie? ) picture. Couldn't find the match though. Here's the helper with our treasure.

Look like you're getting to know the area pretty well! Those are some great finds! Thanks for posting.

Never too late to post pics like these! Thanks for putting them up.

Do unto others and all that. May you get texts from credible sources proclaiming from high places that the results are up only to find that "Results are unvailable at this time." Snapshot is right. This is the silly season (one of two). Come on G&F! Put us out of our misery!

In front of the juniper in the center you can see an antler silhouetted against the trunk. Thanks!
